Those scripts are often encrypted, locked or whatever, I can't edit them. How do I get around it?

3Feetwolf did not encrypt these scripts.

You can open them in a text editor and make the changes (right mouse click and chose open with notepad). Dont forget to save and backup under a different name otherwise you will break the old scripts.

Hi,
Last month I have updated NGV8 so that it can be applied to g8.1f. However, some users found that some material setting scripts had problems. I have fixed these and just uploaded the new installation package. Once approved, you can re-download and install it to get full support for g8.1f.

Thanks so much for this, you have shut me up as I speculated that you wouldn't be supporting this I was wrong!

I think it's safe to say that we're all glad to know you're fine :)
Will there be a notification when the shop has cleared and upped the item?

You should get an email saying "Product Name" has been updated and you can re-download etc. Sometimes the message will even include what was updated.

My guess would be unless testers have found something needing fixing, it might be mid week to end of the week or so that the update appears. If something does need fixed then it is anyone's guess as the fix would have to be completed, re-uploaded, and re-tested all of which adds time to the wait for it to be updated.

Updates would logically not be updated immediately. Core has to be done first and a bit of patience can take us a long way. Also, whichever script is encrypted, it won't

matter if Wolfie can fix it all. Give him time :)

Hi there,

The modification of the expansion pack will also be completed. It will be uploaded for review within a day or two.

First thanks 3feetwoolf for the update!

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to work for me:

  1. Completely reinstalled the update.
  2. Inserted default V8.1
  3. Applied NG
  4. Ran update materials script.

This results in a light triangulish area around the gens:

Any idea what's going wrong here? Anybody tested the update?

Thanks in advance.

I have noticed in my testing that the update material scripts are not always adjusting for shader differences ie, it is applying the texture maps, but still using Iray Uber Shader. Easy fix is to just apply the PBRSkin shader to the NG surfaces. (I set it up via the script menu to make it faster) The problem is it seems to be finicky as to when it is or isn't applying the shader from V8.1

Example when testing it, out of a dozen different loads of New Gens on V8.1

3 times texture and shader were correctly applied automatically on loading,

3 times texture and shader correctly applied when update script was used,

5 times texture updated but shader didn't (fixed when I applied PBRSkin Shader to New Gens)

1 time I had to manually apply the PBRSkin shader and manually copy and paste material from V8.1 body to NG.

As it seems a bit random as to whether or not the new shader is being applied when New Gens is applied to V8.1 (Or any other figure using the new PBRSkin shader) I'm not sure if the error is in the script or just in how Daz Studio is interpreting/reading the scripts upon loading NG or running the update script. One thing with computers if an error is easy to replicate it makes it easier to find and fix, if the error seems to be random in when it pops up it makes it harder to replicate and in turn harder to find and fix.

Thanks for sharing this! Very insightful analysis - I'll try applying the PBR shader manually again and will report my results then.
