When I load up Daz 4.24 AP works just fine, so I think worst case scenario everything seems to work if I save things in 4.24 and load them into 6, but it's just an annoying extra step!
Daz Studio 6 updates the core program version, and scripting language, as such all scripts, and plug-ins will need to be re-written for the new core/scripting language. So all the nice little Mat Copy scripts, and shell fix scripts and everything like that will need to be updated to work in Daz Studio 6

Phooey. Well at least the script still works in 4.24!

There are going to be hundreds, if not thousands, of scripts and plugins that will no longer work with DAZ Studio 6 and a lot of them will likely never be updated, so don't get plan on getting rid of your DS 4.24 any time soon. Fortunately they will both run happily on the same system as they install into separate folders.
I saw a post the other day (on the site that begins with a D that I have been prohibited from posting on because I dared to be critical about some of their products) that wondered whether a translation layer would be possible so that DS 4+ scripts and plugins would run on 6. I think that's unlikely to be possible because of the internal changes. Maybe some enterprising tech billionaire could have an AI trained so that you could just ask it "Convert this script from DAZ Studio 4 to DAZ Studio 6" I don't know, maybe ChatGPT or something can already do that. :)

You have to separate scripts and plugins. For plugins, you would need to create a compatibility layer between libraries or have a compiler that can target both libraries and code that is compatible with both (or compilation directives allowing to modify depending on the target) - not impossible, but the libraries are not made by DAZ, they use existing libraries, so, most probably they do not the knowledge to do something so complex (license should not be a problem, if I remember well, those libraries for the interface, are actually "open").
Plus, it is in their vested interest to avoid that ;-), because in this way they force people to pay the premium subscription if they want to continue having some plugins that cannot be bought anymore.
For scripting, it would be simpler, and there are already examples, even at the level of programming language, even if not "on the fly", e.g. f2c. But again, simpler does not mean simple in absolute (it depends on various factors, included if the documentation about the scripting they have inside DAZ is good or not, and I doubt it), plus, just by chance there is new product on Daz, a "linter" for scripting for the moderate :-P ;-) list price of 99 USD (well, was discounted at 69 when I saw it, but still...).

I think you meant to say it is "not" in their vested interest to update the plugins, if it's DAZ you're referring to, because obviously DAZ would love to obsolete the 4.x series and push users into re-buying everything they already have just so it keeps on working. I'm pretty sure they'd also prefer to push all plugins into their Premier pay monthly subscription tier, like they did with Mesh Grabber.
It'll be interesting to see where the overall compatibility with 6 is in a year from now. At the moment I work in 4.24 and only ever use 6 to render, simply because so many ot the plugins and scripts I use don't work.

Let's keep in mind that some authors have supplied v6 scripts rather rapidly, Meipe being the primary example.
We can still all prepare characters in v4.24 and use them in v6. I'm picking up at least two more fun Cock'o'Rama assets to expand my little fun box of tools.
@Laudanum , do you have the time to update your Advanced Pussy and Cock-O-Rama scripts for Daz v6 ? Perhaps a cooperation with another script author could help. Or releasing the source of those material copy scripts could help. The community has a way of picking up the slack sometimes.
Please let us know what is possible. Until then, we'll contend with using v4.24 for setup.

No, I really meant "it is", because you if look at the phrase I say "it is in their vested interest to avoid" creating any mean to provide compatibility with the new DAZ version for plugins and scripts for the old version.
Same concept expressed by you, with a different twist of words - I honestly still think, as I said somewhere else (not on this site), that the offers they are doing every day this month, are because they know they screwed up and are screwing up their customers with DAZ 6.
