Include links of you can!
I've recently realized I have almost 500 pictures here on 'rotica. Some were done and uploaded within days, some were long projects or a thought that slowly took root. Some I'm more proud of than others for various reasons. I thought 'Wouldn't it be great to showcase the art we think of as our own personal best?'. I'll be talking about several of my own, and providing links to them. I hope many of you will as well! This is a chance to not only amp yourselves up, but to see what you personally liked so maybe you can grow of off previous work. I went through my full gallery and cherry picked what I think I did best on, from latest to earliest. So can you! It may be masturbatory, but we all need that sometimes!

'Morgan Teaches' series: I'm proud of this for several reasons. I love the lighting (which I'm not great at usually), the positioning of both the camera and characters, and the story. It's one of my 'sweet encounters', free of CNC or torture, and seems more like a love story then most of my others.

First part

'The Orc King': I feel like the character's voice really comes through in this one. I also like how it makes the reader wonder, is the elf happy in this new life? Is it Stockholm Syndrome? Is she secretly waiting for rescue? I also like the lighting and rugged feel off the environment.

The Orc King

'The Male Gaze': I love the comedy aspect of this, the mixture of short description with what the guy is actually thinking. This is also when I fully realized the benefits off post work, merging several things together on GIMP to see what I actually wanted to see and getting it right.

The Male Gaze

'The Studio Break Room': Inspired by a community thread and a comment by Davo, I was reminded how much I used to enjoy the old 'disclaimer' pages on porn comics. I also liked the meta humor and bring able to use a bunch of my characters.

The Studio Break Room

’Slow Fuck': I loved the combination of framing, posing, lighting, and an almost poetic story. This, to me, is one of my best.

Slow Fuck

'Egyptian Slave' series: I liked the simple brutality of this, and it was my first series (that I know of) to inspire others to write stories as well.

First part

'Master and I' 1&2: I love the showing off a healthy, secure, and loving D/s relationship. Erotic, but not necessarily sexual.

Part 1
Part 2

'Princess as Wednesday' series: This was the first time I felt I really dived into a true characterization of someone I'd created. She's cute, but can't read social cues. I kind of wrote her in this story to be on the spectrum, and felt it instantly fit her character in terms of compartmentalizing and misreading interaction. I've tried to do the same with my stories since.

First part

'String Quartet': I was in one of these as a kid, so when I wanted to do a picture based on a string quartet in my style I put a lot of feeling into it and a lot of time into the story. I tried to make each character feel distinct and unique. This was the first time I truly felt confident in a story, and the first time I truly felt complimented on my writing. Once again, the total package feels sensual, not necessarily sexual.

String Quartet

'Relaxation Station': To date, this is my most popular image. The art feels very blue collar-class warfare-entitled woman getting her just rewards. The story backs out up. And the semen drip from the guys dick to her just-used pussy is one of my favorite visual images.

Relaxation Station

'The Squad' full image series: I've toyed with the idea of making a comic since I started rendering. I think everyone does. Some do it, some do it in stops and starts. Some never do. The Squad was my first (mostly) fleshed out storyline, and is still being told. I made stock characters that took on their own lives and personalities, and I love them. I keep going back, not because they're necessarily popular, but because I think they have a story to tell.

Full Squad Photo
The true start

Honorable mention - 'Against the cage': One of my favorite artists, Davo, asked if he could turn it into a magazine cover. I was honored.

Against The Cage

'Don't Fuck With A Witch': My first posting. When I felt confident enough, even if it was a false sense of confidence, to show my stuff. This is an important milestone for any artist, and I still celebrate it.

Don't Fuck With A Witch

I've found that the renders I worked hardest on and what is popular are two very different things.

Images that have proven popular often feature a line-up of sorts.  Not really creative or challenging to render, but, for me, these generate more than 1,000 views and 50+ likes.  The hardest part is loading pre-posed characters and the memory limits of my PC.

Couple examples:

Scene from an Auction (1,274 views; 69 likes)
https://www.renderotica....blir&folderid=572139

Pre-Auction Quality Inspection (1,114 views; 66 likes)
https://www.renderotica....blir&folderid=572139

Too Many Choices (933 views; 56 likes)
https://www.renderotica....mp;searchhash=-122388424

The images that were most challenging for me involved mirrors (camera angles are hard) and small prop details (e.g., magazine covers)

A couple examples:

A Hard Lesson (812 views; 45 likes).  The pose, reflection and the magazine covers took some time.
https://www.renderotica....mp;searchhash=-122388424

Late Night Visitor (779 views; 43 likes).  My first attempt at lamp lighting and replacing textures on walls and clothing.  My favorite character.  Worked a long time on this and then Poser crashed deleting my work file, so that was it for this image.  I still like it, 'tho.
https://www.renderotica....mp;searchhash=-122388424

Sofie's Dilemma (738 views; 46 likes).  Home-made rack, re-textured props, expression in the mirror, hand poses.
https://www.renderotica....mp;searchhash=-122388424

BDSM Autumn Colors (379 views; 28 likes)  My favorite character, lots of prop detail, rendered leaves take a long time.  But generally a flop as far as popularity goes.
https://www.renderotica....mp;searchhash=-122388424

