OK, I know it just went live this morning, but I'm hoping that some of you may have picked it up and fiddled with it. I'll probably grab it anyway, but I'm curious on how effective it is on a truly custom or just an extensively morph dialed character. Pretty much all of my custom G3 females are morph dialed to hell and back with all kinds of morphs, some bought here, some at Rendo, some at DAZ. Will it recognize those third party morphs and transfer them as well? How about redundancy? If I have a morph set that is available for both G3 and G8 and it's installed on both, will it just dial those morphs or create entirely new redundant dials that add weight to the mesh? I would love to move entirely to G8 and being able to recreate my custom characters without weeks of difficult if not impossible work would be a big step in that direction. The main reason I have been slow to move to G8 entirely is because of all my custom G3 girls! I can't just leave them behind.

I read and reread the product page over at DAZ and it LOOKS like this is all possible, but to what extent, I just don't know and can't quite see from the information they've provided.

I haven't bought it, myself.
The thing I'd want to move (Lekkulion head tails) aren't going to move easily. The geografted stuff doesn't play 100% nicely with my usual tricks, and I don't see any reason to think this tool would do the mirgration any better.

As for morphs, I've moved non-Daz store morphs between Genesis 3 and Genesis 8.
Moving morphs is totally independent of folder location or store identity. It's just data, and Daz doesn't care.

If you do it by hand, you get a morph dial in the same spot in the Genesis 8 stacking/tree. There probably won't be any limits set on the dial by default (the transfer process doesn't care about limits). I don't know if the transfer tool will do it the same way, but you should get something in the end.

If they set it up properly, then there should be zero trouble moving between G3F and G8F... it's just a matter of automating the process that you'd do manually.

I picked it up this morning and so far it does exactly what it advertises to do. There were several characters late in the G3 cycle that I didn't get to use, and several that I really miss using, that I can now render again.

From me it's a recommended buy, but with one issue.

It does NOT copy JCMs. Several figures use extra Joint Control Morphs not included in base G3F/G8F. These JCMs assist when you have a character that is far outside the normal figure shape, and helps reduce unsightly distortions in their bends by compressing and/or stretching the figure mesh to accomodate their shape.

It is listed as G8F only, but I used it to convert Guy7 to Genesis 8 with the Convert Scene Character G3F to G8F option. Whether this is intended or not I'm can't say, but the Character Converter G3F to G8F option failed when trying to convert a male character. I've sucessfully converted Guy7s head over a year ago, but could never get the body to convert due to the huge shoulders. This product did it perfectly on the first try, however it failed to convert the eyes, but that could have been an issue with the settings I used.

I've converted about 30 G3 females so far and they all appear to be spot on. It won't convert the HD morphs, but if you own some G8 HD chars you can suplement your newly converted dolls with just the HD details for a sharper effect.

Characters I haven't seen in ages like Lilith and Ophelia, not to mention my library of Silver, Fred Winkler and Lyoness girls are usable again with G8 :)

Keep in mind, the script is basically doing the same thing you can do manually inside Studio, but this way it is automated and streamlined, and MUCH faster than going through the roughly 20 steps of doing it yourself, which is why I am willing to recommend it.

That said, Zevo also has a similar product in the pipeline. His claims to not only convert female AND male, but also claims it will convert the JCMs and MCMs, these make a BIG difference. I'll have to wait and see when it's released if it lives up to the claims, but if it does it will likely replace the Riversoft converter for me.

Since there's no telling when the Zevo converter will come out, I think it's easily worth $16 for the Riversoft version to render some of your G3 ladies that you've been missing for a while.

Correct, it does not appear to move figure specific grafts (like lekku head tails) from G3 to G8, and it's basically an automation of the manual process, but that $16 makes the process a LOT less painful and time consuming :)

Thanks. I'm not looking to convert grafts, since those are figures unto themselves, just the body and face shapes. I've spent hours, sometimes days, making my girls. If I can transfer all of my work over to G8 with just a few clicks, it's totally worth the price. Going to buy it right now.

Converted 6 of my characters. One one (DT Clara) some minor changes with lips & eyes occurred, thus not making a sister rather than an identical clone twin. Olympia had some streaks on the thighs, but that was just a simple conversion and maybe I need to do that again.

All other characters worked well. I would buy that again. And no, I don't get commission.
