Q) How did you get into creating 3D Products?
I've had interest in 3D imagery for sometime. I originally come from a 2d design background but have always loved the idea of being able to
create 3d imagery so decided to learn various 3d packages. For my main line of work I use 3d Studio Max but for my work on Renderotica I use Poser as
modelling and rigging 3d characters myself I've yet to master.
Q) Do you prefer Poser over Daz or vice versa? if so please tell us why.
Currently I use Poser and have invested a lot in content/assets over the years. I may soon switch DAZ though. As both programs rely on decent content from various creators I see, in my opinion the better content now coming out for DAZ especially for the 3d figures like Victoria 7.
Q) What render engine do you use?
I use Firefly which is Posers native render engine. I find it pretty quick and does a decent job. There now is shift towards unbiased render engines which produce great and realistic results but I find can take too long. Although I may give Octane a try.
Q) What was the most challenging image/product you have created OR wanted to create?
My latest comic was certainly the most time consuming product. I have a storyline for my next comic and reckon that will be the most challenging one to date so far.
Q) Tell us a bit about your creation process, what steps do you go through to make a product?
First of all I come with the basic story and then go about finding various content and assets suitable to use kind of like scouting for locations if you were making a film. Next is create the various characters to be used and the put them all together in Poser. All renders are taken in to Photoshop for postwork which is one of the bits I really enjoy.
Q) Is there anything you’d love to create but can’t? (and if so why?)
Creating and rigging my own characters/clothing would be something I would like make. I can make scenes and props but clothing is something I yet to master.
Q) What so far has been your favorite image / product you created and why?
My favorite product to date would be The Intern, The Burbz being a close second.
Q) What is the one thing you wish you never made and why? (don’t be shy)
I don't really have one at the moment to be honest.
Q) Will we see a Bound Volume2
Certainly think so. All my comics and image series are open to sequels.
Q) Tell us about the leads in your comics
I usually have a hot and attractive main protagonist than finds herself in some sort of trouble. The time I spend most on characters though is for the villains, as these are the ones you really try to make mean or ugly looking. I always like to have a mixture of male and female villains in my stories to mix things up.
Q) How long does it take you typically to create a new comic?
Depends, my last comic took a year create but that was mainly due to other work commitments. If I had the chance to work on a comic solidly I reckon it would take a couple of months.
Q) Who do you come up with the themes to your comics?
Sometimes the themes for my comics can come from seeing some great 3d content that I really like to use and then base a storyline around that environment. Generally though the story/theme can just come from anywhere. Maybe driving home and you get a seed of an idea and then you develop it on.
Q) what kind of computer do you use for your art?
Currently I use a PC, and i7 with quadro k4000 graphics card and 32gb ram
Q) any advice for those looking to start creating 3D Products?
3d was always a daunting prospect for me as I looked at what people were doing and wondered how the hell they create those images. Everyone has to start somewhere so basically just get stuck in, find a program that best suits your needs and keep playing around with it. The internet has tons of information and tutorials so any questions/problems that arise can be answered online somewhere.
Q) any advice for those looking to start creating finished artwork?
Guess the above answer applies to this as well. The more you use your 3d package the more you develop your style/skills in creating artworking. Always try to keep learning new techniques.
Q) With the ever changing climate of 3D what do you see as the pros and cons?
The pros are that 3d programs are getting more capable and creating better quality imagery but this can call come at cost of buying the extra hardware and software. As with all hobbies you can end up spending quite a lot of money.
Q) what are you planning for the future?
Hopefully going to start another comic soon which I have an idea for and would been keen to make some 3d environments/scenes.
Q) Speech time! any final words you have for your, fans and fellow 3D community?
Mainly thanks to everyone that buys my comics and the feedback I get, it's very much appreciated.
