So, where are we now? Its 2013 and there's a lot happening in the world of 3D figure art. Smith Micro, DAZ and now Hivewire3D release their figures, and a lot of chatter, opinions, ideas and criticisms ensues. That last part is inevitable, yet it doesn't seem acceptable. What seems to be forgotten is that these developers pretty much determine the scene. If someone develops a 3D figure and omits a certain aspect of it, that means that the response will accommodate for it. So in other words, no expression morphs = some vendor has to make them. They affect the 3D community.
Is it bad? No, in fact in most cases, it is good. Vendors get the opportunity to make content and make a living. The only 'bad' thing is that it costs the vendor time to make it. But in turn that is good because he/she gets paid for it. But this mostly concerns clothing, hair, morphs, FBMs.
3D figure modelling is becoming better and better. Poser and DAZ Studio are both becoming very intense applications and along with the renderers available that work together with these applications, the results become more and more amazing. This is now the point where the quality of meshes and 3D models will start to reveal their shortcomings. Anatomical inaccuracies, morphological issues, lousy texturing. And therefore, also crappy genitalia.
Last I looked, genitals were attached to a body. You pull on the genital, the adjacent body gets pulled along. Hair kind of grows out of a body and the contact isn't very intricate. Hair props and figures are not so problematic (although a good hair prop is rare). Clothing is draped over the body and has no biological contact at all. So those items are not an issue. But genitals are now becoming an issue, especially if you want to do hi-quality pornographic art.
There you go, pornographic, I said it, and I am not ashamed. But pornography seems to be associated with immorality, no doubt due to our Christian past, and/or due to the bastards that have abused the natural impulse to be free about our sexuality. Immorality is something we've always been gambling with, as humans. We struggle to accept our nature, and much rather accept a fantasy to worship, than to face the cold hard truth: we're animals.
But we also have a brain, and this brain protects us from unnecessarily screwing things up for ourselves. Off course this doesn't always work in a few of us; I believe we call them criminals, rapers, abusers. What do we do with them? Exact the justice system on their ass. But for the rest, we avoid them and their world. This is our morality.
However, we gladly mix it up, especially when we get bored. It seems that we gladly write about them, fantasize about the shit they cause, and how we 'good' people usually prevail. Books, movies, comics. The more immoral something is, the more naughty something is, the more forbidden, the more inviting it seems. The more interesting.
Forbidden. Whatever is forbidden, seems important. And therefore we track it down, seek it out... and get in trouble. And we learn... or die. And forbidden also means you're limited, bound to a certain area in space or time. We humans HATE that. It fuels our rebellious nature, driven by the need to be on top of things, to find the ultimate security, either in wealth, in society, or in religion. To be limited is to miss out on things that could make your life better. You could call it 'curiosity'. Columbus discovered America because of this curiosity. Millions of men and women flirt with each other, daily, and have sex because of the same curious feelings, and land ourselves ina relationship we actually didn't really want. These feelings are so powerful, that if we don't acknowledge them, they can fuck things up in a major way.
It compels bored husbands, desperate housewives and confused pastors to troll around on pornography websites late at night, and get themselves into all sorts of trouble. How many times have we heard of people cheating on each other, pastors molesting choirboys, wives getting themselves pregnant of the next door macho (there are even scientific papers that show that this is a statistical constant in society). The worst thing we can do, is ignore the animal within, and pretend to be higher than, or above, the flesh and blood we're made of. It is, IMO, the reason why evil can still prevail. The best way to win a battle, is to know your enemy better than you know yourself. that way, you can see what's coming.
So naturally, whenever I come across a hint of this pious asexual nonsense on the internet, in real life, or wherever, my alarm bells start going off. I will meet you with great scepticism, and I will feel a great need to condemn you as a tremendous bullshitter. I have seen too much death, suffering, deceit, murder, barbarism, agony, back-stabbing and all-out evil to believe that you are free from all of it. No, most likely, you're just rich, and you can afford to be moral. And out sexuality is a major part of this convoluted human nature we are marinaded in.
