Let's make this happen, ladies and gentlemen. If you want to see much more content for G8 like I do, go to Meipe's latest poll on X and vote for it.

x.com/meipe1801721/status/1952063598466871783?s=61&t=b3zEl4RrEUTDbFE1ZASDvQ

I don't hate G9. Hate requires effort, and hating a 3D mesh is more effort than I'm willing to give to it. I just...I love working with G8. It's easy, it takes up so much less system resources, it just does what I want it to do. I know that a lot of you feel the same way. I've read your comments, I've seen your reactions to my other posts.

Right now, G8F is leading slightly in the poll, with one day left. Let's make this a thing, let's do our best to shift the focus back to G8. With numbers comes strength. I love all of you just exactly the amount that you're comfortable with. We got this!

I don't 'do' X, so here's my vote.
Genesis Eight!
I also still use Vicky Fourpointtwoplusplus a LOT because of her massive wardrobe which has never been equalled,
her closet busting collection of expressions and poses, and of course her gorgeous characters. I love that she
loads instantly and looks just the way I want.

I don't use Twitter either.

My vote is For Gen 8. Either male or female.

Not a fan of Gen 9.

I don't use "social" media at all, so I won't be able to vote. For any of my social'ish media needs I rely on Reddit, which is pretty fun to use once you got a good idea on how things work. And as anonymous as you want it to be, that's nice too.

But anyway, I'm also still rooting for Genesis 8!

Seriously you guys... I can't help but wonder if the acceptance of G9 is really going as great as Daz Studio tells us. I've been testing for this awesome site for well over a year now. G9 came out roughly 3 years ago and yet my plate is more than often still filled with (usually awesome) products for G8, on a regular basis! Notable clothing vendors to me (!) are Matt_IO, CR8, JMR, RuDY and even EdArt3d (to a lesser degree (note: with 'notable' I basically refer to vendors who's name(s) I began to recognize because they pop up more often on my plate)) and all these still sell G8 products, sometimes separate but more than often you get G8 plus G9 (!).

Then lets talk props and tools... Davo recently released his latest devious device 12 and you guessed it: includes poses for all our beloved characters: Genesis 8 and 9. Or tools? Our own LightBlue recently released his universal shell fix script and you probably guessed it: both generations are supported. Heck... nothing negative here, don't read between the lines please (!) but when VunterSlaush released his ducttape prop for G9 only it honestly surprised me. G9 only? This is not a 'hidden' complaint mind you, quite the contrary: having only to test one generation also means a little less work for us product testers ;)

But wait... there's more!  (sorrry ;))

I get the impression that even Daz3d realizes as much. If you want 'full' support for G9 you need to buy into the "starter essentials expansion" at least (for anatomy (brows, lashes, gens....)?) but probably also the expression and both shape packs. This normally sets you back an easy $90. Until it doesn't and you can buy the full bundle for a meager $9,99. I only found out about it this week because I got a product on my plate which used a G9 "base" figure (talking about Victoria and/or Micheal 9) which... also sold for $9,99 each.

Meanwhile my favorite Sukai 8 is still $45 (maybe not a fair comparison, but still...).

Maybe I'm biased... but I don't think the G9 acceptance is going over as smoothly as Daz3d expected... definitely not as smoothly as Genesis 8 went.

Given that some of us don't use Twitter/X Perhaps the next poll @meipe creates can be made from an online poll maker instead so that all of us can get the chance to vote.

That may be the way to go. I signed up for X just for the polls and as of this posting, G8F is behind by one vote. The results might be different here with a targeted audience. Let's just hope for the best but keep the expectations low. Personally, I find G8.1F to be a happy medium with having HD details and features

we need to send DAZ a message showing that third party vendors DO NOT want Genesis 9!

I voted for G8, and it seems the G8 category is dominating with over 70% of the vote

Likely because he already had Ducttaped and Ducttaped-2 for G8 released long ago, so it is a case of updating older products to work with G9

Mods, Admins, Powers That Be, there used to be an option to add a poll directly in a post, but it seems to have been fired. What are the chances that it could be brought back? It would solve the issue of users not being able to directly show their support for something because, for reasons I can fully understand, not everyone has or wants X/Twitter. Everyone could vote, and it would be a targeted audience, not literally everyone on X that might come across it.

