As I have said I have slowed down quite a bit as of late but I stand by 4-6 week quote.
I have heard the nightmares of long overnight renders and frankly I think the longest render I had to wait on was 4 hours and that was do to an light system and plenty of ray tracing elements.
I keep things as simple as I can and plan ahead. A scenic render or say a bedroom scene, Doctors office or Hospital room do not get eliminated when I close a story, they get saves sao if I need a go to scene I can quickly bring it up and save some time by not building another set. Characters I keep certain characters in a special runtime. never know when you might need a nurse, police officer, or some well dressed businessmen and Business women, and some nice looking call girls.. Just bring them up and maybe change the hair or texture of the outfit and they are good to go.
I use Poser and my renders tend to be 150-300 dpi and exported in PNG format. Lately the sharpening tool in Comic life has added a nice crispness to my images.
For new characters I figure out what I will need from beginning to end, Usually I have no more than 5 major characters per story. Each base figure starts out as a nude and saved to runtime, Then the nude gets underware, save to runtime, remove the underware and cover in street clothing or casual clothing and save to runtime. That takes about a day.
Bring in my backup figures place them on the desktop and then add them to the story library and I'm ready to go set up my sets. Usually one or two bedrooms and I already have those saved, Interior.exterior house scenes if needed, If a Bondage scene is called for I get something from my Davo runtime In three days tops I am ready to begin and on a good day I can run 15-20 renders. Remember the nice thing about 3D sets, is the ability to turn the set around for a different POV.
As to my runtime I have a very unique runtime system that makes it fast to find things and Import things I need and export things I do not. I have runtime files devoted to Strictly Air Ports Interiors/Exteriors and Planes and Jets
Another runtime devoted to Arab themed scenes and characters. another runtime devoted to bedrooms and bedroom poses, and so on, Having everything in one place saves time, Vendors I do a lot of business with have their on Runtimes Like Davo, 1-13, Stonemason's Poser items,
The V-4 Library took the longest to set up But I have clothing character, hair characters, even the V-4 base set in alphabetical sub catagories.
Example Hair A-F G-M and N-Z I do this for the character props, and texture props. and also for smart props. This is also done for clothing and shoes
My base textures I call Poser people I have a sub file for 19-21 and then list the other textures as A-F G-M and N-Z
This system took me 3 weeks to amass and it has served me well and increased my productivity. Less scrolling because I know where everything is.
And yes it's backup and gets updated every month
My Hard drive that my Poser work sets on is having SMART issues, Going to swap out the drives and then reload by backup after I for mat the disk.
To the artist who do produce visual stories or superior quality work, My hats are off to you because I have seen some of the new artist selling items in the store. It's awesome.. I have a top notch PC loaded with ram, speed, and mid range cuda video cards.
My desk is like an assembly line with 3 PC's I does the rendering, One does the Post work and the other has the comic software. So while i render I post work finished images in batches and then send to the the PC with the comic software I build the pages and then drop and drag my art into them. Once all the panels are done I go to work adding the text, but while that is going on I am rendering for my next story.
My wife does the editing as she has a AA in English Then I do a final run through and lastly create the PDF.
It works for me and I make sure it meets my own standards or I go back and rework any images that need it.. What can I say I'm a virgo who turns 70 next week
Have a nice weeknd everyone
Sorry for the long post
