King Rhaegar Targaryen calls the Lannisters into the war. How do i respond?
I look over Rhaegar's card. What kind of King is he? A skilled fighter, brave and smart. But he carries the Lunatic trait, like Aerys. Problematic.
Do i really want to join Robert Baratheon?
Looking at Robert's card. Wow. He married Lyanna Stark. So did the events at the Tower of Joy take place? Irrelevant, however interesting. Robert has been wounded in battle, though. He may not live, and that might end his claim on the Iron Throne. Not a good choice if Rhaegar remains King.
I choose the loyalist side, and the Westerlands join Dorne and the Reach in support of the Targaryens.
Immediately, i call in the banners and march North to the Riverlands, laying siege to Riverrun while the Tully forces are occupied against the Targaryens. It's a total victory. I capture Lord Hoster Tully, his wife Lady Celia, the young Edmure Tully, Lord Brynden Blackfish, and Lysa Tully (who was married off to the Blackfish in this game!)
Being ruthless (as Lord Tywin), i throw Lord Hoster Tully into the oubliette and force myself on his daughter Lysa. Hoster survives a month in brutal confinement, and young Edmure becomes the new Lord Paramount of the Riverlands.
This forces the Tullys out of the war against the Targaryens. I also notice House Arryn is already out of the war, or did they ever join? Jon Arryn is not of age yet, being younger than Robert Baratheon and Ned Stark (both in their early 20s at the start of Robert's rebellion).
I send my armies to lay siege to Storm's End.
And look at this! My clever vassals did the work for me! They figured out that Tyrion really isn't of my line! He's really a bastard... and my new heir is Cersei (with Jamie disinherited as a member of the King's Guard).
Wooo! I win by losing. Normally it's bad when a heir is disinherited by illegitimacy, but it works for me. That bastard Tyrion will never rule Casterly Rock...
Of course, i need to arrange a matrilinear marriage for Cersei so that my line will continue.
...
And the war concludes. Robert Baratheon is thrown into the dungeons beneath King's Landing. His marriage to Lyanna Stark is dissolved, and she marries King Rhaegar after Elia Martell conveniently dies of ill health. Robert is sent North to join the Night's Watch.
Lord Eddard Stark is sent North to the Wall, becoming the new Lord Commander of the Night's Watch. This dissolves his marriage to Catelyn Tully, although their daughter Jeyne becomes the new Lord Paramount and Warden of the North. (Robb and the others hadn't been born at the start of Robert's rebellion).
Stannis becomes Lord Paramount of the Stormlands, and he's unmarried during Robert's rebellion. I send Cersei to marry him now that i have two new children.
My new heir, Tyton Lannister (Tywin's son with Marissa Lannister, Joann's younger sister)... I immediately strange a betrothal to Jeyne Stark. This will put a Lannister in Winterfell!
