Renderotica: Could you give us a little background information about yourself?
Pallascat: Sure, in real life I'm working as a freelance writer and publisher in the print media, i.e, I write for popular and special interest magazines, but on completely different topics than what I'm publishing here.
Renderotica: How did you get started in 3D Art and what influences did you have that led you to the style of art that you do?
Pallascat: I discovered 3D Art and DAZ in 2013, looking for a possibility to add some illustrations to an article I was working on - and I got hooked. Having a hinge to art porn, and especially aesthetic BDSM and Shibari, I started to play around with Victoria 4 and 5, with more or less decent results. Then I discovered Renderotica and Deviantart which inspired me as much as the art of Boris Vallejo, Milo Manara and other graphic artists. So I kept on playing around, learning a lot about posing, shaders, lighting and so on. For many years, I was reluctant to share my art since I always thought it wasn't good enough. Until I entered my first picture into the Alien Invasion Contest 2022 on Renderotica - which was a winner, and up to today my best rated contribution. So, here I am.
Renderotica: If someone were to ask what style of art you do, how would you describe it? What special interest does that hold for you?
Pallascat: What I like with 3D Art is the possibility to show the impossible, fantastic - things that just don't happen in real life such as Aliens fucking a young beauty nuts, or things that happen only in our wildest dreams. And that's the atmosphere I'd like to transport in my art, the surreal, dark fantasies that are hunting us - or that are at least hunting me. Maybe you can call it erotic shadow work, i.e. it's primary a confrontation with what is hiding in my own shadow.
Renderotica: Could you describe the process you go through to set up and render an image?
Pallascat: Usually, I have an idea in mind, and then I start off to choose and pose the characters, first. Then there is the environment, the setting, which is also a bit of work. In the third step I add the posed characters to the scene, set up the camera, work to get the lighting right - which might take quite a few test renders until I'm happy or at least halfway satisfied with the result. In the last step I do add some accessories - a skirt or a pantie on the floor, some rats in medieval or fantasy renders - and then I just hit the render button... Some larger scenes need to be rendered in two or three parts which I finally merge in photoshop. Else I rarely do any postwork, except for some skin scratches or grunge in some BDSM or fantasy scenes.
Renderotica: What advice would you give to those just starting out in the 3D art field?
Pallascat: Patience and endurance. If you have an idea that seems impossible to realize, take it as a challenge, and as an opportunity to learn.
Renderotica: Do you have any long term goals in relationship to your art?
Pallascat: Not really, I'm happy and fully occupied with what I'm doing in real life. But then I'd like to improve some of my skills when I have the time to create new scenes, and absurd situations.
Renderotica: Are there any projects, now or in the future, that you would like us to be aware of?
