Where is the best place to sell your erotic comic? Does Renderotica get enough traffic to make a good amount on your comic? What are the steps to submit?

I’ve been looking for a place to sell my adult comic and looking for the best place to sell. I know you can sell here but what’s the traffic and sales like? Comixology lets you self publish and it gets tons of traffic but I’m not sure how they handle adult content.

Any help/thoughts would be great.

with al huge amount of comics in the renderotica store.  I have enough content to generate some extra income in my retirement,

Some stories do better than others but if you are looking to make mega bucks to pay the bills while you create more content, then it might take some time to get established. I never planned to make a living solely off my comics

Mind you when I first started posting comics here, there were maybe a half dozen comic artist at Renderotica..  Now we have so many comic artist and you will have to worry about the competition.  If you have a huge amount of comics to load into the store then that will help,  There will be those who are curious and buy, and if the content floats there boat, they will be back for more.

I always found that when I posted a new story, the issues would sell very good for the first 30 days and then it would slow down some. You have to determine how many sale constitutes a good month.   I always had my fan base that would buy everything I created, but with more comic artist it's hard to keep up and at my age I'm slowing down a bid and no longer have the stamina to render into the wee hours of the morning and bring forth a new comic every 4-6 weeks, I also found my work being too much the same from one comic to the next. So it gets harder to keep stories from seeming stale

Content is very important  Bondage, Dickgirls and fantasy creatures having sex are very popular as is large breasted females.  We have  Visual Picture only comics and Comics with some text and then Graphic Comics with a huge story line.  I have comics as short as 80 pages and a few mega comics that go 250 pages my average story size seems to be 100 to 140 pages

I'm sure I will not be the only comic artist to share with you but I will say that this place goes to bat for you, if your work is exclusive and found elsewhere, they will make an effort to issue DCMA's on your behalf,  but the key work again is Exclusive

As to myself,  I opt for payment Via PAY PAL and within a day or two, maybe three, I get a deposit into my account providing I am above the Minimum limit which I think is $30 otherwise it gets carried over till the next month.

All my Bondage content is exclusive to Renderotica, and I make sure I am included in all the major store wide sales

I for one am happy here and sorry if I ran off some

Food for thought

Regards  Shadoman

Thanks for the info Shadoman. I’ve been working on a horror comic that I’d like to get printed one day. But as I’m researching digital comics and what sells, erotic content seems to be the most popular. I’ve got some cool and unique ideas. Was thinking that may be the way to go.

Not looking to get rich. Just some extra $$ to pay to get my horror comic printed and buy more software and assets to fuel this hobby of mine.

Lot of great comics on here. I wasn’t sure if there was a big enough community here to sell but it sounds like it. I was looking into comixology but they won’t publish adult comics on their apps, just the browser store. I’ve already talked with some staffers here and they are very helpful.

Thanks again!

Shadowman, I am also retired and I have to thank you for getting me going on producing comics for this site.  I used to have problems with the long render times needed for producing a quality product but if you use Daz Studio and use a script called "Batch Render", it really helps with the work load as you can render several panels in one night.  Since I have started using this script I have gotten ahead of the curve a bit and because I only release one new comic a month, I am now about 5 comics ahead.

I also agree that the story lines do seem to repeat somewhat but recently I have added new twists to my stories and I think they are much better with the new ideas.

I also use "Comic Life" and for the most part I am happy with it except that I no longer use the boiler plate panels, I find that creating my own panels allows me to get more on the image in the panel.

I agree that you can not live off the comics you sell here but the extra money allows me to get new characters and scenes so just for that it is worth the effort.

Wait: Quote:" ... a new comic every 4-6 weeks..." ???

I thought every 4 to 6 months would be already quick.

My comic has 421 rendered pictures, including outtakes it would be about 500. I made 2 a day, which means setting up the scenes and rendering over night. That makes about 250 days.
Count another 50 days to it for photoshop the renders and putting it all together in Comic life.

