I've been into 3D and CG art for a very very long time - ever since I first discovered TrueSpace on a Computer Arts CDROM... I played around with it, nothing of any substance unfortunately. I tried and failed to get into Blender, although I still try to do some modelling in it now (in fact I'm working on a set of my own prop ideas which I have sketches and notes for).
Daz3D was a revolution - and it also introduced the naughty side ;). I've been having fun getting back into it recently, and wanted to improve my options, so after some searching I ended up on this site's store catalogue instead of the one I intended to visit! I ended up buying some extras and already can see lots of options, plans, ideas and the like. Right now I'm just getting back into lighting and rendering setups and hopefully at some point soon I'll have some work to post. Glad to see there is a community based around this area of 3D art.
Looking through the gallery - it's amazing what can be achieved and what people are making today. Very inspirational :D

Daz and Blender are free and are pretty robust. They are deep programs that can do a lot of things. I'd encourage you to keep trying Blender. When you need to change the mesh or the uvs of an item, it can come in very handy.

Yeah, Blender is crazy powerful. Just seeing the opensource films they put out with it was enough. It's deep, challenging and yet I've enjoyed that. Having used Daz a bit for assembling a scene is great too. Lots of good tools out there. I come from working in photography and with a few design agencies so I've got Photoshop skills too. Nice to have something naughty to put it all to use for nowadays lol.

Welcome! This place is full of very knowledgeable and helpful people, feel free to ask anything. The artists are also very responsive, so if you have questions about a product or how to do this or that ask away. Glad to have you, and glad you accidentally stumbled on the site! There's lots of cool stuff here, and be sure to check the free section, there are quite a few gems (be sure to pick up the couch at the least.).
