I don't know about everyone else, but I have my social media pages and my workplace where I like to post some of my art work for everyone to see. This year, I decided to keep up with the holidays this year and post pictures in accordance with them. This month is obviously the month of love (at least here in the US) and it's for history of African Americans. So, I'm looking for inspiration and I've got a couple of plans for what I'd like to try and do. However, I just wanted to see what other people had plans on doing, if anything.

Well let me just put this out here:

As a black man, PLEASE don't sully black history month with porn scenes. We got it bad enough trying to get folks to know our full contributions to this country without that type of foolishness.

Please just mess with cupid... I'm sure he'll understand. I'm not ready for Harriet Tubman doing a "train" inspired by the "Underground Railroad".

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for your thoughts. Allow me to also put something out there.

I too am African American, and I can definitely understand the troubles that African Americans face daily in this country. It's not fun, it's not fair and racism doesn't solve anything. And I can assure you that I'm aware of how much we as a race have contributed to this nations' success with no thanks. Allow me to clearly state - I had no intention of making pornography in relation to Black History month. To make pornography of such an important month of the year that African Americans' have fought so hard for would be lousy and make me look like the substandard citizen that so many racist claim us to be.

Allow me to also put out there that your assumption that I would make pornography of it is insulting. While you could claim that it's easy to assume that it would be porn based on the site we're on, I think we're all old enough to know that assuming makes an ignorant dolt out of all parties involved. Not every piece of artwork on this site is pornographic or sexualized. With that line of thinking, you could assume that the citizens in the poverish areas must be criminals based on where they live. You could have very easily asked what I had plans on doing with my art and I would have told you. That way, you'd have a leg to stand on when making your "statement" because you'd have proof that I was making porn. But instead, you assumed the lesser of the two possibilities of me, without even knowing my race to know that I'm also African American. That's the same level of assumption when people lock their cars nine times when we walk by because they assume the worst of us. The same level of assumption when security guards follow us in the stores because they just know that we're going to steal something. The very same level of assumption that police officers use when they shoot African Americans in the back because "I thought he had a weapon."  You just hit me with same level of assumption as the very people who contribute to the very issue that you mentioned.

I don't know you and you don't know me, so I don't know what led you to make the statement in the way that you did. But what I do know, is that my artwrok for Black History month has nothing to do with porn. I mentioned it here because I felt like sharing my artwork with other likeminded adults who could appreciate the value in hard work and in controversial topics.

With that in mind, just as you've made a request of me, allow me to make a request of you - Please consider what you're saying and who you're saying it to. Other people might take the assumptions that were made about them to heart, and that wouldn't be good for any community whether it be online or in real life. That's not how we want to build our world for the future.

Thanks in advanced.

Hmmm...

I wouldn't mind a parody of Claudette Colvin sticking it to Rosa Parks called "Ur in my spot" or a Thomas Sowell ramming money down Al Sharptongues throat titled "Dietary greens". Or how about one called "I wish", where a drove of people of all colors and backgrounds surrounds a tree having people dangling like Louis Farrakhan, Talcum X, Margaret Sanger and all the others who try and play us, whilst singing "At last"?

On the race topic:

Black history month, eh? I'm with Morgan Freeman on that one. It's insulting. Like singling out black history is going to cause anything else but wallowing in self-pity and cement hatred into stone.
Teach it as part of the curriculum. Black history is American history. Right now kids are being taught but a fraction of what slavery was like. Only concentrating on the lowest of the low in the fields. If you are lucky you learn about the dockers, the carpenters,...you know the "bright ones" that could function as a role model, showing that there is a tradition in trades. Usually though, you are being taught a distorted vision of the past, tailored to fit the left's narrative, causing anger and leaving black folk without historical idols. They don't teach you about the role of the Democrats in almost every policy and historical event that was to the detriment of blacks (Black wall street, Jim Crow, KKK, social benefits being geared towards kicking the male out of the home being more lucrative, three strikes,.....). On the contrary: They are now calling for Abe Lincoln to be canceled...you know that pesky, white beanstalk that fought a war to free the slaves.  And of course least of the children learn that some of the first slave owners were black (i.e. Anthony Johnson). Our leaders rather think it to be a good idea to lower proficiency standards so kids can hardly read or write let alone use math, flooding society with people that will experience failure, therefore creating more despair which offers more breeding ground for hate and racism.

God dammit what are the Jews supposed to do, they don't have a month? 4000 years of rape, torture, extortion and, as cherry on top, death-plants to wipe them out. Yet we didn't and don't see them running around torching cities, threatening people with violence, killing police, calling theft reparations, ironically hurting their communities in the process.