The Importance of Background Checks (369 views; 30 likes)  Horror image re-doing a prior image.  Mirror (sans vampire image), details in room, props and lighting.  Hard to do, generally a flop among viewers.
https://www.renderotica....mp;searchhash=-122388424

B&W images and re-dos of classic BDSM poses are among my favorites, but generally not well liked by viewers

Panic
https://www.renderotica....blir&folderid=572169

Classics 02
https://www.renderotica....blir&folderid=572169

My favorite images are my series where I use the same evil characters in various settings:

Anna at Work (approaching 100 images)
https://www.renderotica....ery.aspx?folderid=571883

Red Terror
https://www.renderotica....ery.aspx?folderid=572708

Unholy Order
https://www.renderotica....ery.aspx?folderid=572711

I'd like to post a poll in my gallery to see what viewers like the most, but I can't figure out how to make the poll software work.  Oh well.

I don't think I can get myself into too much trouble participating in this thread, so I'll play... ;-)

I'm proud of each of my images at the time I finish them. I consider each image the best work I could achieve at the time I created it, while never truly being happy with any of them... which I'm sure is the case with most artists. I usually think of my last image as my best work since I'm still learning and improving.

Since I tend to be a perfectionist I spend a lot of time on my images and therefore don't post images that often. I'm constantly amazed by how many images a number of other people post here. Other projects, work, and life in general simply won't allow me to be that productive. (I'm also very hesitant to share my work for a number of reasons.) I'll keep trying to post when I can, though.

~ ~ ~

The image I am most proud of at the moment is "Little Asian Dragon Tongues".

The next image I'm proud of is "Lil' Bo Loses More Then Her Sheep" because there were a number of firsts for me in this image. This was my first nighttime scene, first time using fur in DAZ Studio, and my first time really employing dForce on clothing extensively. Having created this image for the 2021 Halloween Contest, and running out of time, I don't consider this image to be truly finished, but there it is.

Blir, I do understand. Sometimes I make something I love, and think 'This is great! so many others will like it too!' and nobody does. Other times I make stuff that I know most will ignore, but I like it and that's enough for me. Personally, I've always enjoyed your work, and all the different facets of it. You always show excellent attention to detail. For whatever reason, 'rotica doesn't like to let me add 'Likes' at night, so I can't put them on anything you've posted in this thread. The ones I've previously liked are still there though - which includes both 'A Hard lesson' and 'Classics 02'! I also love B&W, and have had a hardboiled detective noir series idea for a long time. Keep making the things you love, regardless of likes!

Ciaran, Perfectionism can be a brutal thing. It makes you always looking for the next detail, the next improvement, everything you can imagine that you might think others might perceive. Sometimes it helps to take a step back. That being said, your images are FIRE. The first picture of yours I saw was "Lil' Bo..." during the contest. I was so impressed I clicked on your gallery that I imagined MUST be extensive. You only had "Test A1"... which is incredible. I thought to myself 'Either their a longtime artist who created a new profile, or I just really suck comparatively." If you don't mind me asking, why are you so hesitant to share? You can answer in a PM if you're more comfortable that way.

Who's next?

There is a bug in the web site software that affects with "like" button.  It started a month or so ago.  A couple viewers have complained to me about it.  I reported it, but, so far, no response.

The "like" button sometimes appears not to register when viewing the image and clicking on the "like" button, but does register when a viewer leaves the image.

For me, the like counter tells me what viewers like and what they don't, so it's an important component to the gallery.  I hope they get it fixed, but realize that it's a volunteer organization, so it must be a lot like herding cats.  <grin>

Your stats say something else -- 980 posts, some images with more than 1,000 views and 60+ likes.  Most present a coherent storyline and aren't just pinup posts or anatomy displays with no background.  There's some work involved that I, for one, appreciate. It appears that your audience does not think they are poorly done.

I feel that. I do the same thing to validate my work. I guess most artists (including you Fixer, who does great work!) Have a bit of crippling self esteem. That's why I started this thread!

And of course they're herding cats, there's a ton of pussy on this site! (Ba Dum Ching)

You're really kind, but those with lots of views and likes are years old, and have been built up over time, as a norm, my posts get maybe 20-25 likes.... And the thing is, I don't like my images, and it disappoints me with the time I've been doing this....

I tend to be of the mind that I'm as good as my last render, but there are a few that I am fond of:

This was my first Daz Studio render:

https://www.renderotica....38&artistname=wurger

This is one of my first series renders:

https://www.renderotica....37&artistname=wurger

A fav portrait:

https://www.renderotica....28&artistname=wurger

A series I enjoyed making:

https://www.renderotica....28&artistname=wurger

One of my favorite custom characters:

https://www.renderotica....25&artistname=wurger

Another fav:

https://www.renderotica....23&artistname=wurger

A favorite pose:

https://www.renderotica....13&artistname=wurger

An attempt to evoke Steve Hanks:

https://www.renderotica....11&artistname=wurger

Some of my all time favorites:

https://www.renderotica....10&artistname=wurger

https://www.renderotica....=5&artistname=wurger

https://www.renderotica....=3&artistname=wurger

My latest favorite (like how the lighting worked out)

https://www.renderotica....g-Snow?artistname=wurger

I tend towards portrait style renders as I typically only have about 30 minutes at a time to put something together. I don't usually have time to add an environment.

