Physical: 26 years old, 5'2", 131 pounds, muscular but not ripped. Naturally blonde hair, with red highlights.
Parents: Hiroshi Endo (Japanese) and Mary Linda Donaldson (Irish); raised from age 7 by Uncle Kazumi Endo.
Powers: No 'super' powers; a seasoned fighter (her training began at age 8). Physical fighting skills were augmented with plasma based weaponry while she was fighting beside Dynamo. Her newer uniform incorporates only TASER technology in the gloves.
Both her parents are dead. Her mother was murdered in a liquor store robbery when Sesha was four. Mary had stopped in to Travelers Liquor to buy a six pack of Tsing-Tsao for Hiroshi. She was checking out when the two robbers, armed with machetes and switchblades came into the store. Security cameras showed Mary dragged into the meat locker where she was found with her throat cut. The shop owner was forced to empty the safe, then led back to the meat locker. He was found there, hanging upside down, nearly beheaded.
Three years later Sesha's father, Hiroshi Endo--the crimefighter known as Powerhouse--was killed in the line of duty. A group of criminals calling themselves Doomwatch abducted him, beat him to death, and left his body on the steps of the Hall of Government. There has long been rumor that the murder was taped, but so far it appears to be nothing but rumor.
Hiroshi's brother Kazumi, the crimefighter known as Dynamo, and his wife Kimiko became Sesha's guardians. Dynamo trained Sesha to fight and to defend herself; trained her in the use of his pulse and, later, plasma weapons. At fifteen Sesha went out on her first mission, as Volt, with Dynamo.
She was seventeen when she had her first run-in with Jack Diamond and his hirelings. Lotus Jewelry was being robbed and the silent alarm had been triggered. When Dynamo, Volt and Brute arrived, Jack Diamond was sitting safely in his BMW, across the street from the jewelers and Ramrodder and Wraith were committing the assault and robbery. Dynamo subdued Ramrodder and Volt proved her worth to the team by taking Wraith down. Wraith was a veteran fighter and even now, nine years later, interviewed at her east side diner, she freely admits "That seventeen year old bitch came in there and kicked my ass like she’d been fighting for twenty years and I'd been fighting for two. She owned me. I love it when someone slaps her ass down at Nexus, but I never bet against her. She'll take the Prime one of these days."
Volt and Dynamo, and the rest of the team, would have many encounters with Jack Diamond's hirelings over the years that followed. She and Ramrodder went toe-to-toe nine times. Volt managed to turn him over to the authorities three times, and the other six battles ended with his escaping. (And on all of the arrests, Lawyer Braeden Chase managed to get Ramrodder freed.) It was Wild Childe who became Volt's nemesis in Diamond's group. Sesha doesn't remember how many times they fought, "...but it had to be four or five times a year during those four years. We were around the same age and, I don't know, I....always thought...I still do really...that she wanted to be on our side; that she wanted to fight crime. There was something....I don't know...it was like...like she wanted to prove she was better than me so she could take my place. She wasn't, and she obviously didn't, but she was good." Wild Childe is currently serving a ten year sentence for assaulting two police officers.
Sesha nearly walked away from crime-fighting when she was twenty. Uncle Kazumi had been riding her hard, interrogating her daily, about a young man she'd been dating. The worst of it came one night when he demanded to know if she was still a virgin. They’d exchanged words and she'd stormed out of the house and driven to the business district, where she found a busy bar. A gin and tonic later, she allowed a forty-something, balding businessman to pick her up. He'd bought her two more drinks and two hours later she let him take her virginity in an expensive hotel room.
She told Uncle Kazumi she'd just gone driving and apologized for getting upset. A week later he took her to surreptitiously watch the young man meeting with, and taking money from Jack Diamond. She never told him what she did.
Purge Night: The night of Jack Diamond's revenge on Dynamo's group has become known as Purge Night (reporter Farushka Yavotich coined the term and it's an appropriate one). It was the night that Dynamo's crime-fighting group was shattered; the night the heroes lost. Kazumi "Dynamo" Endo and his right-hand-man, Greg "Brute" Jenson, were the first to fall. Jenson turned out to be easy; Diamond bribed him with cash and girls, and he jumped ship. (More on Brute another time).
To get to Dynamo, Diamond found a Japanese woman who bore a resemblance to Kazumi Endo's dead wife, Kimiko. The woman seduced Endo and drugged him, and Sally 'Syko' Bishop took over from there, "re-wiring" his brain. When she was done, Kazumi Endo was convinced that his niece, Sesha Endo, was dead and that Jayde--his wife's sister and murderer--had taken her place. And he was also convinced that Sesha was Kimiko. What Syko had done was to plant two warring ideas in Dynamo's mind which would end in his self-destruction. He'd either kill Sesha and, when he realized what he'd done, implode or he'd completely alienate her and possibly even force her to attack him by attempting to initiate sex with her. In attacking him, if she had to, she would likely convince him she was Jayde, and even that would end with one or both of them dead.
