Q) what brought you into 3D?
A long time ago, I would guess about 2001, I was looking around online and I happened across the work that Kristin F. was doing at the time, that wonderful series about the trolls and their female captives, and so on. I had never seen 3D erotic art before, and I remember thinking that I would probably enjoy expressing myself that way. After all this time, I consider myself fairly competent, but never in Kristin's league; she's always out there ahead of me.
Q) How did you choose your nickname?
It's a combination of my intitials: ro, and my favorite animal : trex.
Q) How long have you been creating your artwork?
I think I began posting images at Renderotica (the old website) in 2002.
Q) what are the specs of your render machine?
OMG. I'm a bit of a technical moron, so I'm not really sure. I have a pretty nice graphics card still stiing in its box; I'm too lazy to install it.
Q)Poser or Daz Studio and why?
I started off with Poser about 13 years ago; that's what was available then. I stuck with it until several months ago, when I switched over to DAZ Studio. I wouldn't say that I was bored or disenchanted with Poser in any way, but the Genesis figures all seemed to look better, have nicer clothes, and so on. It's also nice not to have to apply Xameva's wonderful smoothing morphs. I guess it was a simple case of "If you can't beat 'em, join 'em".
Q) What renderer do you use? (Stock Poser or Daz or 3rd party) And what lead you to use it?
3D Delight in DAZ Studio. One of these days I'll probably install the latest version and give IRay a shot.
Q) what is your favorite work you’ve created?
That would have to be "Bachelorette Party", from a long time ago. It's a takeoff on Da Vinci's "Last Supper". The idea just came to me somehow, and it was a lot of work duplicating the poses and positions of the characters in the original painting, but it was worth it to me because the general response and comments were very enthusiastic.

Q) Is there any image you’ve made that you wish you didn’t? why?
There's probably a multitude; my early stuff now strikes me as technically inept. I generally try to see to it that my mishaps end up in the Recycle Bin.
Q) Many of your renders are from different time periods, what is your favorite period and why?
I would guess the Victorian/Edwardian era. The rooms, furniture and clothing are very sumptuous. Also, it was a time when everyone appeared to be very straightlaced and hush-hush about sex, when in reality they were going at it like rabid weasels.
Q) There seems to be just the right balance between short and long hair in your works, which to you like better?
It depends on what I'm trying to do. If the character in question is very active or is in close proximity to another character, I'll go with short hair; sometimes long hair simply gets in the way.
Q) Black and white or color renders, which is your favorite?
Usually color. Sometimes I'll use black and white if I'm trying to imitate an old tintype or daguerreotype. Aging those pictures with various overlays, scratches and other techniques is a lot of fun.

Q)) Out of all the various art mediums why 3D?
Because I'm not a good enough manual artist (drawing, painting, etc.) to express myself adequately. 3D was a bit of a godsend to me in that respect.
Q) who are your favorite artists other than yourself?
There are many, but my favorite is Kritsin F. Her technical prowess, creativity and wicked sense of humor continue to inspire me. She also has what Alex Comfort (The Joy of Sex) called "the divine gift of lechery".
Q) If someone reading this wants to start creating their own artwork what words of advice would you give them?
Simply to start off with small things, and gradually expand as you get better. If I had to sum it up in one word: Patience. Also, I sometimes get compliments on the details in my work; my advice would be not to worry about them. I think it's a general rule of life that if the central idea is strong enough, then the details take care of themselves.
Q) Do you have a job outside of 3D or do you consider this your full time occupation?
Yes I have a full time job outside of 3D. If anyone knows of a job in 3D that pays well, please let me know. I would love to work at home!
Q) Speech time! any final words you have for your, fans and fellow 3D community?
Just to say that I was very fortunate to find a venue like Renderotica; not only to create my artwork and to receive feedback, but also to feel like a member of a community, or a large, slightly twisted and eccentric family. I'm grateful for all the positive response to my work since I started off so long ago, and I plan to remain here for as long as you guys will have me.
