Wow... Just WOW.

What I really want to read now though is the reply you sent to that AND their reply (if any) after finding out their little back and forth went out to a customer.

Thanks, Teronsuke, for your understanding. I just realised that I hadn't exercised sufficient discretion and so I deleted the original post. I guess I was more mad than I thought.

so they think your a handful eh?

personally I cannot stand Poser 11 pro and when the word came out for the change in ownership, I stillhad my download manager for Smith Micro and installed Poser pro 2014 on my newest PC

it runs a tad slower as the PC is an 1-5 and ot an i-7 chipset not does it have the smae amount of ram.. but I want to make sure I backed up my poser OS.. I also have the new Poser pro 11.3 just in case something goes wrong, but I am not sure I will buy Pro 12. You know if you have the basics loaded Maybe the last SR update might solve your problem, did you save any of those?

No worries, I'm totally with you on the org post, totally unprofessional and even more uncalled for, takes just a moment to start a new email and copy / paste the relevant info back to you. Sure mistakes happen, but in this day and age... they really should know better.

I would say repost the deleted image, BUT blot out your email addresses and name (add "me", blot out the first staff email and put in "Senior Staff" and blot out the other staff email and put "tech" (not aware if that one is senior or not)

Also REALLY makes me wonder what's been said about me in my email chains with them over the years cute

Thanks Shadoman. Happily, I had upgraded to Poser 10 before I indulged myself with PP2014. So I was able to find all the content exe's this morning. Phew! But I can't get my hands on PP2014's Service Release 5. ACTUALLY!!! I'm seriously considering the switch to DAZ Studio. This unhappy exchange left a bad taste in my mouth. Michael and Victoria are almost as old as I am; I'm confident that all my Poser content will work in DS. And Genesis and Iray have a lot to offer. Granted, old dogs like me aren't entirely comfortable with new tricks. But it's really just a matter of taking the bull by its intimidating horns and sticking to it. And after all, I've no reason to buy another version of Poser; L'Homme and La Femme can't compete with G8M and G8F. DS here I come!

@Teronsuke: Solid idea. I did exactly that in another post to this forum. And I really do appreciate your understanding. You'd think they'd be a little more accommodating.

@rbug02 - I used my backup of the Poser Pro 2014 exe when I tried to re-install that program. That's when the problem began. It's not that I didn't have a backup; it's that the installation procedure, launched using my backup, didn't install all the Poser assets.

A handful? lol

How dare you sir, yes you, want...NAY!- demand!!! access to that which you paid for! How rude sir, how rude!

It's like, you paid for something, and now you want it.... How utterly plebeian!

Hope my satire doesn't offend, it is meant to be as mildly ridiculous as what they said in their emails, as well as forwarding it to you. I've never used Poser, but I do use Daz, it's nice, I do like it, but I've heard from some poser users that it has some features lacking that poser has, but I've also heard it the other way around. I'd say give it a download and try it out, the program itself is free along with just nearly enough content to get your feet wet. Install what you can that you already have from poser, I use a lot of poser stuff in daz, some of it "just works" but some of it takes a fair bit of messing with.

Good luck! In both you endeavors

I do not recall a SR5 if there was one I would have downloaded it and mind you just before the switch I used my download manager from SM and made sure I had all theupdates for pro 11 and 2014 pro

Yes, there was an SR5. I have the installers in my archive of every Poser installer that I have ever downloaded. The file is "Install_Poser_Pro_2014_Win_SR_5.exe" dated 23/10/2014.

You can never have too many backups - only too few.

@BrimstoneOmega - I do wonder if Rendo has the proper attitude to push Poser up the ladder. I believe they think it will sell itself. Just put it on the shelf and open the cash register.

And most generous tanks!!! I'll need all the help I can get. heh heh heh.

Yes you are correct There was a SR-5 but it can only be loaded via the installer and unlike older SAR version  you cannot save it to a certain file on your hard drive..  I matched the version with what is on my  about Poser start up page and they are the same.

from what I can see though is my smith micro installer app is still willing to re-stall version SR 5 if I need it

However SR-4 is on my hard disk

does anyone know if the Service releases are pre-coded to match the serial numbers in use or are they simply an un-coded open file that would adapt with anyones product of Poser pro 2014?   I know the download adapter requires you to se;ect the key codes to your version of Poser before it opens the files for download  but do product keys come into play for when SM allowed you to download from their aite prior to being sold to Renderosity

shadoman, you're a wonder. Your zeal to be helpful is truly appreciated. Can I suggest applying for a job in customer service at Renderosity? Naah, obviously you won't fit in. Much respect and appreciation!

Am not a big fan of their staff either..   I cannot fathom now what our discussion was about,  but it left a sour taste in my mouth and my cutting ties being a prime member and reducing my purchases to what I truly need and only when it is on sale or I have a coupon..  I think last year I spent more at Renderotica than I did at rosity..

but if that reply you got was sent to me,  Oh I think I might have been banned for my reply to them..

None the less,  they own the product old and new and should give you support and I am sure not buying pro 12 no matter how attractive they make it.

so I just stay with pro 2014 and if need be pro 11 as a last resort.

stay well and safe

@shadoman, @chaosophia - I am old and grey but I may not be grumpy. So many artists that I admire (with some notable exceptions) are using DAZ Studio and producing admirable renders that I think switching was overdue. And after all, Poser costs money, doesn't it? Why not wise up, get a comprehensive freebie, and spend my  money on usable assets that produce admirable renders? Have I got anything to lose? Tally-ho, tally-ho, tally-ho!

I'm too old and at times grumpy.

No matter the software  the need of better elements eventually means shelling out $$.

I admire what the higher base mesh offers in DAZ studio and yes they look awesome,  but for me, I find poser useful enough to keep using it,  plus my vast library collected over the years gets me by

Soon to be 71, unless this virus catches up to me, I have slowed down to a comfortable level or production  i manage to do about 6 comics a year and spread them over two sites  Here and a Transgender site

SO  poser is just right for me,

Stay well everybody

Not sure what you mean by that. I remember this as being an executable patch file that installs the changes needed to bring an existing Poser 2014 installation to SR5 level, but it's been some time since I had 2014 installed  on any machine. If I get some time I will install 2014 in a Virtual Machine and check that the patch installs OK - that's assuming it's still possible to activate now that the software is owned by Renderosity.

OK, that worked. I installed Poser Pro 2014 (10.0.3.26066) in a Windows 7 VM, activated it with my serial number, then ran the SR5 patch. (In between I had to install that damn Adobe AIR plugin for the Content Library, but that was also downloadable from inside Poser).

The reported version is now 10.0.5.28164

So that's helpful because (a) it means you can still activate the software and (b) the patch runs as a standalone so if you have it you can still get 2014 to the last Service Release.

Poser is right for me too! I really like it. A well-organized interface, extensive documentation, and a nice render engine. Combined with Octane (which is beyond my budget), Poser is a formidable CG tool. And tons of assets too. Michael 4 and Victoria 4.2, as old as they are, still have much to offer.

Nobody ever switched more sadly or more reluctantly. I truly have to force myself to learn DAZ Studio and, who knows, in six months time, I might change my mind. Poser is Dan Brown; DAZ Studio is Charles Dickens. Poser is Rocky; DAZ Studio is Citizen Kane. Poser is Chopsticks; DAZ Studio is Bartok. Need I say more? And that's just day one. I'll let you know when and if I come out the other side. What have I done?

Have a beautiful 71st.