I'm itching to get a 3090, but I'm not holding my breath on the prices coming down. I tend towards 20% likes/views. I would probably get more votes if I went with giant boobs...

I agree with Blir. Ive been doing this for a while as well, and your accumulated counts and likes dwarf mine. Plus, Blir is right, the like button is broken, hence the reason most of your newer pictures don't have nearly as many. Lately I've been trying to go off my follower count instead. I've been a follower of yours for years! Several of your pictures are in my favorites. Some of the themes I like in your pictures are the frequent mid-undressing, imaginative camera angles, inventive use of props, and the look of despair and peril you give to your victims. I also respect that you actually FINISH series. Most of the ones I start I never finish, or post them sporadically. I'm STILL working on my 'Subject' series. It's only supposed to be twelve pictures (or actually eleven, since I combined two subjects) and was literally the third picture I posted on here. That was four years ago.

Your worth is not your view count, likes, or comments. We all look and hope for more, but they're not. Why don't you like your art? Is there a specific reason? You can PM me if you feel more comfortable that way instead of an open forum.

Absolutely correct.  Plus, bear in mind that those who post in the Gallery make their hard work available for free.  No charge.  No subscription.  Free.  Did I mention free?  If viewers don't like images or quibble with how one does lighting or rendering, they are free to compose and post their own images.  The wonderful variety of free images provide inspiration and ideas that everyone can use in their work.  I just hope this place does not close due to lack of support by volunteers, artists or viewers.

I always thought your lighting was your own stylistic choice. To me, it looks like the old grindhouse movies. They look gritty and rough, a style I love. Your poses are also great - exaggerated and slightly performing - like all your characters are hammy actors in something that would go on 'Mystery Science Theatre 3000'! Final thing: I fucking love your recent Waiting for the inevitable. I haven't liked it because it won't let me. I'm guessing it won't let others either. It's in my favorites though. Don't trust the like counter.

@ Fixer... Yep. An artist is usually never happy with his or her own work. Your images are definitely worth posting, though. I find myself agreeing a lot with what others have already said here in this regard. Keep producing and endeavoring to improve. It is a never-ending struggle, but worth it if you enjoy creating and making your visions a reality artistically. But you probably knew all this already. ;-)

I've never paid that much attention to the “Likes” and the 'Number of Views” here. It certainly is a pleasure and validation to receive a lot of Likes and Views, but I'm not going to worry if I don't , or let it stop me. I'm not in a competition with other people's art but rather in a competition with myself. The general audience here can sometimes be a bit fickle and prefer things that I don't, and I'm perfectly OK with that.

Thank you very much for the compliment.

Yes. Perfectionism is a double edged sword. On the one hand it pushes you to learn and do better, and on the other hand it can make it difficult to finish and let a project go. I've gotten much better over time at loosening up in this regard, and not needling a project to death.

Why am I so hesitant to share? OK,,, Do you have your tobacco pipe and notebook ready? Should I lay down on the couch? ...I 'm joking around a bit... sorry, bad psychiatrist reference, but seriously... and I'll try and keep this brief...

  1. I am an “Introvert”, and I don't use that word lightly. I use to have panic attacks when dealing with social situations. For example, I'd freeze up in classrooms when teachers asked me questions or when interacting with other students. Couldn't talk. I do not generally get lonely. I'm happiest when alone, or with family, or with a significant other. As I grow older I find myself more willing to interact with others. I also find myself always worrying about making social mistakes since I have so little proper experience in that regard.

  2. I grew up in a bad neighborhood with some of the worst public schooling in the state (think institutionalization in the worst sense of the word rather then education). I knew this because I was able to occasionally escape and compare other neighborhoods in the area. This, however taught me not to trust or even like other people when I was younger., which is a hard thing to grow out of. Later I was able to attend a private school with a much better class of people; socially, morally, and culturally.

  3. When I was younger having an artistic talent and not being good at anything else often led to jealousy in others and increased bullying, or people trying to take advantage of my skill in unacceptable ways. If that was going to be the result of sharing my work, then why the F would I share. Again, its just something I've had to grow out of. These days I really just worry about piracy of my artwork on the Internet.

Sorry. I didn't mean to be depressing, nor do I ask for any sympathy or replies... but you did asked. ;-) ...No worries.

Wish everyone well. :-)

Lets get back to sharing artwork!

Ciaran, I did ask, and I'm glad you shared!
I can't really talk about the introverted side of things, but I can sympathize even if I can't empathize. I can understand not trusting people and being worried about people stealing your art. One of these days I'll get around to making a logo to put on my pictures, but since I don't sell them in a little less worried. As long as people don't claim it as their own work in slightly ok with them being shared.
I'm not sharing anymore pictures personally, though I have several others I'm proud of. I encourage other artists to do so though!