Both left (Obama's term) and right have conducted studies on what determines a child's future. And the results were the same. Fatherless upbringing and cherishing / internalization of ghetto culture makes it five times more likely to end up in poverty, regardless of race. Older studies in Germany amongst GI bastards found that there is no difference in intelligence between black and white children, contrary to then American studies which suggested race being the factor, as long as they grow up with the same cultural background.

We are living in a time where we are told to ignore history and our laws in order to appease a radical minority that is not interested in the truth and coming together. They cloak their bad deeds in good intentions (CRT: like teaching kids that one is less / or bad because of the color of their skin is a good idea...), distort your vision and lead you astray. But I'm sure y'all head the words of Booker T. Washington, huh?

Why aren't we holding the Mexicans accountable for what their ancestors did to millions when they called themselves Aztecs? Why not the Arabs for raping, murdering,  pillaging and converting large parts of Africa and India by the sword, killing millions in the process? Why not hold the descendants of the moors accountable for enslaving millions of southern Europeans long before an African was ever traded to the Americas? And while we are at it: What punishment should be dished out to the Mongols for their murderous role in history?

What about the fact that the slave hunt and trade was firmly in the hands of Africans and most of the ones enslaved were involved in this business in the first place, since most tribes dealt in slavery? What about the fact that to this day Africans and Muslims trade humans as property (there are some gruesome documentaries on that)?

So you see, solely pointing a finger at the white man for his history whilst ignoring ones own is ridiculous. Stop living in the past or at least stop listening to the race hustlers and start "hittin' them books".

(Check out i.e. "The veiled genocide" by Tidiane N'Diaye if you want to learn more)

Addendum:

"If we were held accountable for our ancestors deeds we would all hang."

I just didn't want to see black history-themed porn. baaa

Let's not take this to another level and make it political, please.

And just because Claudette wasn't recognized does NOT take away from the treatment black people have faced for hundreds of years. So please focus on that the next time this topic sets you off.

Thanks.

Edit.... do you actually think that there was only one Trayvon Martin, Michael brown or George Floyd? bitelip

On the topic of pornographic parodies of real people, it's not my cup of tea. To be fair, I find a lot of things funny that range from dark humor, race jokes, jokes about politics and everything else that might be in between. However, it's not normally in my nature to make porno parodies of real people, it's just not appealing to me. Normally when you're making porn, you'd make it of people/characters that you find attractive. I don't find many humans attractive, so therefore I wouldn't make porn of them. But if you're inclined to make it or someone else is, go for it! Life is too short to hold back on things like that.

The reason for my response earlier, in case you were wondering, is as such - When people say something that they shouldn't in a way that's for lack of a better term, short sighted, I just can't help myself but to point it out to them. Like I said, if he wanted to make the assumption that the did, there was a smarter way of having done it. However, now that we're talking facts and getting to the good stuff, I'm enjoying myself. But I digress.

On to more depressing thoughts -

I can see where you're coming from as well as where Morgan Freeman is coming from, if you're looking at it from that angle. And I agree that Black history is a part of normal history, although, it's not taught that way in schools and you've concurred with that point based on what you've said. I agree, there's so much more to Black History that should be taught in schools and it should be taught in full detail. Not sugar coated to make one side look like the victim and the other the aggressor or to make it seem like it wasn't that bad or to the extent that it was worse than what it was. It should be purely the facts. Nothing more, nothing less.

I personally do not see Black History month as a time to wallow in self pity about the struggles that my ancestors faced. If other people see Black History month as a time to do that, that's on them and they can have fun with it. Long as they're not bothering me, I couldn't be bothered to give a damn. Again, life is too short to be sweating the small shit.

My reasoning is that I personally didn't go through that. I wasn't the one being bitten by dogs when protesting, nor was I the one who refused to move from the bus seat. I didn't go through any of that, so I don't feel that it's right for me to pretend like I know what that's like, I don't. But, I do understand the systematic racism that's been put into place in this country. I do understand that African Americans (among other minorities but more so than them) continue to face adversity and hardships, etc etc. I like to think of Black History month in the same way that we look at, I don't know, Memorial Day or Presidents' Day? As a month to honor all of those who suffered and fought in the past to make my existence as smooth as it is now. Do I think it deserves an entire month? Ehhhhh, that's debatable, but that's another conversation.

"Well shouldn't you be doing that all the time?"