Dynamo drained the power from Volt's gloves and led her to an abandoned house where he attempted to initiate sex with her and, when she tried to force him to stop, attacked her. With no weaponry and her hesitance to fight the man who'd been father to her since she was seven, Volt fell easily. Jack Diamond, parked outside the house, watched the "entertainment" via security cameras until Dynamo (his mind still ripping itself apart as one moment his intention was to make love to Kimiko and the next it was to rape and murder the woman who had killed Kimiko) stripped to his boots and stripped Volt to her panties. Diamond then entered the house and spoke the phrase Syko had planted to clear Dynamo's mind. Dynamo attacked Diamond, but had to curtail the fight when a scream came from the second floor; one which Diamond implied might just be kidnap victim Katrinka Falchone and some of his "associates". Dynamo went to rescue the girl. He would be found up there the next day; comatose, crippled (his spine severed with a chainsaw) and emasculated courtesy of Jade. (More on this in another blog.)
Diamond took Volt, who was still unconscious, to his headquarters to take care of her personally. Volt was stripped and chained to a Sybian Horse and Diamond offered a barter: marriage in exchange for her life. He left her in the chamber and watched through the two-way glass walls as, for over an hour, she tried to avoid contact with the machine's pistoning dildo, which was becoming five degrees hotter with each passing minute; as was the chamber. When he returned, Volt refused again to capitulate, so he injected her with a drug that left her unable to move, took her to Quinn’s Isle and left her to suffocate in Duke Alius Quinn's tomb. (The legend is that Quinn was an 18th century British soldier who had been attacked by vampires and transformed into a vampire himself. Worse than the legend is the way it is used: to bludgeon unruly children into line with threats that Quinn, who particularly loves feeding on naughty children, would creep into their bedrooms and get them if they don't behave. Sesha's father was one of those who used this to keep her in line and she never shook the complete terror his name filled her with.)
As it turned out Quinn was no legend and when Sesha managed to escape his coffin she came face to face with one of her lifelong fears. She wound up killing him, and discovering his secrete. Duke Alius Quinn was a shell being used by an alien parasite. When she damaged the body beyond repair, the parasite used the dead body to attack her one last time and try to transfer itself into her. She bit through the creature while it was entering her mouth, but couldn't prevent the small portion of it that did get in from entering her system. The parasite--Teekan Klaren Xentros--made its way straight to her brain and rendered her unconscious, then began to take its revenge. Xentros had not known fear in centuries, and Sesha had terrified it when she'd killed the host and more when she'd severed its single-cell body. In turn, Xentros intended to defile and degrade her and, when it gained more control, to turn her into the same monstrosity it had made of Alius Quinn.
Sesha fought the thing as best she could but, in the end, she had to find help. Michael Dillon, Wade 'Cowboy' Dillon's brother agreed to help her for a hefty price which included cash and sex. (She would find out much later that Michael had been convinced that she had murdered Wade.) Before he could help her, however, Diamond got to him and Mayhem snapped his neck.
Sesha was left with a choice of trying to kill herself--which Xentros assured her it would not permit her to do--or seeking the help of a man Michael had told her could also help her: Doctor Miklos Senz, who was employed by Jack Diamond.
Sesha made a deal with Jack Diamond: she would marry him and she would help him become Governor of Traynor Island if he would have the parasite extracted from her. And to cement the deal and make sure she didn't renege, Diamond told her that her uncle Kazumi was in a hospital "somewhere" and he'd be safe so long as she kept her end of the bargain.
Sesha continues to fight crime even as she helps to elevate a criminal to govern the island. She can at least help keep the public safe until Diamond becomes Governor Diamond and then..."then" she'll deal with later.
The sexual adventures Xentros indulged her in for its amusement, and pleasure, and in an attempt to wear her down have changed her. Before Xentros invaded her, she'd had perhaps eight sexual liaisons in five years: the first with the businessman at the hotel. The last was with Wade "Cowboy" Dillon after a tough fight and several drinks. Now it's a rare day when she doesn't have more than one sexual liaison. She'd wondered, privately, if a piece of the parasite was still in her, but dismissed that idea quickly. "I'd know. I'd be able to feel it, and the filth would be growing, trying to take over again. That isn't it." And Jack Diamond has assured her he didn't tamper with her or, more specifically, order Syko to tamper with her. Syko also denies having done anything to her, and makes a point that Diamond wanted Volt to make the decision to marry him, and to let him "penetrate" her, as Syko put it, voluntarily.
"No," Sesha has decided, "it's me. That...thing...found something inside me and unlocked it; blew the door right on open and y'know what...I suppose I should have thanked it before Doctor Senz killed it. Gordon Drake is right: I work hard in the ring, I fight hard on the streets and I deserve to indulge myself in playing hard."
And as for Jack Diamond, Sesha has told Gemfyre that she has to do what she promised and help him get into the Governor's office. She gave him her word and, more importantly, Dynamo's life depends on her doing what Diamond tells her; on dancing when he pulls the strings. Once he's there, though, he's in the public eye, and may be exposed for what he really is, then impeached and finally tried for his many crimes.
That's what Sesha Endo Diamond, still AKA Volt, hopes.
