I just really really screwed up! Somehow, I managed to totally screwup all my DS files!  I can't find anything!  I was trying to install a bunch of stuff and somehow in the process, I basically deleted everything.  I am not sure how I did it but I did.  This brings back some nightmares from working with poser, years ago.  I did the same thing several times, before I finally figured out what I was doing wrong.  Now it seems that I have to try to remember what I did then and not do it now!   Well, at least I get to clean my Daz folders up.....

Check your recycling bin, if they went in there you might be able to restore them.

Are you sure, you've deleted those files?
Can you find the files in your OS?
Has it just disappeared inside DS?
In your content window, there are little handles, that can be switched. Sometimes, they are hard to see, just click on them and see what happens.

Just incase it hasn't all been deleted. When I haven't a clue where I dropped my files or if I'm just trying to locate one, I'll do a search then I'll right click on that file and choose "get info" (this is on a mac, but I'm sure this works the same on windows) and you can then trace it back to the source.

Hope this makes sense. Hope this works.

whoops! Sometimes I am so stupid!! I forgot or got mixed up that I was moving DS from one of my back ups to the Main C drive of the computer, it was there all along. I was still trying to find it on the backup drive. I guess that I am really getting old!

Imagine having to redo your whole library, on purpose, knowing all the trouble ahead. That's me, right now... And considering the mess my DS library was, there was no choice :D No THAT is tough, believe me.

I have taken great pains to make sure my Main poser runtime never gets lost , as mentioned it is a royal pain to get everything back in place .. and everything has to be right or the path to the files will cause nothing but error message.

Glad you got everything set right Butch  .

I spoke too soon! Yeah, I found my files, but in the process of moving them back and forth, trying to get the max out of available disk space, I managed to corrupt most of my files. They are still where they should be but they don't want to load right, and even worse, Daz Studio is completely screwed up. All I got was basically a white screen with some words on it. The error message didn't make much sense either. So I bite the bullet and just deleted everything. It was the simplest way and the fastest way to correct the problem or should I say problems. One thing, this time I am going to make sure that I have everything in the right place, the first time!

This really does take me back to my poser days. It seemed like every six months or so, I had to do something similar when my Library files would get out of hand. Then it was easier to reconstruct everything since I had backups of my backups. At that time I have 5 external harddrives connect to my computer and had another 3 that I could switch out. On each drive I had a complete poser setup so all I had to do was copy the library files to the new poser directory....

I feel for you Butch.  Hopefully you can get everything straightened out.  I am trying to find all of my software discs right now to do a clean install including DS.  At lease I have all of my rotica and rendo downloaded files backed up on my mirrored array.  Will just have to redownload the files I want from Daz Studio and clean up a lot of old files including some old motherboard files that I can't seem to remove so I figure it is clean install time.
