I get it, I really do, but this is getting to be a real pain in the ass!  I am Southern, Georgian to be exact, and my family on both sides have been in the south, Georgia in particular since Georgia was founded.  I am proud of my heritage and history.  BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN AUTOMATICALLY THAT I AM A RACIST!!.  Both my father and mother, should have been considering the time when they were born and grew up and that nearly everyone else in the families are, but they were not racist and brought me and my brother up not to be either.  The local Klan leader once told my Mom that she was seeing the wrong kind of people as friends, (Black) and Mom told the idiot that she liked the idea of a burning cross in our yard, since it had been a while since we had a wienie roast.  Then she told him the first one of sheet wearing fools that stepped into our yard, she would drop with a round between the eyes.  Mom was widely considered the best shot in the area.  She could split a playing card with one shot.

Anyway, just because I am southerner doesn't not mean that I am racist!  I am really tired of people assuming that I am because of where I was born.  Yes, in the past before the War, my family had slaves, again that doesn't make me a racist and I think it stupid to hold something that happened over 150 years ago against me!  The past doesn't make me who I am, but the past helps shape my character.  I learned all the positive things of my heritage, such as politeness, cursory and respect.  I did not learn any of the negatives!

You're white and you live in Georgia and so some people automatically believe you're a racist? Well, now you know how it feels to be subjected to blind, unthinking prejudice. And (what a surprise) you don't like it at all. In fact, you're trying to do something about it. Good for you.

I'm mostly Irish to the point where school made me take speech therapy to suppress my accent lest I be like "Groundskeeper Willie" no matter my education.  Yes, I know he's Scottish.

And while others get to bray "Haalp us!  Haaattteeee Speeeeech!" over say an "African Cannibal" in an old movie or other slight stereotype still see in mass media cartoonish depictions of drunken, violent Irish blamed for their own problems and of course Leuprecauns ...  The real ones would shove a stick of dynamite in your back pocket vs a soft firework if any of the legends are true, btw.

But tell it to a "Politically Correct" crowd who'd cancel you or plain curb-stomp you if you used the N- word or talked about "The evil Jews" would still go "Hahaha!  Go cry in yer GREEN BEER, Paddy!" over any talk of oppression, prejudice etc. against Irish.  No call to "Cancel" that guy on the cereal box with the lucky charms and if there was it'd be met with open mockery.  Austin Powers was kind of a warning there...

AND I've had people shout out of the blue "Check yer WHITE priveledge!" and drunk on "Woke" young black people acting in ways that would have got them lynched but a few decades ago.  Women turned into toxic harpies who'll die alone and treating today's mostly softer, kinder men in a way maybe the worst stereotype of brutal 50s men might have deserved...

I've always seen modern Political Correctness as absurdity - but IMO the modern "Social Justice" or "Woke"...

I call them "Hipsters of Hate" and consider them totally Nihilists and nothing to do with legit Progressives, Beatniks, Hippies - just taking said ideals to the insane extreme so it becomes Pol-Pot or Taliban level Nihilism with a facade of hyper leftness. And I'm sure it's set up to destroy the real progress made by the earlier groups, to make racism and sexism fashionable again.
