I've been giving some thought as to how we can make this corner of the internet a bit more interesting, develop more of a sense of community perhaps stir things up a bit. Take the pan off the back burner where it's been simmering quietly and bring it to a boil in the forefront, if you will....

Someone suggested that the reason a lot of people don't comment much may be because they're embarrassed for their interests and may not want to draw attention to themselves... That's kinda counter-productive and not helpful to the cause...  Like I said we're ALL perverts here, all voyeuristic/exhibitionists to some degree, we like to watch, create and share our fantasies with others... It's what we live for, no need to be embarrassed, you're among friends, many share the same interests some have other interests, It's a you be you I'll be me kinda deal, no one here is going to call you out for being yourself... In fact, if you're paying attention, you may notice others are heaping praise upon you with their likes and comments, or thanks for your posts whether you share your works in the galleries, or simply comment on a topic or submission... If you don't feel like posting to the galleries that's totally OK too...But please don't fell self-conscious about saying whats on your mind... We can feed off each other, help each other out, grow personally and/or professionally as a community...

Maybe we should discuss tools and techniques more, where we're coming from and what we're trying to achieve with our art and storylines, in addition to 'where we can find this or that product' in these threads... Anyhow its just a thought... 'endeavor to persevere'...

Y'all have a great day.

I remember the times when I did photo manips. That was before Poser 4 or so. Long time ago. I even had my own website. Many people visited, but only maybe one % or less took the time to write something in the guestbook or in the picture comment. If I take into consideration the few views in the gallery (most pictures have below 100 views) it seems to be a good rating if you get 1-2 comments and a few likes.

I haven't been posting long enough to know what exactly constitutes a larger number of likes, but its ok. All I know is that I try my best to throw likes up and say a kind word or two and I know there are a few others that I see frequently commenting.  People who post stuff always want to hear from people who like what they do. I know I love to hear from people who like my picture stories I post. It does brighten my day knowing someone out there enjoys what I do.

One of the most common questions people post on the forums is "What do people want to see?"

Views, likes and comments on images posted to the gallery provide information about what people want to see.  The images in the gallery can be sorted by the most views, most likes, most comments.

Whilst this is true, it shouldn't compromise an artistic vision. We all have our niche interests regardless of topic - some people like certain brands for example over others and will migrate towards that.  Having the likes can give an indicator of what is popular, but the people who don't that particular popular thing will remain a silent viewership or in the background.

For me personally I like to: Enjoy the creative process, and if people are on board and like it, then great, enjoy the ride.  If not, I still create for my personal pleasure.  Whether it be 3d art, other art forms, music, writing, whatever.  Personal pleasure comes first, otherwise we can fall into a trap of creating content we're not 100% on board with an end up burning out/hating it.  Youtube is a classic example of this where people follow "the algorithm", end up creating content that they don't particularly enjoy and often can feel trapped in a workflow that they didn't expect.

I always took an approach that if only one other person liked something I did, that was enough - someone took the time to look/listen, appreciate, enjoy and respond even if in the most minimal way possible.  Just one person is enough for me.

Of course it is tempting to create things that you think others will like. Especialy if again you "have to render for 18 hours" to finish the picture you want others to like it. But in the end, if you don't create for yourself first and foremost what you like, you will not be happy.

I think the web is so saturated with naughty art ( and porn ) that the "Ooooo and Ahhhh!!" for pure viewers has diminished.

And your art is competing with 40 other things that are distracting viewers.

To get folks to give feedback, you need to get them invested.

Doing stories is the best way. If you do portraits... do a series of portraits that use the same character that seem to tell a story.

Then viewers will get invested in what happens next to the character they find intriguing.

My two cents

To be honest, a lot of todays porn bores me.  Just slamming for slamming's sake.  I prefer stories, sexy lingerie and some sort of seduction.  Something erotic. That's why I like to spend time with the 'make out sessions' usually, connecting the dots from point A to point B. Stuff to make the heart beat harder.  When I post single pics in the gallery, they usually lead to stories im writing and preparing to do art work for, also.

One thing I find is that the pics I think people will respond well to are usually not the ones that do really well.  But what constitutes doing 'really well'?  I just make sure to thank the ones that do drop by and take a look and comment. Sometimes I leave a comment for them, too.  Sometimes I leave a comment in the story section for anyone who clicks.  It works both ways, but I don't know if people check back to see if I replied to their comment.

For my part, I am finding that people really start to enjoy the characters themselves- maybe even routing for them.  Especially if any of my kinks are close to your kinks. I think people spend the time to check them out they become somewhat invested in them, doing whatever it is they're doing.  I particularly think its pretty cool when people recognize stories being tied together somewhat and hope for interactions with other characters in future stories.
