After a long time away from 3D art I've come back to using DS. I'm just starting to try to use G9 for the first time, and have never really used geografts and geometry shells before. I've otherwise morphed up a character, but have hit a big problem with both Breastacular and Headlights for G9. The G9 has a bunch of morphs applied, mostly FBMs including some HD ones. And both Breastacular and Headlights, loaded onto the G9, do not align with the G9 mesh. With Headlights the rectangular areas are slightly depressed into the surrounding breast. With Breastacular it's distorted and depressed along the lower edge. Am I missing something to get them to align with the surrounding mesh? I know HD morphs don't work on the geografts, but the Dragihadzitosic Real Breasts and Real Nipples geografts work fine on the same morphed G9, same HD FBMs applied. I was trying to use your two products and  Dragihadzitosic's two to see which I could get the best results with for my purposes, but currently his geografts work and yours ... don't. Any ideas?

This is weird - I was sure that the first time I tried the DH Real Nipples there wasn't the depressed-into-the-breast effect I had with Headlights, but now there is. And it appears to be because of the Van Helsing HD morph I have applied, which is ... irritating. But there's still the Breastacular problem. This is quite a muscular character (not just the Van Helsing morph), and the Breastacular problem is that the morphs are taking the lower inner edge of the breast as being significantly further out on the mesh than the lower inner edge and bottom of the pectoral muscles, leaving a weird grooved step effect that's very unnatural, whereas there's no such issue with the DH Real Breast product. But that doesn't have all the movement morphs.

7 Months later and there was no reply from Meipe. Weird. So I have also been searching for a solution to this problem. The only solution I have currently, from testing and pulling my own hair out is that the Genesis 9 model must be in BASE resolution and not High Resolution. You can add as much sub-division as you like to the base resolution and the geograph will not sink in (with the headlights). However, even at Sub-Division 1 with High resolution on your Genesis 9 model and the Headlights drop into the breast enough to be noticeable. If you turn the Sub-D up more, they sink in more.

As of right now, there is no option to use the Headlights with better than Base resolution from what I can see. And the problem with that is, because of the stupid design choice by Daz to make one model for both Male and Female, the female chest looks square and blocky without high resolution. So you are basically left with two options, have the Headlights graph sink in and have nice, round breasts, or have the headlights be flush with blocky edges on the breasts.

Breastacular is a whole other issue. While it fits seamlessly for me, it takes more of my breast shaping control away. It does not auto follow the morphs I had applied. It takes away any natural shape I may have applied and to be honest, while I love Meipe's products, the morphs are typically exaggerated and weird where breasts and nipples are concerned.

I really hate G9 but keep buying the models because their face geometry and skin textures are very nice. The chest and navel areas losing the geometry that previous generations had is the only major draw back and to this point, I have yet to find a product that solves these issues in any meaningful way and I have purchased every single one I can find from every single vendor I know of.

There isn't really a solution because DAZ have dictated that HD morphs can only be created by their PAs on the products that they approve. Therefore it isn't possible to create an HD graft, and so the graft and the body do not properly match and never can. The only thing you can do is to turn down the SubD on the figure which somewhat defeats the whole (alleged) purpose of the Genesis 9 figures.

Thing is, I went back to G8F, had the same problems with Breastacular and Headlights on her, but also other creator's breast grafts, and in the end gave up and just used the G8F breast and morphs which just about met my needs. I did try turning off the HD morphs (needed for the character) to figure which were affecting it, and with no HD morphs I STILL got mismatches between the bottom edge of Breastacular and the normal G8F mesh with it  just not aligning with the Freja8 morph in the bottom of the sternum area, which wasn't the only morph in use but was the base I then morphed from qnd the main issue. So I gave up on grafts (I posted a render of the issue after Meipe asked to explain what issue in another thread - the suggestions thread, I think - but nothing came of that). I had to find a Morph set and SculpTool solution to fingers pressing into the breast. I keep thinking I might like to move to a G9 version of the character but am put off if none of the grafts will work, but the base DAZ chest-and-morphs are no good, unlike G8F. Need to look for some maybe HD G9 breast morphs, I suppose.

There's probably more of an issue for me because she's a reasonably muscular (not She-Hulk or even heavyweight real world bodybuilder) defined, low bodyfat character who wouldn't have implants, so for realism she has fairly small, natural breasts (at that bodyfat level she's possible but unusual to have any significant breasts at all), and the focus for most products are huge breasts, not small natural ones.

When I said Base Resolution and not High Resolution, I did not mean morphs themselves. Select your figure and under the Parameters tab, General Tab and then Mesh Resolution tab. You have to change it from High Resolution to Base Resolution for the graph to blend seamlessly. You can turn the Sub Division up as much as you want as long as it is Base Resolution. The HD morphs will deactivate automatically (or rather, lose finer details) if Sub Division levels do not meet their needs. This is the best solution but it is not a great solution. Hope that helps.