Sure, you could say that about every other holiday as well. Why relegate motherly and fatherly love to two days out of the year? You should love them all the way around. Why only remember our fallen soldiers on one day when they are actively protecting us? Why only celebrate the birth of Jesus on one day? Why only give out gifts on one day? I'm digressing, I know. I'll stop now.

The point is that you're right, Black History month shouldn't be something that's relegated to just one month, but for the moment, it seems to be the only way that the general public will listen and actually learn about how African Americans' raised this country. That's on both sides of the playing field. A lot of people get this misconception that only Caucasians are to blame for the current position of African Americans' and that's just not true. We have just as big a role to play in it as everyone else does. I could, no lie, probably write an entire book about why African Americans' are their worst enemy when it comes to advancing in a nation that was built around keeping us down.

But in the name of progressive thinking, I don't think that living in the past is the way to go either. We should learn, live, laugh and move on.

This point is being made for all people of all races from all walks of life, but for the sake of debate, I'm mainly talking about African Americans

Learn - Yes, understand that African Americans' did and still do have it hard in this country for a lot of reasons that aren't their own doing, but there are a lot of them who contribute to the very problem that they complain about. Why not get off the street and stop selling drugs and go get 2 jobs and start paying your bills on time instead of blaming the white man for making bills cost so much? You can thank your government for that one, and it doesn't have anything to do with what color they are. Why sit on the corner of every MLK street in the nation and litter it with trash, spray paint the streets and cause a fuss? If you want to spray paint so bad, go get some art supplies and do it at home! You're proving every racist right about who and what you are, but no one wants to talk about that part. You think that all the whites have it easier? Then go research and find out if that's true and go be a part of the change you want to see. Not a damn thing is going to change if you're just sitting on your butt complaining about it. If you don't want to be a part of the solution, stop complaining cause you're a part of the problem.

Live - Stop pretending that the ghetto life is the only way to go. There's more to life than basket ball, football, baby mamas and rap music. You (the African American youth and adults) have to live in the now and take control of your life! Who cares that you didn't have a dad and that you grew up in the ghetto? You think that stopped MLK or Malcom X from chasing the dreams they were after cause it sure as hell didn't. They had it so much harder and they fought for what they believed in anyway!!! Every other race has some of the exact same issues as us, but they choose to do better. Why can't we?! I had an abusive father who left us with nothing, who told me that I couldn't be in IT or be an artist cause "That's not what Black people do, but I said fuck him and moved on with my life and still did the things that I loved.

Laugh and Move on - When you reach a point in life where you can laugh about your past problems, that's when you know you've moved on from being hateful and you're progressive. You're moving forward in a direction of acceptance. Sure it happened, but it's over now. Let it go and get on with your life. As humans, we don't normally live on past 120 years or so, most of us don't make it that far. Do you really want to spend what little life cycle you might have moaning and groaning about what happened or do you want to just be happy and call it a day? Cause if you ask me, I'm just gonna move the fuck on.

And while this is a great way to look at things, this little perspective of mine that I've laid out, we're humans. What more can I say? We as a species have proved that time and time again, we're just not capable of putting our difference aside and working together for the greater good of humanity unless it benefits ourselves individually.

Again, I don't see Black History month as a time to punish the whites of today for what the whites of the past have done. I don't think it's appropriate for any race to do that, but I'm just one solitary African American woman who wanted to make some 3D art to commemorate my ancestors and those who fought beside them (I also enjoy a solid debate so there's that point). I haven't the patience, the time or the money to deal with what other countries currently do now or what they did in the past. Humans will be humans, I frankly don't trust any of them nor do I often care enough to look into it. I've got enough on my own personal plate to deal with, no need to add more to it.

In other not so depressing news, I just finished my second Valentines Day render and it's looking spot on! I think it'll do well for my social media pages, but I'm also submitting this to my workplace, so all my coworkers will see it as well.

WOW. ...

Claudette herself said that they didn't take her because she didn't have the right shade....recognized...LOL

Again, what are the Jews supposed to do. The shit they had to go through makes slavery look like little league. They had been slaves to the white man (Babylon...) way before the black man was ever taken out of the savanna, yet we don't see them causing havoc.

Screw George Floyd. Just weeks before he found his demise he put a loaded gun to a pregnant woman's belly and robbed her at gunpoint. No, the drugged up thug should not have died but rotted in a cell underneath the prison. Michael Brown...the guy who stole from a shop and didn't want to cooperate? And then there is Trayvon,....shot by a Latino..., but I admit I didn't read up further on the Martin case..

