Hey all,
Using Daz 4 and 6 with GP G9F and I noticed that between the two the materials appears with a shine look like plastic under V6, while V4 that shininess isn't there. This is viewed within the viewport
Any ideas as to why there is a visible difference? And how to correct it?

Hi
Yes, I saved and reloaded from 4.24, that's where I built the scene I believe. Then loaded it into 6 and in one of the instances I noticed the difference.
I went into a few areas, render settings and workspace settings, and reset to default.
In Perspective viewport with texture shaded, 4 it's darker, while in 6 the same scene is brighter and the clitoris is has the shine to it.
In 6 a rendering the shininess is replaced with splotches of white. Making it wet.

i've noticed some textures can look shinier in 6 when viewing as texture shaded while they're not in 4.24, but i haven't noticed anything in renders.
edit to add: the screenshots you've got are both of it under texture shaded, but do you have any for iray? Edited by user Thursday, July 30, 2026 11:16:54 PM(UTC)

I'm polishing the new "Material Copy" script just now, that will works both for DS 4.24- and DS6+. I'll try other copy methods to fix for this shininess issue...

Here are two new Material Copy scripts:
https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fi/fxvylouvtqd84za32fb0a/GoldenPalaceG9_MatCopy_Update.zip?rlkey=g64z7y6rd7xdq1p8l309dw1jj&dl=0
- The first one is the older MC, adapted to work for DS 4.23 / 4.24 / 2025 / DS5+. This one uses internal deep shader copy methods. Sometimes it has gloss issues.
- The second one saves the G9's body shader somewhere on your computer, reload and apply it on the graft. It's less friendly, as it'll ask you where to save the shader, and to locate it when reloading (just save it on the desktop), but as far as I tested the result should be bulletproof (see picture attached).
So the rule should be to normally use the first script, and if there is a bug, try the second one.
If you have bugged characters, please test the second script and tell be if it solves the problem! :)
I've also built a "Superficial" Mat Copy script, super fast. I works if the graft already includes the current G9 shader, so I'm thinking about including the Daz PBRSkin as the default GP graft shader in order to be able to use this fast MC in most of cases. Meipe attached the following image(s):
