Okay I'm a fool. crazy

I figured it out after looking at the start of your script. var g_IrayPath = getAbsolutePath( "/Shader Presets/Iray/DAZ Uber/!Iray Uber Base.duf" );

I didn't have that file on my system. I didn't know it was a separate install. I thought it was included in the Studio 4.8 install and I haven't needed to use it as the character/clothing products I've bought included iray shaders. (Can you tell I'm a Poser user?). I

Works great now. False alarm, sorry! I love this product. yes

This is great if you have any idea how to do whatever Xameva did - but I don't. I am finding it really difficult to get the gens to match the skin.
I have owned the gens for some time, but have only just tried to use them and I can't get any natural-looking female to match. V7 with her metallic skin is fine, but I want to use my own figure based on G3, and the gens just come out weird.
I am sure it is my fault, but would welcome an idot guide to applying the right mats (assuming they are what I need.
Thanks

Basically, you need to make sure you have the Iray Uber Shaders installed.

Daz website
--> Log in
--> My account
--> Product Library
--> Search for iray (I think)

I forget where they are or what package they are in, but some of that stuff is not in the default install for Daz. You'll have it in your product library on the Daz website, but it may not actually be installed.

(I beta tested 4.8, so I never had this issue with the Uber Shaders...)

Thanks. Does this mean this only works with Iray, which I find reallllyllllylllyllllllly slow rendering?
All I have is leather and fur iray shaders, and when I search Daz I get the following:
DG Iray Toon Styles for Gen 2
IG Iray essentials V6 and M6
UHT hair shaders for Iray
IG Iray essentials - Dragon 3
Lune Nails for G3 females
Mec4D Unshaven 2 for Genesis 2 Male(s)
In my Daz library in explorer I can see the relevant file, but I don't know if it is functional or how to do what Xameva described.

Hmm.

This thread says "Default Lights and Shaders"... but I don't see that package.
http://www.daz3d.com/for...re-the-iray-uber-shaders

It could be in Genesis 3 Starter Essentials. That definitely is not a default install package, although it's free.

So if we assume that it is installed (not that it is showing in DIM) how do I get my women to look natural, please?

An image would be helpful in suggesting dial changes.

I think there is a way to get to 3delight, although I use Iray myself, even if my machine is a several years old AMD laptop (albeit with an a8 processor so I have 16GB RAM).

There's an attach file button below the text response box when you post to the forum. I suspect EhJay will be giving more precise info.

As for what to post in an image, anything that illustrates what you don't like. Your description could mean a variety of issues, and I think we can be more helpful if we saw what you are seeing.

Outstanding product! Having one small issue though, when using some morphs like Karen 7 or Gillian I get shearing on the internal parts of the model. Any idea what causes this?

Top is Karen 7, bottom is Karen 7 and Gillian applied

I have the box which allows me to tick to 'Attach files to this post' but ticking it does not bring up a method for doing so. There is an icon with 'Insert Image' but that demands a URL.
I have tried copy and paste, but to no avail.
Even 'Priview flashes a blank screen too fast for me to preview the posting.
Grrrr.
AHAH! Posting the message opens the option dialogue

Okay... I think I maybe misread.

So you are using your own textures on your own figure?
What UV did you use to wrap the textures around?

Here's Carmilla for V7, 3delight materials. The scripts can handle both 3delight and Iray, but if the scripts don't have the right UV, then it can be an issue.

Hello,
First, please make sure that the 'Default Lights and Shaders for DAZ Studio 4.8+' is installed into the correct directory. I suggest that you use DAZ Install Manager to download and automatically install it.
And then if you want to use your own figure, please make sure your textures name are specification, for example:
Torso Diffuse Map - TorsoMapD.jpg
Torso Bump Map - TorsoMapB.jpg
Torso Specular Map - TorsoMapS.jpg
I think these two steps should be able to solve your problem :)

Yes, this is weird.
I have studied this issue, but did not find the answer.
Perhaps it caused by some kind of internal mechanism of daz studio?
I hope other people can give me some tips...

I am not sure if the figure illustrated is my own skin, but I will try to amend my own textures to meet the official names as 3Feetwolf suggests - I hadn't realised there is a standardised terminology.
I have had a similar problem with 'standard figures, though (including new TJ) whereby white (?fungal) growths edge the genitals themselves. As I am rarely interested in actually portraying genitals it hasn't psrticularly worried me, but I want the facility, if you know what I mean.

The white coloration is a result of the LIE (Layered Image Editor) settings. You have to open the anus and torso maps up in LIE to adjust the color to fit the skin you're using. You may also have to adjust the color of the remaining maps as well.

Not sure.

At 100% Karen, if you add Gillian, I believe it also adds Victoria 7.

So you become above 100% in base figures (Karen plus Victoria).

Perhaps you need to keep the % at 100% in some combination of Victoria, Eva, Bethany, Karen, and Josie?

Can't say for sure since I'm not at my Daz computer.

Gillian doesn't add Victoria. The shearing is most likely a result of the auto-follow feature. Since the gens don't have character-specific morphs for Karen or Gillian or the others, DAZ Studio does it's best to refit the gens to each character shape. Works fine on the outside, but the internal meshes get distorted.