I didn't hear you say one word about black on black crime, which is a problem much larger then police brutality. You have heard of Atlanta, Chicago, Detroit, yes?

On top, ur ideological talking points have already been debunked during the Obama era. White cops are less likely to use deadly force when dealing with poc's. Look I could flood you with pdf's and web-sources. But I'm not going to rewrite my dissertation.

This is purely political theater to keep you nodding. As a general rule in politics:
When you home in on one thing you are likely to think what your opponent wants you to. It's always bad when people die before their time, but cases like Floyd's and Brown's are not representative of what is going on, nor should these criminals get any attention. They are used to mask the deleterious incompetence of politicians, be it local or federal. It gives you an enemy, a focus, therefore structure/meaning. And so, like many you swim with the current, which is natural since we are herding animals, getting hammered with outrages news every day, so you forget about the 16 black teenagers in Chicago that got shot by gangs the other week. Icing on the cake: The parents of kids who got shot by stray bullets have to put up their own money in order to bring the perps to justice because "progressive" DAs refuse to prosecute, let alone the fact that the hype around a criminal in the media steals any attention that the little shits should have received rather than a man that endangered the life of an unborn child.

What we should be focusing on is how do we reverse the effect of democratic policies, that still hurt the black community.

"Read lots, trust nothing, look up the source."

Maybe have kids playing with a super soaker. That was by a black inventor. confused

Also I want to point out that this topic talked about having Black History month renders, then the OP comes back and says maybe there shouldn't be a Black History Month.

You can always tell the difference between someone who doesn't have any viable argument but wants to be important in a conversation vs someone who take the points made and makes a solid counter argument in a debate.

But! Plasticz, I kind of like that idea. What I originally had in mind was a line of black men and women standing in a line with like fading lights overhead to show the countless black men and women and what they've done thus far. Whether that be black doctors, actors, military, etc. And have some inspirational quote about how we can embrace the hatred that was bred into us or how we can take a hold of our futures and make a difference, but I like your line of thinking too. I'm gonna look into it.

Well it would incorporate both topics... but I'm looking forward to seeing the end-result of your renders either way

What debate did you have? Was it supposed to be a debate? I don't recall being part of a debate. I thought it was supposed be about renders. You aren't who you said you are in the post and I'm not engaging in a post where folks aren't forthcoming and being truthful.

Enjoy your post where you two are speaking to yourselves.

Again... moving on. baaa

Just a word of caution for this thread. I've been watching it and have not had to step in as yet. Be cautious, read the Community Polocies to ensure you don't set yourself up for a suspension. Discourse is fine, keep it civil, do not harass, intimidate or use hateful speech.
Renderotica is a community of artists. Just remember that everyone here is just trying to make art and get it out into the world.

This... was not what I was expecting after a few days offline. I'm going to add in some of my thoughts, if that's all right.

I'm a white guy with a black family. My life has not been easy, but it has never been harder simply because of the color of my skin. That is the definition of white privilege. Black history should be taught year round - yes - but it's frequently not. Whether people believe it's because teachers feel like they only should teach it during the month or because of systematic racism (I'm of the latter belief) ignores the point. It is not being taught. Having time put aside to honor the achievements and history of African Americans is not a bad thing - especially when the achievements of white people are honored every day, taught every day, discussed every day. Yes, even during February.

In my artwork on here I try to keep racism away from the picture as much as possible. That can be extremely hard, as my art is 85% rape fantasy and torture. It can be very difficult to make do those to black, asian, or latina characters without people assuming. It's one of the reasons I go out of my way in my stories to portray it otherwise. In fact, there are several pictures I'll never post because the end result came off racist. In my art there is no place for it.

Now I'd like to wish everyone a happy Valentine's day and a prideful black history month.

Valentines Day maybe, but its already too close to push out any real high quality renders.
Black History Month no. I won't acknowledge it. Truthfully you probably don't want me to acknowledge it.
People should just be people, History should just be History, Americans should just be Americans.
The more any group fights to be seen as different, the less they should be surprised when they are seen as different.
No one should be prideful or regretful for things they didn't do.
Anyway, bigger fishes in the fryer at the moment.

In a perfect would, this would work... but that's not how any of that works. If not all history is celebrated then coupled with comments from people either accepting the status quo or thinks saying "we should be like this" is the equivalent of actually doing something to ensure that happens... then nothing gets done.

So that's kind of why things like black history month exists. Because folks are talking, but not actually doing the work.

Just saying.