Rarely there will be humans that are truly free, and morally pristine, and usually that goes paired with a free sexual expression. Sounds weird huh? But its true. There are off course the rotten apples amongst us, the immoral perverts that use sex to solve their subconscious issues, they are a big problem, like those messed-up catholic fathers. Stay away from them. But when you become accepting about who you are, and the fact that one day you're going to be rotting in a grave somewhere, stuff like sex just becomes fun, normal, and almost trivial, and the oppression of it becomes offensive.
Rarely have I found such a kind, close-knit, helpful and supportive group of people as the 3DX community, almost no doubt due to what I am saying above.

I am a story teller, I like telling stories about our human nature, particularly the funny side of it, the stupid things we do, the trouble we get ourselves into.
...because they live in Mormon country. Guys, I live in a country in Africa where pornography is ILLEGAL, and I can get kicked out of the country if they would find out. Does that stop me? No. I like what I do and I'm not going to let any medieval law screw that up for me. So no excuse there.
Funny, just had a whole discussion about my concerns about Dawn over at Renderosity, with great uncle LROG among others. Seems like an ok dude, others were a little more judgemental. I couldn't really gather what exactly was going on but I had the feeling that criticism wasn't welcome.
Why the fuck is it always a war when it comes to DAZ-Poser, Dawn-V4, pussy-neutered? Has everyone forgotten what its about? Art! Fun! Entertainment! Amusement! Arousal! Why not cater for everyone? Some people on Rendo started babbling on about stuff being PG and not wanting to go into areas that might lead to dodgy shit like child pornography. Who the fuck said anything about that? I hate the idea of child abuse like any other healthy human too, but must we then lock ourselves up to prevent the sickos amongst us from carrying out their perverted fantasies? No fuck that. If I see anyone do that I'll kick the shit out of them myself! But guess what? I don't do that! I've got normal healthy adult fantasies that I wanna tell stories about.
Porn has been around for centuries, ever since we were painting on cave walls. For the most part, we have successfully kept porn away from those parts of society that it shouldn't be affiliated with. Why is 3D art suddenly such a problem? Why is sex such a problem? this is the bloody 21st century, and still we're as shy as they were back in the Garden of Eden. Guys, sex is part of who we are, its what drives a significant portion of our brain function. Look at the media, commercials, advertising on DAZ and Hivewire, ladies magazines, heck... men's magazines! its all based on sex and sexual arousal. Type in sexy words in Google search and your browser will be FLOODING with sex. Its big, its bigger than God! And guess what, its healthy human function! If your religious, God gave you a cock! Take it up with him if you has issues with it.
Art has always been actual. Sex is actual
Guys, I make erotic comics, fun erotic comics. They tell a story of a fertile young lady that wants to do the impossible and does the naughtiest things to get there. Its amusing and fun. I have no issues and no ego thing going here, I just enjoy entertaining. I don't care if I would do it with a V4 or Dawn, as long as the story works.
But making missing parts for a 3D figure is time-consuming, and very hard to do. Not everyone can do it, I can barely do it. But I needed to make one because V4's butt and genitals were appalling. It would downright kill my stories. Its like getting all warmed up for buying a Ferrari only to look under the hood and fund that the engine has been replaced with that of a Fiat Uno. So I made it and is cost a heck of a lot of time. Plus the tech was so complex that some customers came with problems that i didn't have an answer to.
I have been promising a comic now for over half a year to my fans, but Lali's bits has slowed me down because is FUCKING POPULAR!! Now why is that? Well maybe because there are many people that want it too. Yeah, they exist!
Now they come with Dawn. Its the same old shit, but then with better shoulders. And they seem pretty dead-set with their PG stuff. Its their choice, sure. DAZ doesn't seem to wanna change their minds either. So they leave me with no choice. I was a little hesitant before, but now I know I must do it. it would make my life SO MUCH EASIER!
I don't wanna fiddle with props and bundles any more. I want a fully functional woman, that can wear all the shit I have in my runtime, and has a pussy. I also want the community to have a choice this time, and show those company how can also be done. I will try to provide a genital-less version for those that don't want it, and maybe even a lo-res version.
