This is just getting better and better.
Many years ago, I read in Cosmopolitan magazine, of girls, approached by a procurer, earning as much as $50,000 a month to satisfy the needs of some Middle Eastern sheik. The girls were housed in dormitories, each with their own room, quite lavishly decorated, with cook and maid service. Once a week, they were bused to a nearby urban center for afternoon-long shopping sprees. They were expected to accommodate the sheik, his sons, and their friends, although apparently group sex was not engaged in. There was even a system of plausible job titles for tax purposes; the girls were tutors, fashion consultants, make-up artists, etc. According to the article, one woman returned to California after several months and opened a clothing boutique with her earnings. Another bought a home.
Nicely done, K!
On holidays as a girl in Ibiza, Gran Canaria, Mallorca etc you just walked about in a bikini without a thought. I think the locals were so used to it they ignored it but as I have got older I realise it probably was offensive at times. However, some places you need to be respectful or you'll end up in a run down jail cell, or worse!
Oh, i fear this has changed a lot in teh last decades :-(
Even here what was possible in the 80s or 90s is not any more. I can remember when i was young what we did going to the beach ;-) - if i did that now i would be arrested very soon :-)
It was much more lighthearted back then - without all those rules and regulations - and people using common sense
And things were not considered tragic so easily, people were not offended so easily.
I guess it is the same for those other countries - there was more freedom almost everywhere on this planet...

Still it is a good topic for a storyline - after all it surely had some impact and some good (like marriages, friendships etc.) and bad stories resulted from it :-)
