CHECKOUT FOR ALL 3D PRODUCTS HAS RETURNED!
After a lot of work behind the scenes, we're excited to announce that checkout has officially returned for all 3D products across our network!
For those who just like to skim, here's the quick version:
We now have a new Content Rating System for CGbytes. Products are marked as GENERAL, MODERATE, or MATURE By default you'll only see General products until you change your preference by clicking on the “CONTENT RATING” button near the top left of the store page.
Checkout has returned for all 3D products.
Comics and Image Sets are not available for purchase yet, but we're actively working on a solution and will keep everyone updated as progress continues.

RATINGS SYSTEM:
As you might have noticed, today all marketplaces have some sort of a rating system for their content, this has been adopted to help satisfy modern marketplace and payment processor requirements about people accessing content they might not want to see. These rating systems are not a mandatory thing mind you, but overall our industry has adopted them, and when implemented properly they really do not cause much fuss.
Our CGbytes Ratings System will be as follows:
“GENERAL” (Think of the G rating for movies) This rating will cover most products in our network, things like characters, Hair, most clothing products, set/scenes and environments, HDRI’s and more.
“MODERATE” (Think of the PG rating for movies) This rating will cover some products such as lingerie, some swimsuits of the more revealing nature, some pose sets and other products.
“MATURE” (Think of the R rating for movies) This rating will cover some products such as interactive poses, Adult themed clothing where parts are missing, Adult themed props, pose sets, gear and others. Anatomical elements (formally known as ‘naughty bits’) should be back for purchasing Wednesday.
By default, your viewer rating will be set to “GENERAL” you can change this to whatever you want just by clicking on the “CONTENT RATING” button near the top left of the store page and selecting the content level you are most comfortable viewing.
If you are only here for basic products, select “GENERAL” or “MODERATE” if you are here for everything, select “MATURE” you can always change your setting again anytime you want!.
FULL CHECKOUT RETURN FOR 3D PRODUCTS:
We are pleased to announce that our checkout for ALL 3D Products has now returned! We're not entirely sure who's happier about this, you or us.
I’d like to explain how things work right now, because it is a bit different then what some of you might be used to, my fellow vets of the sites however should be reading this and saying “Ohhh, I remember this 🙂”
RENDEROTICA:
This is your main community hub for everything SFW and NSFW, community forums, blogs, galleries, contests, render rallies and more. Clicking on the CATALOG button will show you ALL of the products in our network
Through the Renderotica catalog button, every product we carry will have its own dedicated page that shows the full info of the product, along with all of the promos provided by the Content Artists who created them.
On those display pages for 3D Content, you will see the button “BUY ON AFFILIATE STORE” Clicking that button will take you to that 3D Product’s page on CGbytes where you can then add it to your cart / checkout.
CGBYTES:
This is your main community hub for everything SFW, community forums, blogs, galleries, contests, render rallies and more. Clicking on the STORE button will show you ALL of the “General” products in our network (Moderate and Mature products can be found via their various categories such as DAZ/Poses or DAZ/Props
When you get to a CGbytes 3D Product page, depending on the product, you might find normal images, placeholder images, less images than its Renderotica display page or “Render Reference” images. Those Render Reference images are being made by us in order to provide appropriate images for those store pages.
We chose to make those images ourselves to not put extra work on our Content Artists so they can instead focus their time and energy creating great new products for everyone. This is an ongoing process, so check back often as more placeholder images are replaced with full Render Reference images.
COMICS AND IMAGE SETS:
While we have been successful in returning all of our 3D Products to our checkout system, we still are unable to offer our comics and image sets for sale.
While both are digital products, comics and image sets present a different set of marketplace and processor requirements than downloadable 3D assets. Because of that, they require a separate solution.
We understand how frustrating this has been, not only for our amazing Content Artists, but also for their loyal fans and customers.
We are currently working to find a solution to this, and we will keep everyone informed as progress is made. In the meantime, make sure to add the comics and image sets you want to your wish list so that as soon as we are able to offer them for sale again you’ll be easily able to find them and purchase them.
Once again, we want to thank all of you for your support and your patience during this time, it’s meant a lot to us, and we hope that these updates have meant a lot to you as well, we know how loud silence can be, and we know how important updates and transparency are for our Content Artists and community. Just know, any time things get a bit quiet, it means we are hard at work behind the scenes!
We look forward to the future and being able to get back to improving the sites, rolling out updates and adding new features soon!
