Does anybody here personally know of anybody that has the virus?  I'm just curious.  I don't know a single person who's been infected or know a friend of a friend of a friend who's got it.  Our town is on a "Stay at Home" order, but we can still go out and do essential stuff, as long as we keep 6' away from other people, don't gather in groups, etc.  Non-essential businesses that are indoors are closed, food places still cook food, but it has to be pick up or take out with some places also having limited menus.  Gyms are closed so I have to walk outside, but the weather has been shit and I don't do well in wind and snow, so Red Box is my new best friend along with potato chips.  I am proud to say that I am doing my part by working from home doing 3d modeling and making art.  Wait I minute, that's my life every day, lol.

The basics are all gone, toilet paper, hand sanitizer, staple foods like rice, box dinners, most meats are hard to come by, otherwise things seem normal. My town is doing pretty well with the social distancing other than people at the stores you just can't avoid.

My girlfriend works at a hospital doing housekeeping, so there is a little "ehhhhhh.... wash your hands good and if it goes in my mouth, it has to clean" mentality going on.

And how is your week?

I live more smaller town rural so there are less cases in surrounding areas so far, fingers crossed. I don't personally know anyone. Though i am not taking it lightly, at the grocery stores here a lot of people are not following the safe distance. Especially younger ones. Pretty frustrating walking down a narrow isle and someone walking straight at you with a "i dare you" look.

Well I live in the south of California, Less than 25 Minutes from the Mexican border if you catch my drift..

Not only do we have a decent Governor with a good head on his shoulders,  We have a pretty good Mayor for the City of San Diego

Stay home is in place and except for the Dentist Appointment I had yesterday, followed by a foodie run, we are set for the next 3-4 weeks

Store are getting restocked as they are placing limits on how many of a certain item you can buy.. I did find an 18 count Carton of eggs as they had just come in.. Bout only one as they seemed to have gotten maybe 100 containers. also got Milk and some frozen dinners as there seems to be a lot of that stuff at least they are good for lunches

Many of the stores  like Costco, Wall, Mart, Sam Club have senior hours starting from 8AM  must show ID and anyone 60+ gets in

Medical facilities are pushing back nom essential  DR appointments  and two of the meds I take cannot be refilled at this time.. One is a suppliment but I need a RX script and the other is a pain killer and the mildest non addition opiod on the market.

We ;live on a cul de sac so no one comes down the street unless they live here.  Neighbors are all fine and we pop out at dusk and have a small conversation and we keep our distance

as for entertainment.. what are you folks doing to keep from going stark raving mad???

I do some rendering, play some slots on line, and the wife does surveys for Amazon points  On the weekend they have Horse racing  tracks may be empty for horses have to exercise..

we also have a vast Movie collection of some 3000 DVDs and that does not include TV series like Buffy and Angel and there is always Prime Video and Netflix

so I think we have to keep from going bonkers.. as I think we are looking into early Autum to get some idea how hard we were hit from the Virus' that might have been contained better if they had just not been so secretive

Oopps time for dinner  tonights features are Fast and Furious 5 and 6  in Surround sound. .

Stay well and safe

Regards  Shado

Being retired on a government pension, this has had little effect on me. I'm a few minutes from town and still go for a long run every day. With the snow finally melting and the temps climbing, I got my bicycle out last week and have been enjoying the almost deserted roads. I'm expecting to get my vintage car out next week too; the price of gas is so low that I can once again afford to drive her the way she was meant to be driven.

I shop at a local cooperative and they have been limiting quantities since this started. It pissed people off, but the majority of sane folks understood the reasoning.

I've taken the opportunity to finally finish my 'Steampunk-Victorian' impaling machine and get it up for sale at Summoner's site. To this end I'm digging through the MDL (http://www.mdlhandbook.com/mdl_handbook/index.html#light_at_a_surface#light-at-a-surface ) to try and learn to make good Iray shaders. I need a proper organza material. The existing ones don't look very realistic in my opinion.

The only drawback for me is having my wife home all day. She's still getting paid as she's working from home, but I got to enjoy my time alone since retirement.

