Description

It was dark, but you could still see the shadowed gleam reflected off the smooth metal. They looked like hulking monsters poised to strike anyone stupid enough to walk by. There was also that smell, the acrid tang of servo motors and hot, old lubricant and tonight, the dry raspy odor of sand and sulfur from the planet they were on.

A sudden whine and a guttural hum crackled to life as the generators kicked on and the suits started running their daily test check. Servos clicked and chattered as the program verified all the physical mechanics and the vid screen popped on as the software begin its test check run. In 20 minutes the ship would wake everyone up to start a new day.
