In case you're wondering: yes, it's Saturday evening and I had a drink which may have lowered some of my thresholds but even if it did I still think this should be shared every once in a while.
I'd like to share my deepest admiration for the Renderotica website, and its awesome community!
Sure, I realize all too well that it's also a shop and people are hoping to sell stuff and make some bucks. I get it. But you cannot deny the fact that even a talented guy or girl can come here, open a free account and start sharing stuff "just like that" as well, thus also giving them some extra exposure and maybe some interesting opportunities.
And honestly you guys... there are some seriously talented people roaming this place. I'm not going to mention names because this is addressed to all of you and I don't want to play favorites. But it's true. I grabbed some female figures from this place (some bought, and some were even free!) and yeah... peculiar isn't it that their private parts are there. See, if you're using Daz Studio and go to the source you'll soon find out that having private parts on your characters (either male or female) isn't all that common.
Now, I consider myself super duper fortunate because I had a chance to pick up on ZBrush; 3D sculpting / editor software which can do some pretty nifty things. Like, for example, moving clothes out of the way thus making some poses / renders even more sexier. Think about buying into a bikini top and then wanting to have your figure pull one side away a bit in order to reveal her b00bie. So about that... over here I buy a cool sexy outfit and often (not always!) such a "morph" is already part of the package. Move the slider and out come the naughty bits ;) Gotta love it!
So yah... here's to you awesome Renderotica community!

Not sure why this "AWESOME place" prevents me from modestly promoting my 3d erotic game here in my sig. If this "AWESOME place" would have been more friendly towards 3d game developers, this forum might have more traffic than the almost ghost town it currently is. What damage would be caused if, god forbid, it had an adult game section? As a 3d porn game developer, it should have been a natural place for me to spend some time in but currently I don't feel welcome here.

Apart from the somewhat cliched (but still true) comment: "Their house, their rules" I can come up with plenty of reasons. First... pretty much all communities I'm a member of do not condone advertising, period.
Second... it's easily explained why: professional communities like these operate in the fair basis that the rules should apply to everyone. If you can advertise, then so can I. Apart from the obvious risk of opening up the floodgates there's another problem to address: are our next posts on the forum really meant to contribute, or only to expose our own advertising as much as possible?
There's a very easy way to protect the integrity of the community and that's to simply deny this for all members.
Want to advertise for a commercial product? How about contacting the site owner and ask them if it's possible and how much that's going to cost you?

This place is awesome when it's used the way it's supposed to be used. If you're trying to push your product that isn't sold here through this forum, you deserve to get your peepee slapped.
I love the camaraderie that we have as a group. We help each other, support each other, and buy each other's products, as long as they're sold here. After all, 'rotica is a for-profit business, and it does not serve their end goals to have someone advertising in the forums for something that isn't sold in this store. I totally get that, and everyone else should, too.

I have never been on a site that's run by a small group of peeps and maintained by the creators and the members SO FREAKING WELL. FB, with as many billions as they make and all their "algorithms" and that place is still just as awful as it was before it blew up.
ZenMaster, I share your sentiments 100%. As a fairly new artist, I can say that it's super scary to come to a site where you buy things and give your honest opinion on things, where you post your artwork that you're so proud of for the viewing of other. But the beautiful part is when it DOESN'T get torn to shreds by mean comments or people who just don't have anything better to say. You get constructive feedback and pats on the back for trying. If that's not one of the best feelings when coming into a new environment, I don't know what is. And it's not to say that it's perfect all the way around, nothing is "perfect" by definition, but that's the good part about it - this site doesn't boast to be the best. I've yet to meet a single troll or immature artist or crumbly moderator the way I have on FB or YT or Insta or any other platform where you can speak to people. (I don't anticipate that I will). Everyone acts like adults and is mature about the content on the site and the rules that govern it. It's super refreshing to have these kinds of interactions with people in a world that's full of broken rules, Karens, and disappointment all over the place. I forgot what it felt like to talk to kind/friendly people that can relate to a similar hobby till I got here.
That being said, if something here on the site doesn't fit what you need in terms of posting/advertising/content or what have you, it should be up to the user to find a site where they can fit in better. I'm certain that a quick Google search will produce results on places that are more suitable for what you're trying to do.

While I can get behind and appreciate the mods banning spamming of ads for people's porn sites and other things, the one thing I don't get as it falls under "users helping users" is when someone is trying to find a product for their comic or render that Renderotica does not sell and people share a link to that item on a different site, the link comes down.
No one is taking a sale away from Renderotica, and I've seen many times on the Daz board where users have point people to Renderotica for Dicktator or New Gens for Victoria 8, etc. I would understand if we were saying to the user "don't buy it at Renderotica, but it at Renderosity", but in Renderotica doesn't have it, what harm does it do to help the user out and find what they're looking for?

We do not pull down ALL external links. In fact, there are many Daz links that have not been removed. The rule is no pay site links. If the link is deemed to be purely informational, then it is generally left but that is left solely up to the discretion of the moderator who sees the link. If you really want to share some information with another user and it's an external link, then send them a PM and exchange email addresses, since the link is often automatically deleted in PMs as well if it's in the list of banned words. In a PM, you can "help" another artist out without advertising that other site to the entire community. The point is to reduce risk to the artist vendors who have chosen to sell their products here. If there is a product that you feel should be here and you know of a vendor that may be able to create something like it, then send them a PM and suggest it so that they can sell it here. We have some amazing artists here. Just because we don't currently sell something doesn't mean that one of our artists couldn't create something like it. RangerRabbit Renderotica Management

I'm going to have to agree with Matt, Ebonix, and ZenMaster. This community may not be as active on the message boards as Daz or Renderocity, but I we are a respectful bunch. The mods and administration work hard as well, juggling all the various pieces of this site while remaining highly approachable. They also keep the site legal and safe. It's well within their rights to negate outside advertisements. If you want to sell your products on here talk to the admins, don't belittle them for not letting you link to another page.
One of the reasons I like this site is that everyone actually cares. From the comic and asset creators, to content and artwork makers, to people on the boards. People are proud of what they put here. They're also all willing to respond to questions and comments. I can't tell you the number of times I've bought something on Daz that didn't work right or couldn't figure out only to get a response weeks later, if at all. I've never waited for longer then a day with anyone here. It's normally faster than that.
I think people are nicer here for much the same reason that Pornhub comments are nicer than YouTube. We've all just gotten our rocks off and the endorphins are running rampant!

I dunno... I got threatened with being banned when someone asked why there weren't any more poses for Gen 3 characters. I made a suggestion of a site where they could get a free pose converter, that actually works better and easier than many of the ones being sold at Daz (also none of which are sold here) so that they would be able to buy more things from this site and in turn I got a good talking to. Kinda turned me off from coming here, and I only drop by now every month or so. All I've ever done here is try to help people get the most out of their stuff and find workarounds for non-existing things. Basically, I would go out of my way to help people here and got the whole "No good deed goes unpunished" treatment, especially considering that what I was suggesting would have not cost this site nothing, but in fact, would have made more revenue for the site and the artists. So, I took that as an example that I and my help wasn't required or wanted, and it drove me away. That's not exactly awesome.

Well, having known the place years back when there actually was a vivid and busy forum community, I'll just stick to my beer. Creating SFW and NSFW 3D images. Guaranteed natural and AI-free.

I think it's great to have somewhere to seek advice, share opinions, display creations you are proud of and get feedback and while it may seem disappointing at times that you can't post links to maybe helpful stuff at least the posts here are genuine and not just a flood of drivel only trying to sell something. I'm just here by mistake, for a friend, for science... anyway you can't prove nuffin'.