It was always my Intension that what I made off the comics would support my hobby and for the most part it did,  I'm still using Poser and except for a few vendors here and at Renderosity  I hardly buy props any more so the $$ just gets stored into the PAY PAL account untill I need things,  But I have to say over the years I have made enough money to buy all the software I needed, and 3 custom built PC's

I think that what you are describing is more of a graphic novel and not a comic book.  When we were kids, I never bought a comic that was more than around 30-50 pages.  The requirement here is 50 pages for single panel pages or 35 for multi panel pages.  I've looked at some of the other vendor offerings and most are in the 70 - 200 page or so range.  Most of my comics fall into this range also.

I've never spent a thought on the amount of pages. since I am a very visual person, my main focus has always been the quality of the graphics.
If I don't like the graphic style or quality, then I won't buy it. (BTW:That's why I've never bought some of the Batman Frank Miller stuff. Can't stand the graphics.)
This hasn't changed with nowadays cgi comics.

As I have said I have slowed down quite a bit as of late  but I stand by 4-6 week quote.

I have heard the nightmares of long overnight renders and frankly I think the longest render I had to wait on was 4 hours and that was do to an light system and plenty of ray tracing elements.

I keep things as simple as I can and plan ahead. A scenic render or say a bedroom scene,  Doctors office or Hospital room do not get eliminated when I close a story, they get saves sao if I need a go to scene I can quickly bring it up and save some time by not building another set. Characters I keep certain characters in a special runtime.  never know when you might need a nurse, police officer, or some well dressed businessmen and Business women,  and some nice looking call girls..  Just bring them up and maybe change the hair or texture of the outfit and they are good to go.

I use Poser and my renders tend to be 150-300 dpi and exported in PNG format. Lately the sharpening tool in Comic life has added a nice crispness to my images.

For new characters I figure out what I will need from beginning to end,  Usually I have no more than 5 major characters per story. Each base figure starts out as a nude and saved to runtime,  Then the nude gets underware,  save to runtime, remove the underware and cover in street clothing or casual clothing  and save to runtime.  That takes about a day.

Bring in my backup figures place them on the desktop and then add them to the story library and I'm ready to go set up my sets. Usually one or two bedrooms and I already have those saved,  Interior.exterior house scenes if needed,  If a Bondage scene is called for I get something from my Davo runtime  In three days tops I am ready to begin and on a good day I can run 15-20 renders.  Remember the nice thing about 3D sets, is the ability to turn the set around for a different POV.

As to my runtime  I have a very unique runtime system that makes it fast to find things and Import things I need and export things I do not. I have runtime files devoted to Strictly Air Ports Interiors/Exteriors and Planes and Jets

Another runtime devoted to Arab themed scenes and characters. another runtime devoted to bedrooms and bedroom poses, and so on,  Having everything in one place saves time, Vendors I do a lot of business with have their on Runtimes Like Davo,  1-13, Stonemason's Poser items,

The V-4 Library took the longest to set up  But I have clothing character, hair characters, even the V-4 base set in alphabetical sub catagories.

Example  Hair A-F  G-M  and N-Z I do this for the character props, and texture props.  and also for smart props.   This is also done for clothing and shoes

My base textures I call Poser people I have a sub file for 19-21 and then list the other textures as A-F  G-M and N-Z

This system took me 3 weeks to amass and it has served me well and increased my productivity. Less scrolling because I know where everything is.

And yes it's backup and gets updated every month

My Hard drive that my Poser work sets on is having SMART issues, Going to swap out the drives and then reload by backup after I for mat the disk.

To the artist who do produce visual stories or superior quality work,  My hats are off to you because I have seen some of the new artist selling items in the store.  It's awesome..   I have a top notch PC loaded with ram, speed, and mid range cuda video cards.

My desk is like an assembly line with 3 PC's I does the rendering,  One does the Post work and the other has the comic software. So while i render I post work finished images in batches and then send to the the PC with the comic software I build the pages and then drop and drag my art into them. Once all the panels are done I go to work adding the text, but while that is going on I am rendering for my next story.

My wife does the editing as she has a AA in English Then I do a final run through and lastly create the PDF.

It works for me and I make sure it meets my own standards or I go back and rework any images that need it.. What can I say  I'm a virgo who turns 70 next week

Have a nice weeknd everyone

Sorry for the long post

Regards  Shado

I understand, but has been said elsewhere (David Niven?) it beats the alternative....
