Does anyone have any ideas? Seriously, what characters would you like to see in Poser? No, don't tell me. Let me guess. And is there any better evidence that Renderosity bought Poser without the faintest idea what to do with it in the future?

I think the whole Poser buyout was more about keeping Poser from dying off than anything. Now, Renderosity is trying to figure out how to revive interest in the program, mostly by trying to stuff even more content into it.

I'd like characters that aren't named Lafemme or L'homme. I mean why not pick normal names? Chad, Becky, Gunther, Stacey, see, it's easy. Pick two names and stick with them. After nearly 2 decades of branding, pretty much everyone in the hobby knows what company Vicky and Michael belong to, and they probably know Dawn and Dusk too. But Poser has new characters with each release. The figures themselves are ok, I just can't get excited about the names Lafemme and L'homme.

I know lots of people are pissed about having to switch to Windows 10 and quite a few are having issues with Iray and Nvidia in general. So having a native Linux version and an exporter to Blender would probably bring in quite a few users. Last time I tried, Poser wouldn't even work correctly in Wine. I've been using DS in Wine for about a month now and I'm pretty happy with it.

The biggest thing I could recommend is to copy Daz's business model - give away the program and focus on selling content, then use the profits to improve the program. Hell, they could even put it on Steam, then sell content as DLC. It'd piss a lot of people off, but that's how companies make money.

I wish the best for them, I bought the latest version, but I barely use it.

Mind, this might be an opportunity for Erogenesis and Project Evolution. Why not? They don't know what they're doing and he invariably does!

I'd bet my next paycheck that Ero would want nothing to do with that! He wants to make comics, not content. He's said as much.

They have an uphill battle on their hands. Frankly, DAZ Studio is going to be impossible to overtake because of the sheer volume of content (plus the base program is free!)

I also have the latest Poser and the pro versions of La Femme and L'Homme but I still haven't found time to try them out because every time I go back to Poser it takes me an hour to figure out the UI again. I still have a soft spot for Poser, and produced a huge amount of material with it, but I do feel that today it's fighting for relevance ... which is presumably why Renderosity are now asking for suggestions. As they are unlikely to embrace suggestions for "adult" products I'm not sure the answers that they get will help them move forward.

imho Poser needs a "Virtual DAZ Studio" mode which offers near 100% compatibility with DS content, but that's not going to happen.

That was my point exactly. What Poser content do you want? Genesis!

Poser's popularity has dropped a lot since and maybe because of Poser11. SM has just blown it and Rendo is clueless how to save it.
Right now, not only DAZ is leading, even Reallusion seems to be ahead of Poser.
On every occasion, I said, that we need better figures. No Toons, no to much characterized figures, but realistic and generic figures, that have natural joint bendings.
This might have the need to invest in new technologies. In my times over at Rendo, the Poser folks never saw this as important, sticking with V4.
As I always said, Poser folks want new stuff, without any change.
So I think the recent Poll is asking the wrong questions. LaFemme and LeHomme as Poser saviors are a ridiculous joke to me.
So it is not just SM or Bondware blown it, but also a majority of stubborn Poser users, unwilling to grow. Go to Rendo and compare the Poser with the DAZ Studio gallery.
The difference is obvious. Most Poser renders there still look like early 2000 render quality.
Bondware cannot expect the common user, to be an "Erogenesis", who pushed with all his amazing skills, Poser beyond its limits.

Again:
POSER NEEDS TO BE REINVENTED, OR IT IS GOING TO DIE.
This is a chance for Bondware:
Take it or leave it !!!

I told them in the suggestion section to own up all rights for past Poser products..  Smith Micro has allowed all it;s securuty certificates to expire all the up to Pro2014.   Now I do not mind clicking on a tab that say I am OK with not security certificate,  but Rosity owns the Poser brand now and should see to it that anyone who runs a different version of poser have a up to date security certificate

I will not buy the next version of poser and continue to use pro 2014

Attaboy! I've come to the same decision myself. What PP2014 does, it does fairly well, like an old aunt who makes a terrific chicken salad. And I've invested too much in Poser assets to simply put it on the shelf. As for Poser 11, it doesn't seem to offer anything more than what's already there. And, frankly, the DAZ Studio UI is a frustrating neighbourhood to live in; at least it is if you're accustomed to Poser. I'll play around with DS, but I'll render with PP2014. Which reminds me, times a-wasting.

I kinda feel like that. I've invested time learning the Poser interface. I just don't feel like starting all over again fresh.

"What Poser content do you want"

I wonder what could it be. lol

Seriously they lost me at "La Femme and L'Homme are beauty". They are not able to make Poser compatible with DAZ Studio, so just wait to recover the investment and let the poor thing die with some dignity already.

I'm pretty disgusted with Poser's direction.

A "new Figure" has been tried and failed X times by various sites/iterations.  AND the new version besides the "Superfly" which I don't use is going back to long waits looking through the menus - which poser had kicked a decade ago at least...

They need to improve figure creation/rigging (what got content creators to flee to DAZ) and then if they want to compete make an easy "Batch Render" option that won't work with DAZ.  There are things like Raspberri Pi's...Toy computers that run on Android, linux, even types of windows...but it's C and/or PYTHON based and said TOY computer is >= a pricey computer when Poser's core program matured.  SO - using a network and a simple program they should work out a 'batch render' so someone can get a dozen or so older Pi's and hook them through a cheap router and have a "Render Farm" - that way can turn on the slow torture long render bells and whistles but work on new scenes while a Nuclear render is going on regardless of Poser's current work.

Frankly, if Poser had some of the basic functions as Daz Studio seems to have, I would use it more (since the majority of the money I have spent over the years is still weighted towards Poser stuff).

Functions I am talking about are like: Clothing Auto Following the morphs of the figures used (as far as I know, the clothing has to have those morphs built in). I'm sure there are more ideas, but I just got off work and am too tired to think right now

Poser Pro 2014 does have a function that copies morphs from one figure to another. In fact, it works pretty well. As always: RTFM!

Ah, didn't know that.

That being said, I'm not willing to spend more just to pick up Poser Pro (unless they have marked it WAY down, have to check).  Poser 9 and some apps to transfer morphs to clothing (not perfectly, but good enough) works well enough for me (I've spent way too much money t just abandon Poser, but I have picked up yet other apps that allow me to use Victoria 3 and Victoria 4 clothing with Genesis 3 and 8, so I can use a good bit of my library with Daz  Studio now).

I'm thinking of doing the same. Would you be good enough to send me a pm if you're happy with the results? Thanks.

P.S. I think we'll all spent enough money on Poser.

Well the $$ I do spend over there are usually for any new Male textures for M4  amd hair products that could be used for both genders.

beyond that I buy mostly background sets and poses.

Not into the new characters since I use pro2014 even though I bought 11Pro..  If for some reason Pro 2014 gets corrupted I will have a backup,  But I am winding down on my Rendering time

All I can say is that Rendo at least got vendors to support the new figures  and in some small way that IS a good thing.  Yet with that said I am afraid they will offer very little in the next new version of poser..  I know they really did not have a hand in creating Poser 11  but the next version they will own lock stock and barrel and no one to fault but themselves if it fails to garnish sales
