hello artists from the shadows . Here is my problem . I got a very low macbook and I never want to render nothing about my work because it takes too much time to make it . So i just like to work and screenshot it in the viewport . The displacement veins in dicktator aren't visibles , and i want to find another way to see it . I don't know a lot of english and it's been a long time searching for an easy and quick answer to my problem . I can see , for exemple , the i can put vein on equine shaft , but I don't know how tu make the same on dicktator . thank you for helping .

It doesn't work like that. You are comparing two completely different products. The equine shaft is from Cock-o-Rama, and uses a morph to create the veins. Futalicious uses displacement maps, which require Iray rendering to view them, either a full render or the Nvidia Iray Preview, which can be accessed from the viewport. You can also use Filament PBR preview to see the displacement maps. It's much less taxing on your system, but it won't show any increases or decreases to the displacement values.

In a word, no.

Daz Studio may be free, but don't let that fool you into thinking that this is a cheap hobby. I work with a desktop that was built specifically for this type of thing, several thousand dollars in just the tower alone, and it's still not enough sometimes, which is why I'm looking at upgrading to an Nvidia RTX 3090. Another $2K down this render rabbit-hole...

It's not that you can't use a laptop to do this stuff, but a low spec Macbook isn't going to cut it unless you can be really patient. My suggestion is, if you're able, upgrade your hardware. Maybe get a used computer, and upgrade the RAM and video card. Find a used GTX 900 series graphics card on ebay or something like that. Iray uses the GPU to render, so the CPU isn't all that important.

If you really want to play around with this, know that none of the products you can buy here and elsewhere are designed to look good in preview mode. Not one. Preview mode just gives you an idea of what the render will look like, and often it's not a very good idea. If you want to see the true beauty and artistry that these products can offer, you have to click that render button.

I still do that with my desktop. Even now, some of these scenes need hours to look good.

In this case I may recommend "Render Throttle for Iray" found at the DAZ store. Comes with several settings for iRay viewport and iRay render to quickly adjust quality and speed. And as already mentioned displacements need iRay either in viewport or in render to be visible.

Go to ebay and get a Dell optiplex business PC, and slap an rtx 3060 (not the TI version) in it. Maybe get a few sticks of ram, but be careful to make sure you get the right kind, ddr3 or ddr4. Probably the least expensive Daz render PC you can make and also be quite capable. While the 3060 might not be as powerful as the other rtx cards it has a lot of vram which is very important with rendering.

EDIT: I really wish we could link stuff here, but I just checked and you can get a windows 10 with an i7, 32gb of ram, and a 1tb SSD for $458 us and an RTX 3060 for between $300-400. So less than $1k for a capable render box. That's less than most gpus at this point, and likely less than you spent on your laptop.
