Golden Palace for G8M - Mat copy not working, asks for G8F

I don't see anything in the instructions relating to this; after loading the Golden Palace to G8M and trying to copy the figure material, I get the message "Genesis 8 Male not found. Remember to load it on G8F first."

Is the G8M figure (not the Graft, not G8.1M) selected in the scene?
Do you have any Editor Tools active?
Does it occur after restarting DS?
What version of DS are you running?
