So you've heard me babble on about Project E for quite a while, and it might seem that its more babbling than results... well, I'm afraid that's going to be the case until I've got something good enough to sell hehehe!
Bear with me guys, its a whole figure and I'm ONE DUDE! I am still determined to make her, and as the comics will progress, so will Project E. My main goal with PE is this: I'm going to try and make a nice replica of a female human being the way they evolved (or if you're religious: created). I have two main criteria for this figure: 1, she has to be an improvement over V4, and 2. she must be a good excuse for me to ignore other good figures like Genesis.
Now, before I make a total fool out of myself, Genesis is not a bad figure, there's much you can do with it, if you use DS. With Poser Genesis is still not that great. Tried it several times: confusing, unstable, messy, huge and difficult to customize. But most of all, not made for Poser and way too much DAZ ego. I don't plan PE to have the crazy versatility that Genesis has, I don't really consider that necessary. Human Beings rarely morph into cave trolls from what I remember. If you want Anubis with a pussy, then Genesis is your deal, and there are a few options for pussies on Genesis. No I'm not going to do that. Why?
Its a lot of work, not something anyone can do over the weekend. Lali's Bits took well over a year to develop, and more importantly, the morphs were tested during comic-making. The original Lali System figure was 2.5Gb, it was chock full of experimental morphs. It is a system of parameters and dependencies interlinked in a way that even puzzles me today. To do that for Genesis would simply require me to use Genesis from now on. And that's not going to happen, because Genesis is a pain in the ass for me. It has a totally different base code, it relies on subdivision which makes detailed morphs impossible to get right, and like said before it was not made for Poser. And even if I did take the task on, I'd take forever to make it because I'm also making comics, and by the time I'm done, DAZ will have come out with Genesis 3 or Corinthians 1 or Revelations 1.
This is not DAZ bashing! Genesis is a fine figure, but not for me, or for the way I prefer to do things. Which brings me to an important thing I realised recently. In this 3D art industry there are at least two types of vendors: the art vendors and content vendors (there might be more, but they are not relevant for what I want to say). Art vendors are relatively free to choose what items and figures they use in their art, they don't need to follow any trends in this industry to be successful, provided that they make something appealing to look at or read. Content vendors cannot do this as easily, unless they're ground breaking. Content vendors need to follow trends and make content for things that are currently of interest in the industry to be successful.
I found myself trapped in the middle of these two classes of vendor when I released Lali's Bits, and therefore suddenly felt the need to excuse myself for not making similar systems for other figures such as Genesis. Even with Dawn felt the pressure because everyone seemed to be excited about it for some reason. That was a total waste of energy, looking back haha.
I started off as an art vendor, or more specifically, a comic vendor,
