So it's now December, about five months since DA, without so much as a warning, banned me and deleted nearly 20 years of images and stories, about three thousand in all. While I have the renders, the stories are presumably gone forever, as they were written during the posting of the images/
Up until that point I had never recieved a warning for any of my artwork except for a single message a few years previous where it was suggested that set a "strict mature tag' on the posting., which immediately did. For good measure, I put that tag on any item with the slightest bit of nudity or violence.
Ironically, some months later I recieved correspondence from an admin assuring me that the image had not violated any terms of service and that I should not be concerned.
Anyway, towards the end of my time there, it seemed that the admins were targeting women who made erotic art and men who made art with erotic themes. My last month they changed the terms of service to prohiit "non-consensual activities" and on a single day they deleted six of my images (some magic number perhaps) and then banned me permanently and deleted everything.
My near twenty years of paid membership apparently counted for nothing, as did my nearly 10 years of annual purchase of calendars (from photos I had taken on my yearly holidays), coffee mugs (with my artwork printed on them). etc.
Of course, as a private entity they have the right to do what ever they want with their site, even if it deprives them of income. But I am bitter, and rightfully so I think. I played by the rules of the site until nearly the very last moment, and had I been given the time I would have deleted the images that they found violated their new terms of service.
While I am not perhaps the ideal artist for this site (my works contain much violence and very little sex), it seems that I have more freedom here under the current terms of service than I did at DA. I'm thinking about a paying membership (I guess they call it premier?), the reason I hesitate is because of paypal (we've had credit cards compromised thoriugh paypal). I'm wondering if credit cards aren't an option because of the nature of the site.
Anyway, that's my back story.