I'm also proud of Trudeau (I can't believe I just said that) for being calm, pleasant, and straight forward when faced with stupid and ignorant questions from asshole journalists.

Yes Retirement does have it's advantages..  But one does need to get out, Our Mayor has closed the local beaches as on a warm day,  thousand of people came to bathe in the sun and infect each other.. Our parks stay open as once can better perform social distancing. Personally I would not go to the local parks..

stay well and safe everyone and for those who can..  Happy Rendering

Being an independent IT guy, I am still legally allowed to go out for work if repairs are needed but so far I haven't had to do so, save for a pharmacy run (diabetes still means I need insulin).
I can't say that being confined has taken any toll on me; in fact, I couldn't care less, as I am very much a stay-at-home guy when nothing forces me to do otherwise. I live in a small and very
quiet countryside village and if I really need some air, we have a big garden. If anyone is having trouble lately with being stuck inside, it's our two cats: some asshole has been putting out a
nasty poison somewhere in the neighborhood and one of our pets already got a very close call. Even in case of a zombie apocalypse, evil never rests.

I live in a rural area also - so less affected though plenty of conspiratorial hotheads raving stuff.

Hiding indoors and working on projects.

My father lives in "The People's Republik of Glorious Kalifornia" and he thinks he's been exposed to the Virus but no symptoms yet.  It's certainly real.

Note we just had Juan Gimenez die of the virus...  Anyone who's read "Heavy Metal" or Jodorowkys's Metabaron works knows him...

The wife has diabetes and I need to run to the Pharmacy once a quarter to get her insuline .and her pain meds as she uses a controled substance.  Everything else is shipped to the house as is my VA scripts and CPAP gear..  Her HMO used to mail her insulin bit they would put a simple cold pack in the carton and if the stuff landed in the post office late Saturday,  then it stayed there an extra day and would arrive warm.. So now we go to the pharmacy for it and get it nice and chilled.  We pay a few dollars mor e but it's worth it.

Juan Gimenez   he was a gifted artist..  Over the last few months I have noticed Musical entertainers dying of the virus.. this is the first artist I heard about.

In Illinois there is widespread anxiety and everyone just goes for walks cause theres nothing else to do. In my line of work, 70% of my Company has been temporarily laid off and I am very lucky to still be working there but we took a 20% salary reduction right now and I am stressed to the point that is has affected my creativity creating fresh stories on here... My whole family is on edge

Personally this whole thing is great for me, so long as myself and people I care about don't get sick or die. I love staying home, reading books, watching blu-rays and doing general tomfoolery. That being said, let's hope it doesn't turn out like that Twilight Zone episode where Burgess Meredith breaks his glasses.

People are dying out there in droves, there is nothing "great" about it and that "as long as me and my own are ok, it's fine" is the straw that broke the camel's back.

I know of one person that I used to see when I went out drinking that died (and he was generally healthy, built and was a go-go dancer at huge rave parties) and friends and family that either have it or have been under quarantine. My facebook friends have been posting people that they know that have died as well.  Our company shifted to working remotely so I've been at home for the last few weeks. It's getting nasty out there and just because your area isn't hit hard yet doesn't mean it's not coming. It's moving towards the rural areas now, so you should definitely be washing hands and practice social distancing to keep down the effects. Since people are still coming and going and some areas don't have their containment/testing plans in place, it doesn't take much for the virus to be passed and get into your areas if you aren't protecting yourself now... if it isn't there are ready. We're already weeks past proper testing so just about anyone could have it while not showing systems then weeks down the line the cases will start showing up.

I live in one of the epicenters for this, NYC. It's changed some things and others not so much. Everyone in my company is working from home right now. So besides grocery runs every few days, I tend to stay inside. And when I do out, I go out at the crack dawn when less people are around. As an example, I just went grocery shopping at 7:15AM, and there was no one in the KeyFood by me. I wouldn't leave my house on a Saturday until 11AM if this wasn't going on. I also wear a face mask

Don't know anyone personally who has died from it (thank God), but we did have a person in my apartment building get diagnosed with it and we had to be notified of it. A few of my coworkers have family or friends who have come down with it. It's pretty nasty from what they say.

