OK, I'm feeling stupid and out of practice with DAZ Studio...

I've purchase and downloaded the files for "Headlights For Genesis 8 Female" and extracted them to...

          C:\Users\Public\Documents\My DAZ 3D Library

And I also tried...

         C:\Users\My Name\Documents\DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library

All the files appear to have extracted to the proper folders/locations, but will not show up in DAZ Studio's Content Tabs, and I've searched through the entire content directory trees and not found any sign of Headlights. I expected to find the Headlights content in the Anatomy directory, but it isn't there. (I'm using DAZ Studio 4.15.0.2 with Genesis 8.0 & 8.1 Female.)

Note:  I've also purchased "Golden Palace For Genesis 8 Female" and it installed successfully and shows up in DAZ Studio and can be applied. I did not do anything different when installing/extracting the Headlight files then I did when installing/extracting the Golden Palace files, and yet Headlights will not appear as part of DAZ Studio's Content.

I'm wondering if I am missing something obvious?

Any advice?

Also, is there any additional information I can provide to help figure this out?

Side Note:  I was surprised that the image/icon for "Golden Palace For Genesis 8 Female" does not show up in the Anatomy directory, in the Smart Content tab, if Genesis 8.0 Female is selected in the Scene tab. The image/icon only appears if Genesis 8 is not selected and then the Images/icons for the different files that make up Golden Palace can be accessed and applied to Genesis 8. It just seems strange to me that I can't access Golden Palace while Genesis 8 Female is selected in the scene.

First.... restart Daz Studio to be sure the Data Files are up to date. Then check again, yes in G8F/Anatomy

If not, to insure proper install

1. Open DAZ Studio
2. Go to the "Content Library" tab
3. Select "DAZ Studio Formats"
4. Select "My DAZ 3D Library" OR "My Library" (where you want the item to appear) [I personally dump all items in the "My DAZ 3D Library" so I don't have to hunt anything down, and use "My Library" for my own self created stuff] Regardless wherever you want it it go....
5. Right Click the Library folder of your choice
6. Down the pop up menu select "Browse to Folder Location" (This will open the drive and folder on your computer where the content folders should go (ie: Data, People, Runtime))
7. (In a separate window) Unzip your Downloaded Zip File and Copy the Content Folders (ie. Data, People, Props, Runtime) to this Library folder, OR use a program like 7zip to Open the zip directly then highlight and copy the content files (Data, People, Runtime) to your chosen Library destination.

8. Close and restart DAZ Studio to be sure it updates with the new files.
9. When you go to your Content Tab/DAZ Studio Formats/*Library/People/Genesis 8 Female/Anatomy/ "Headlights" Should be there

Addendum:

Smart Content Sucks. It requires that compatibility and categorization data is also properly entered and loaded to your items. So you may have access to items you own that you wont find in smart content because the added info isn't in the database.

Even if you were to take the time to categorize your items, the categories database search I find is a better method to find items as you can locate items that will autofit to your character in addition to just the ones specifically compatible with it.

@BitterGentGent... Thank you for taking the time to suggest a possible solution. That was a helpful review of some of the steps I've already been following with a few new insights.

I did finally get the "Headlights" to show up in DAZ Studio, but they didn't show up quite where I expected them to. Therefore I missed them after I finally tried installing them to...

"C:\Users\MyName\Documents\DAZ 3D/Studio/My Library"

Rather then...

"C:\Users\Public\Public Documents\My DAZ 3D Library"

Headlights simply will not show up in the "Smart Content" tab, however, as the Golden Palace product did. Which was a surprise and a little confusing at first. Not a big deal in the end, but still confusing.

Thanks again.

The smart content won't show up on its own if you manually install it. From the zip file go to Content>Runtime>Support and double click the .dsa file. It'll open daz with a prompt, click accept or whatever and the meta data for smart content will be loaded and you'll be good to go.

@BrimstoneOmega... Thank you. Unfortunately it didn't work.

I'm exhausted. It's been one hell of a week so far. I'm going to try again tomorrow with a clearer head.

Alright, that was the quick and dirty way. Try this instead.

Right-click your Smart Content tab and go to Content DB Maintenance, select Re-Import Metadata, depending on how much stuff you have installed it may take a while for the next window to pop up. You can either search for the product you need to add to smart content, or just shotgun blast everything you have, which will take a good long time. If that does not work either... my guess is the support file isn't installed correctly for some reason.

@BrimstoneOmega... Still no joy.

The first thing I did was  go through the zip file contents and compare it to what I have copied over to "My DAZ 3D Library". I think that is the forth or fifth time I've done so. I can find nothing missing or improperly placed. Should be good to go.

I then booted up DAZ Studio and tried going to "Content DB Maintenance" and selecting "Re-Import Metadata" as you suggested. I then chose the Headlights product from the list of products given and proceeded.

With that process completed I shut down and rebooted DAZ Studio.

Headlights still will not appear in the Smart Content tab. (Bangs head against wall.)

Just a thought... What happens when you untick the "Filter By Context" box on the bottom left of the smart content pane? I don't have Headlights, so I can't check it, but I know somethings, like Riding Academy that Meipe made need to have either that box unchecked or the correct figure selected first.

Checking or un-checking the  "Filter By Context" box had no affect on making Headlights visible in the Smart Content tab.

Thank you for all the suggestions.

It looks like I'll just have to ignore the Smart Content tab when I want to use Headlights. Instead, I will have to use the Content Library tab... Again, not a big deal just so long as I do have a way to access Headlights, which is more then I had when I started.
