Oh so very true! And it gets worse. I installed G2F & G2M and bought the respective head and body morph bundles (they were on sale). There is no clear indication if these are the morphs found in Shaping or in Parameters. The Parthenon Bank is in both Content Library and Smart Content, the Parthenon Club is in Smart Content only. Hair can appear in Hair or in Props. And the Scene Builder tab is a blankety-blank waste of time. Every asset installed in DAZ Studio is a scene builder! Dedicated DS users with larger than average runtimes are extremely patient people. Thank God there's Iray.

Why are pubic hairs either in anatomy, in hair or in props?

I'm a little scared to change the folders distribution.

Everything HDRI is almost unfoundable.especially since there's no windows preview option for HDR files
The shaders presets is an awfull mess mixing skin, metals, ground, cloth, wood, walls AND decals, layers, effects.

The most irritating thing is that when using smart content system, for instance to mix different trees or bushes, the program always goes back to the root directory instead of staying in "landscape/plants" folder.

Since there's no updated documentation, I don't know how to manage all this content architecture without destroying the whole thing.

You can move anything within the content directory in daz, I have set all my items within each characters folders, for instance all hair marked as lets say Genesis 8 sits within a folder that is marked Genesis 8, this is for male or female does not matter, then all the cloths, props and poses are within that G8 folder system. I move stuff around all the time. You just cannot move the Data, or Runtime files, that starts problems.

Thanks rbug02. I really should give that a try instead of griping so loudly. After all, a solution is obviously close to hand.

I have to disagree here.
I think DAZ studio's library is a lot easier to use than Poser's, for every Item has its materials and shaders in a sub folders.
Unlike Poser's system, where you have to scroll all along either the pose folder, or material folder until you finally find the right shaders.
Well, at least vendors are following the library conventions.

If you can find items in the content library, you can categorize them, Set up a category for your own particular needs and bob's your uncle. You can find it through the first column of Content Library.

Thanks,

I'm going to backup my whole Daz library and try to organize things as per my needs.

It's kind of ironic that my hobbies needs much more "new knowledge", than my regular job !!!

Does anyone knows of a piece of software able to preview HDR files within windows 10 simply ?

Not being at all a native English speaker, I'm not sure I do understand properly "bob's your uncle" !

I'll try to Google it.

Here in France we do have this kind of idiosyncratic expressions. For instance an American guy, from a cycling forum, asked how to translate "butt lube" in French. I'm absolutely certain that if you go to a cycling store here asking for butt lube, they will either think you're totally weird or give you an address for the nearest sexshop.

That said, vaseline is usable for many things !

It means that everything is going to run smoothly and that very little effort will be required to achieve success. North Americans would say "easy as pie."
Its origins have to do with the English system of apprenticeships during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries and a much respected prime minister Robert Peel, Bob.

It was an uncle's duty during those centuries to direct his nephew to an apprenticeship in a promising career. It might be something as humble as becoming a blacksmith or as prestigious as becoming a clerk in the Foreign Office with a view to eventually becoming a career diplomat. The nephew entered a contract with an experienced, even a licensed, professional in the given profession. The professional agreed to teach the nephew all that was necessary to become, likewise, a qualified professional.

Robert Peel enters the equation as a great prime minister whose solicitude for the poor and the humble was simply legendary. That the welfare of the English people was his first concern as a minister and as prime minister was everywhere considered as obvious as sunshine on a summer day.

So "Bob's your uncle" means that there is absolutely nothing to worry about. The most caring and attentive man in England concerns himself with your well-being and will connect you with an apprenticeship that will secure your future financial well-being.

Do not ask me why it was considered an uncle's responsibility and not the father's. I have no idea.

Incidentally, Robert Peel established the London Metropolitan Police, which is why to this day police in England are called Bobbies and, sometimes, Peelers.

I had heard the phrase "Bob's your Uncle" on British shows and knew what it meant, but had never heard the origin of the phrase.

No English prime minister earned a greater, more enduring encomium. He died in 1850 and "Bob's your uncle" has survived to this day in popular vernacular.

I was going to explain the idiom, but no need now! Yvesab's English is better than my (better than most Brits') French, so I hope he doesn't mind the use of such terms.
I would have assumed 'butt lube' to be for internal use, but it is clearly meant as a form of easer for cyclists.

Well after upgrading to new daz.... eeesh what a mess that has made anyone have any suggestions on how to fix the "A valid PostgreSQL could not be established" error. I tried everything to fix it including reinstall, checked firewall ok there checked network system everthing good there too and anti virus good as well?

Ok well fixed it finally now i am running 4.12.1.117 with all the new bells and whistles. How you may ask well because I still use a hot swap system I protected the main part of my program by simply removing it from the equation, and loading the new daz and then re-establishing the drive once all the work was done. yay

Log in to your DAZ3D account, navigate to your Product Library and filter for "postgresql." That should present you with the product you need.  Select it and then choose "DOWNLOAD" or "DOWNLOAD & INSTALL."

I hope this helps. DAZ3D is not bug-free, but give it a try.

People will need more details here, rbug02. It's difficult to tell where and how the problem occurs. And have you tried customer support at DAZ3D? Of course, I don't know why you should; tech support there has mud for brains, but asking can be good for a laugh.

Ok contedesfees I did open a ticket at daz, I now have 3 open tickets there and only one has been responded to. And the response thus far has been well lets say underwhelming, this is a new issue that I am having. So let me try to explain it a little better then. I have windows 10 latest updated build which is I don't know, I am currently running Daz version 4.12.0.86 I am attempting to load Daz version 4.12.1.117 that is the latest version from daz, it instead of putting the new version on just messed up my drive. Which is an external drive dedicated to daz and poser and Photoshop, which for some reason totally messed up the entire drive. The problem occurs just near the end of the install. Then it comes up with the error that, 1 I do not have access to that particular drive, which is totally bogus because I run this system as an admin, I have to run my computer that way because I used to work for a couple of FX shops in California. 2 I do everything manually I do not trust the DIM system at all. I tried that once and it bit my bum, that is another story. So not sure why this is happening.  Any help at this point is appreciated

May I ask how you do it ?

- directly in the Windows file directory or within the Daz Studio interface ?

- Is it allowed to create folders with "non-standard" Daz names, ie : "restraints, "pubic hair" and whatever censored word from Daz point of view ?

Thanks