Just hope that everyone takes care of themselves and their loved ones. It's a pretty surreal time.

Seems like I hit a nerve. That wasn’t my intention. Am I a selfish asshole? Probably. But I’ve been up for a really long time and was trying to inject a little humor into a dire situation. Poor choice of words I guess.

I work for a government agency and am considered "essential services", so I still have to go to work every day. No one I know personally has actually caught this crap, but if the daily briefings we get are correct, loads of people within my agency nation-wide have been exposed or are suspected of being exposed and have been isolated as a precaution (including 2 people in my own office), and those of us who are still showing up to work each morning are getting more and more burnt out.

And yeah, the scary thing is the up to 2 weeks incubation period, during which carriers are thought to be contagious while not showing any symptoms. The roads and towns in my area aren't completely depopulated, but they're getting there, and more and more businesses are closing (temporarily, at least, and hopefully not for good). Went to the bank yesterday, and found that they had closed the lobby and are now doing transactions at the drive-thru window or ATM only.

Last fall, the next town over had cracked down on their growing homeless population, and cleaned out the parks, overpasses, shoulders, and other out-of-the-way areas. As a result, a huge homeless colony had been camped out on the sidewalks over two full blocks in the downtown area, to the point that the stores had to put armed security at the entrances and fencing along the sidewalks to keep them from getting right up next to the buildings. People and trash and pigeons everywhere -- a lovely little petri dish for a pathogen to take up residence. That's gone now (except for the all the trash, which they left behind). The city finally broke it up and got them all out of there. (No idea where they put them all, tho'.) Downtown businesses were dying already (largely due to things like Amazon and online ordering), this homeless incident was killing it even more, and now this viral crap may kill it off for good.

The one funny thing about all of this is that, in all of the end-of-the-world scenarios I've read about in books or watched in movies, survivors are always fighting over food, water, shelter, fuel, medicine, ammo, or breeding age females. Nobody ever considered that here in the real world, we'd actually be fighting over fucking toilet paper and sanitation wipes.

Unfortunately Stephen Kings version of Captain Trips is now a reality.  There will be survivors but if this is Gods Will, well I am not amused and this is not funny. Not putting down the poster who just had a poor choice of words..

In San Diego we are laying to rest a couple police officers and a Sheriffs Deputy  who must stay out on the lines I do not think in the long haul it will be as drastic as The Novel suggested and no one will take the side of Good Verses Evil, but this could be a pre-coursor to what Bio terrorism could look like.

Instead of hiding their numbers and censoring Doctors who knew weeks before it would break open, a country chose not to open it's channels of communications and admit this was far more nasty than the last bug they sent across the globe. Then you have global leaders who fail to shut their borders and quaranteen till it's too fucking late.. and stupid upon stupid.  Hold open Concerts, Football game etc..

As a state with the 2nd or 3rd highest level of cases,  I feel for those folks in NY You guys had a bomb dropped on you. Thn you have those who just had to cellebrate Maudi Gras  I  lay that blame solely on the Mayor of New Orleans for being a total cluster-fuck of a leader.

Yesterday I say footage of college kids not shelter in place bu out on spring berk, sitting side by side drinking beer and drinks, playing tug of war on the beach.. they just do not get it.  Maybe they will not carry it but the could be A-symptomatic and spread it to others Obviously Maudi Gras rate of Crovid-19 infections fell on deft ears and this is supposed to be the next generation of people who will graduate and enter our work.force. God help us

To your point, Shadoman and Protocol Zero, it's really the people that are doing nothing or acting like "it's nothing" that's doing the most damage.

It's infuriating that you see so many people not taking it seriously, going to parks and Mardi Gras and Spring Break with the mindset of "I'm fine!" and then they come down with it and then they were spreading it around for god knows how long and some poor old lady going to the drug store to get her meds no has Covid19 because some 20 year old needs to go drinking /smh

Also, big shout out to all the people having to work. Be you government employees, store workers, doctors, nurses, delivery people. You all are really the heroes during this.