Also, what I have decided to do is just use morphs and call it good enough. Sonsy has some good nipple and areola morphs but keep in mind that because G9 lacks polygon totals in the chest area that you will never get the great morph definition of chest morphs on G8 figures or G3 figures. The geometry just isn't there as G9 shifted polygon density to the face area. I swear, if Daz just put out a high polygon model that used the G9 head and a G3 body, we would have soooo many options for detailing our model's form.

One other work around. I have found that you might have to use displacement and normal maps to really make the nipple area pop. The lack of geometry on G9 in the chest area can be deceptively changed by having a displacement map for the nipples to raise the areola and creating exaggerated nipple and areola detail with custom normal maps. I use an outdated version of GIMP with a normal map plugin to create all of my character normal maps. I will often create two maps for the head and body, one at normal levels and one at much more extreme levels so that I can blend character lips and nips into better detail levels without making the skin look like Swish cheese.

Well, at the moment I'm part way through rendering out one section of a story (posted at DeviantArt) with a G8.1F version of this character, and I'll stick with that to the end of this section. I've been vacillalting about whether to finish making and move to a G9 version of her for the next section or stay with G8.1F. I actually bought those Sonsy G9 nipple morphs last night while they were on sale! IF I decide to try to move to G9, I'll keep your suggestions in mind; so thanks.

Meantime I just wish Meipe would make a good proper FBM Freja8 morph in Breastacular the way he has for many other characters. I'm managing with just morphs, but I'd have liked to use Breastacular for some things. I manged to get fingers pressing into breast tissue using other methods, but it was a real pain.

Have you purchased or seen Morph Master on the Daz website? I use it a lot for collision with model/model interactions and more often than not, save the morph when I like the results. One of the best uses for it is that is can create an object for collision with as many scene objects as you like. For instance if you have multiple models on a bed, with base Daz you can only add a smoothing modifier to the bed that will apply to one model at a time. Morph Master will let you create an invisible object of all of the models, in their current pose and you can apply smoothing to the bed for that created object. Or you can create model morphs based on their smoothing results when an object collides with them.

Morph Master and the other plugin D-Force to Morph are huge parts of my workflow. D-Force to Morph in particular is something I use to get clothing morphs not only for better fits to individual models but for transitions of their clothing being removed.

Oh FFS! Morph Master didn't sound familiar, so i looked it up in the store ... and found that I bought it some time ago (the PA sale last month?) but then forgot all about it! Side effect of one of the pain medications I have to take due to disability is it totally screws up my memory, long term and also moment to moment. Reading the store description I MUST get into it, and could have used it to do several things easily I've sweated over. Must dig out the user guide before I forget again. I feel like banging my head on a wall.

Thanks for posting that and reminding me about something I'd stupidly forgotten.

D-Force .... mmm. I did a lot with DS and was reasonably expert from when it was first released in 2004 to 2007, then it all more-or-less came to a halt when I became disabled. Have found myself able to pick it up again since late last year. Am struggling with all the new stuff (had never done an Iray render until last year and I'm still fighting with Iray lighting and materials). D-Force is one thing I'm definitely struggling with. So far I've only successfully used it to make 'dropped on the floor' (or a bench) morphs in some clothing items (And two of them I had to take the morph from part-way through the D-Force sim just before the items exploded.) My moment-to-moment memory issues make learning all this enw stuff ... interesting. It would probably help with clothing one character, but I haven't figured out how to use it on a clothing item that doesn't support the multiple morphs applied to the character, which auto-follow seriously messes up, and which make the character larger than the clothes.

I used to be a dab hand at fixing clothing-over-morphs issues with D-Formers, but they've changed D-Formers since 'back in the day' and ruined them. The field now applies as if it was over the default figure in the default stance still at world centre now, which makes it murder trying to manoeuvre it to D-Form and then create morph to correct an issue on a posed and morphed figure nowhere near world centre!

I've had some minor successes using SculptTool, though i really don't have it properly under control yet.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Sounds like one more reason to stick with Genesis 8. I use AI on all the faces of my renderings. For animations, expressions and stills. All the facial improvements that Genesis 9 offers have become irrelevant to my workflow.

You really do not need the G9 head anymore if you combine AI with your renderings. The only exception is if you're doing side head shots. AI still sucks at swapping faces at weird angles. I prefer shots where the character is at least looking at the camera to the extent that AI can work with the face.

If I wanted to use A.I. then I would just skip modeling and rendering all together. I can get the results I want with what I have. Also, A.I. is not ideal for anything that you need consistent results for such as the faces of characters in a comic series.

I came back to DS last year after some time away, trying to help someone doing AI art whose AI couldn't understand the pose he needed a character in to fill a commission, and I found he could use images as prompts so dusted off DS, posed a figure as wanted and gave him a rendered image for use as a prompt.

But i'm also doing stories (but not comic format), And my understanding from that AI image creator was that ti would only accept a certain number of details in prompts - if you gave more it was random which details got included. And it left it pretty impossible to maintain the details of backgrounds, a lot of details about characters etc. Rndering in DS I have to do all the details, which can be tiresome, If a scene takes place in a car park I ahve to populate the damn place with all the cars not just say 'in a car park'. But i get a consistent scene for use in multiple images from differnt angles following the action, and a consistent character.
