1) what brought you into 3D?
A cute accident... I was researching an animation project, for a music clip, circa 2008. At the time, I had only the consumer experience of 3D. The project didn't come to life, but, since that point, I was hooked. Learning curve was long, my hardware at the time could barely handle rendering... but, in late 2011, a major hardware upgrade allowed me to step forward into the realm.... not entirely unsuccessful, I hope.
2) How did you discover Renderotica?
Through an artist search. The artist was Hellboy, whose work I stumbled accross, an literally blew my mind.
3) How did you choose your nickname?
Back 13 years, I used this alias, asa stage name, for EBM/Industrial DJ gigs. I didn't stay in that scene long, but I kept the alias, even if I had changed my official stage name, to DJ Martynov
4) How long have you been creating your artwork?
technically, since 2008... but, the period between 2008, and 2012, was mostly learning, and had little to no renders produced. If I could date my virginal full render, it would be... January 2012.
5) Where do you draw your inspirations from?
Everything, really. But, for a good majority of my images, photography is my inspiration key. I grew in a family with a strong photography influence. My stepmother was an amateur art photographer, and, when other 80s boys would drool over porn, I had Helmut Newton's monochrome nudes to drool over.... a bit of that, is visible in my black and white pieces.
6) what are the specs of your render machine?
It's a humble little baby, really... but, with enough nerd guidance, sturdy as hell...
Asus Motherboard (P8H61-M LX), Pentium [email protected] Ghz Dual Core CPU, Nvidia GT 620 VGA, * Gbytes RAM (2*Kingston 4096 DDR3 Modules), with two SATAIII Hard drives (500 Gbytes each, Seagate) and a Verbatim 1TB External drive.
7) what is your favorite work you’ve created?
8) Out of all the various art mediums why 3D?
Well... I can't draw a single straight line, to begin with. I have ideas, images if you like, in my head, but, without the help of Poser (or DAZ Studio in the beginning, or, now, hexagon, and Blender, that I began learning), would never come to life.
9) What are your plans for the future?
To refine myself... not just in 3D, or music... but to everything. I try to live under the Principal "I live, therefore, I learn", whenever possible. Not always easy though, as I can be stubborn and opiniated sometimes.
10) who are your favorite artists other than yourself?
Hllboy, Prosp, Darkway, Kristin, Affect3D, Ergenesis... pretty much all of the Renderotica pool, when it comes to 3D erotic art... for traditional arts, I'd say Dali, and Helmut Newton.
11) If someone reading this wants to start creating their own artwork what words of advice would you give them?
Trust your instinct, and do NOT give up... if you FEEL good with what you do, on early stages, you will eventually get inspired to learn more, both on your own, and through more traditional schooling.
12) When developing your works, what's been your most influential source for ideas?
My mind... I close my eyes, turn off any sound(s), even if I have to use earplugs, breath slowly, and lose myself in my thoughts for a while... once the idea is defined enough, I rush to get it going.
13) Any hints on what your next project is going to include?
I am hoping I can return to a goal I left behind a year ago... creating a full scale graphic novel. I have a few ideas, and, I really feel like I should get it going this time
14) Do you have a job outside of 3D or do you consider this your full time occupation?
Music is my main industry, so far... as for the future... who knows.
15) With all the recent advancements in 3D technology what excites you the most? What do you dread the most?
I'm a nerd... nothing really scares me with technology. And, nearly everything excites me... especially Oculus Rift. I'd love to be able to run a 3d Artwork project, made through Oculus, and designed specifically for Oculus.
