20th of April, 2016 is a special date to me. Now an easy 8 years ago, it was this date when I started to become truly invested in Renderotica. Thing is... before I discovered this place I was working out my erotic fantasies "elsewhere", courtesy of ThriXXX.
Don't worry, this isn't some hidden advertising. Quite the contrary actually because this week I learned that the ThriXXX company is shutting down *. To be honest I kinda saw it coming, but even though it's been years since I was active "over there" I still think this is sad news. Not to mention that both companies never been real competitors in the first place.
Anyway, all this also made me realize once again just how special it is what we have here right now. And so... I got a story I want to share.
Sex games
So yah, I enjoy erotics from time to time (duh!). The thing is though that I quickly realized that there were better ways to enjoy all this other than constantly trying to find more and newer stuff. How about... making your own erotic material somehow? That's how I discovered Hentai3D, now a seriously dated sex game. It allowed you to place figures in a scene and then either "interact" with them (like dragging a hand icon around so that you could "touch" them, after which the figures animation would react to that) or... you could purchase an expansion that allowed you to make your own poses. Either animated or interactive.
The so called sales model was easy: selling contents such as sceneries and assets.
Limitations
The game was pretty awesome, but at the same time there was also only so much you could do. Of course that's also where the community came in: dozens of content creators made awesome mods for the game and changed things around. For example a standard office scenery for fun office sex got quickly modded into a semi-official ThriXXX office.
But in the end there was only so much you could do. You see, you were never really posing anything in this game, merely positioning characters and then using sliders to get things in place. Imagine using Daz Studio and then only using morph sliders to set up the models in your scene... that was roughly what this was.
Don't pick this up as criticism please... the experience was awesome. But eventually you'd want more out of it. For example: how about being able to truly grab a dildo vs. seeing gaps between a hand and the object? Or how about a cleavage shot but without seeing the clothes "floating" around the character vs. being strapped firmly around the model?
And then you discover Daz Studio.... while it takes way more time & effort to set up scenes the results are also a lot more realistic looking in general.
... and then I eventually discovered this place.
The magic of Renderotica
yeah, yeah... I am biased for several reasons. Even so...
Seriously you guys... news like the above makes me kinda sad. But it also makes me happy that I eventually discovered this place and became a small part of it. Places like these are special IMO.
Why? How about this forum? How about this very post of mine mostly talking about "another company"? Just so we're clear: their forum, their rules. At the time of writing I honestly hope that I'm not overdoing it too much but if I did... then that's on me.
Vendors, consumers and in between
Sure... Renderotica is a sales model of its own, its very own market place. Heck... if you're reading this: check the left side of the screen. Plenty of advertising to go around.
But here's the thing: when I look at that sidebar (time of writing) I immediately see a product which I was involved with... as a product tester. Everything you see went 'through' us product testers.
And I can honestly say that there are plenty of products on Renderotica which - in my opinion - even surpass the quality of some of the stuff you'll find on the Daz3D market. Context applies of course, please don't pick this up as if I'm claiming that one market is better than the other.. it just doesn't work that way.
What I am saying is that just because you need to manually install the goodies you get from this place doesn't imply that they're less in quality than "that other place".
You do realize that plenty of assets from this market can be used to make some commercial erotics of your own? I mean... let's talk Final pleasure fantasy - part 6. I don't only recognize the used props, they're also part of my own Daz Studio library! ;) (Hi Davo!).
Now, I dunno about you guys but if you ask me then those promo images alone are already highly arousing (one of the reasons I felt like sharing).
And then the fans....
You guys do realize that anyone can register on Renderotica for free, and then share their own fantasies and what not?
