We are pleased to present the works of rendering_raccoon. They have only been with our community for a couple of years and as a hobby, we believe it is something we'd like to share.
You can see their Artist of the Month submissions by either selecting it from the Artist of the Month Left Sidebar menu of the Gallery, or simply click this LINK.
You can also check out their Profile Gallery from their Artist Studio.
We asked rendering_raccoon some questions and you'll find the full interview below.
Renderotica: Could you give us a little background information about yourself?
rendering_raccoon: There isn't much to tell about myself. I'm just a normal person with a fairly normal shift working job, 5 to 6 days a week, that barely earns me enough money to save some so I can afford something "special" from time to time.
I do love both cats and dogs, don't like being near crawlers (including snakes) and bugs and I eat pineapple on pizza. - Don't judge me, you're probably eating olives and tomatoes and I can't stand those. Just let people eat whatever they enjoy. :3
I'm doing super easy with learning foreign languages. I know nothing about actual grammar rules because it's way too complicated. When it sounds dumb it's wrong – it's as easy as that for me. :) Probably the only "talent" I really have.
I'm considering myself a very good driver, owning 2 cars and a bike, never had a scratch or dent on any of them, but I do get annoyed by other people on the road very quickly.
Renderotica: How did you get started in 3D Art and what influences did you have that led you to the style of art that you do?
rendering_raccoon: There are multiple reasons, but the main reason was that I wanted to create my own characters and have them looking as good as possible, not being limited to just a few options from character creators like most games have. This also includes clothing styles and much more, like the nudity aspect that is simply not given - or only through mods, but then will still be looking bad in terms of pure image quality. I started mid 2020 with a laptop that didn't even have a GPU so I had to upgrade very soon. It still wasn't quite what I was hoping for, especially in terms of rendering time. Now I can easily, and considerably "quicker", render all my stuff in 4K resolution.
The goal was always, as I mentioned, as realistic a look, or at least in the "photography" direction. Pretty girls, mainly gothic, rock, metal and punk style, since that was clearly the direction I evolved towards when I hit puberty. - And it's soooooo sexy!
Renderotica: If someone were to ask what style of art you do, how would you describe it? What special interest does that hold for you?
rendering_raccoon: Most people don't even know that I do "art" at all and those who do also know EXACTLY what I'm doing. My special interest in it is very simple: I love the beauty of the female body and I want to express my view of that.
My parents never educated me about "sex" and when I had my first and so far only girlfriend when I was almost 18 they behaved like they didn't want this to happen and always told me to look for "someone else" - And yet I still don't want ANYONE else at all after all these years. - That's why I'm never talking about "that topic" at all.
Renderotica: Could you describe the process you go through to set up and render an image?
rendering_raccoon: Most of my characters are based on characters from games, anime or tv shows and movies, real life people I came across or people I saw on photographs. If I like someone, or simply just think that they look good, I try to get "more" of that. So I set up a character, trying to make it look like the person I have in mind and adjust features until I'm confident with the results.
Outfits are mostly done after my own imaginations, or by trying out different stuff until I have something that looks good to me. Rarely something I have seen anywhere - at least not with me being actively aware of it.
The scene around the characters are rarely anything special I think, trying to make it look like a simple situation at home or an active photo shoot.
Renderotica: What advice would you give to those just starting out in the 3D art field?
rendering_raccoon: I'm not a good teacher, but I would tell people to watch some tutorials and learn things step by step and not just dive right into it headfirst like I did. It's hard changing your habits once you want to improve and realize you've been doing things way more complicated than they need to be.
Renderotica: Do you have any long-term goals in relationship to your art?
rendering_raccoon: I usually wished to make some money out of it somehow, or at least get some "fame" on the social networks to be honest. But it's not easy at all. Also, people would rather pay $25 a month for some lazy, low quality smartphone selfies instead of $10 for something exclusively created for them. They want everything for free and most of them don't even appreciate the work, time and effort put into it; not to mention the cost of the hardware needed. Therefore, I took a long brake to "calm down" and then start again, just doing what I like and want to do.
Renderotica: Are there any projects, now or in the future, that you would like us to be aware of?
rendering_raccoon: Nothing that I am aware of myself. I think you are way ahead of me when it comes to things to watch out for or following. :)
I for myself will try to create more content and keep improving my skills. Currently I started doing AI art as well but I'm not sure yet if I should post any of that on here at all.
We are sure that rendering_raccoon will continue to make beautiful images. Make sure to like and comment on your favorites.
