Last week, the hard drive where I put not only all of my poser stuff but also my DAZ Studio stuff, not only crashed but crashed so that it was totally corrupted and I couldn't even format it to start all over.  The hard drive was a new one that I had bought a while back to go into a HP laptop that I had salvaged.  The laptop screen failed and I pull the hard drive out to use as a back up for my new HP desktop because the Hard drive on it is kind of small.  (Hey I had to get what I could afford at the time and other than the small hard drive, it is a really nice computer!)  Anyway, being so smart, I pull all of my stuff for both Poser and DAZ off of the various thumb drives that I had used for backups and loaded them onto the hard dive that failed.  I had planned to re-purpose the thumb drives for back ups for art and writings.   Anyway, so now I'm back at square one or actually even worse since all the work that I had one several novels and strips were on that drive as well.

So this coming week will be spend trying once more to reload, located and in general rebuilding my Poser runtime.  I reloaded DAZ, but I really don't have room for both so for the time being DAZ will have to wait until I can get another drive to install it on.  Any load banging sounds you might hear in the coming week or so will be me, striking my head against my desk, wall or the door to my room.....

Bit of advice if you don't mind me saying....

I learned a long time ago of the dangers of a HD crash. I now have my main drives running in what's called Raid 1 array, basically it's two drives that are totally and completely mirrored. If one crashes, the other takes over, it gives you time to replace the faulty one with no loss of data, and no pain in finding all your software and re-installing each time.

Just for added measure, I also back up my Runtimes on 3 external USB hard drives.....

I learned this the hard way, which is why I'm offering this as a solution, I hope you don't mind....?

Hey Butch you seem to have some serious problems, Um yea what Fixer said, I have multiple backups of backups. I learned this while I was still working for studio's that insisted not only on me backing up on site, but also to their site as well. It made for some real interesting moments, when all hell broke loose. And yes I have had drives fail miserably on me.
I'm here for the donuts.....
Where are they??

I have a full back of by Daz library and run a daily cloud backup of my project folders that are kept on a separate drive. I keep my library and projects on high speed external ssd drives.

So you sleep on the couch instead?