Possibility?

Great minds do think alike, I was also thinking in this direction and looked some things up. Seems it has been this way for years now, but the irony is... I can still create new polls on my profile, but I can't share them.

Gave this another try just now and the main issue is that if you add a page to your profile you can add some widgets to 'm, but the poll isn't part of that. Not sure why.

Not yet. 22 minutes left on the poll but G8F has 74% of the vote.

Well, G8F won! I'm glad I'm not alone in my desire to keep using this figure considering that G9 is a downgrade IMHO.

Same here..  Well deserved! I dunno what it is but  .... Something else isn't right with G9 IMO. Because from my current point of view... Daz3D wants to have their cake and eat it! At the time of writing I am preparing a post "elsewhere" (one half of the other big three) but...  So.. I have  Victoria 9, with all official skins. Victoria 8 gets me tingles, 9 does nothing for me (this is NOT an issue!). But then we have her 2nd "blamished" skin preset. I don't mind, like at all. But why are those Daz3d hypocrites still trying to sell G9 with more sexy skins? All the time?

My gf is into professional graphics (long, long story), I asked her. She asked some of her coworkers and this became a fun (silly!) mutual effort. 31 people looking at Daz3d never noticed Victoria 9 with blamished skins.

While their other brand female models...  wait.. are they trying to make us forget about the whole thing?

I'm beginning to think there's more crap going on here other than G9 itself.

One has to wonder why Daz needs to reinvent the wheel each time a new generation of characters comes around. The models could be made with backwards compatibility but they never are. It's kind of like Apple changing the charging port on each generation of devices they make. It's very frustrating and discouraging from a consumer point of view

I'm excavating this thread because I really didn't feel like starting a new one to address this topic: why does G9 stuff sell better than G8, even though so many of us have expressed our disdain for G9? It has been mentioned by several vendors in other threads that while the poll favored G8 heavily, their G9 stuff sells better. So why is that?

My theory is this: those of us that favor G8 have been using the figures for what, eight years now? We've all amassed a large collection of add-ons and accessories for these figures, and a lot of the stuff that is coming out now feels...redundant. On the other hand, those that favor G9 are still building a library for that figure, and a lot of what is coming out for that is new, at least for that figure. So, they're buying it while those of us in the G8 camp are looking at what's coming out and seeing that it's something that we already have four or five of that are very similar.

Look at the other render site. There are two vendors over there that make mostly clothing items for G8F. I won't mention the vendors by name to keep myself from running afoul of the mods, but their names start with S & R. Their clothing items are typically very, very good and I have a lot of them. That being said, how many sets of crop tanks and short shorts do I need? How many long tanks do I need? I have a lot of those exact items so when a new one comes out, it had damned well better innovate in some way or I'm probably not going to get it. That doesn't mean I'm not using G8 or that I don't respect the vendors work, it's just that my clothing library for G8F is massive.

For G8 items to sell, they need to be something fresh, something new that those of us that have been using this character for so long do not have. Vitamin D is a great example of that. It's new, it's interesting, and no one else has done anything like it. For G8 stuff to sell, it needs to be fresh, it needs to be something that we don't have and will use.

My .02¢

I've noticed that some vendors are catching on to the market for erotic artists and have started making clothing sets with openings and morphs for undressing the outfit or item, and also morphs for the garment hanging and lying on the floor. It makes the item much more versatile and fills a gap that few products do. Most of these are called special morphs, and have caveats that they are not for every pose, but for poses close to the default zero position. Some traditional garments (like men's boxers) can achieve the pull-down look by using autoflow, but if there are no morphs to adjust, it results in poke through or an unrealistic look.

Sometimes you must look at the 'read me' file for the list of morphs to see if the garment is capable of this, because the product promo shots want to appeal to broadest audience and downplay the undress states. I'm always drawn to the products that look realistically as if they are in a state of undress, which is an opportunity for developers to fill a niche and create more business.
