Installed the product today and was amazed to find every single texture was 8192 X 8192 pixels!

That's insane. That's 24 textures that decompress into 64 megs each in memory. For what?...a freakin' pair of boots!

I don't render at 8192X 8192. I don't know anyone who does. My typical render is 5000X4000, and even then people tell me I render too large. A pair of boots might take up maybe 500X300 at most within the render. All those large textures do is slow down my render times and use up memory.

First thing I did was run the textures through Fotosizer and cut them down to 20% of their original size before loading them into my runtime. I can already tell you it won't make a difference to the look of my final renders.

You would think that content creators would know better, but I guess not.

Everything I know about jazz guitar I learned from Helen Reddy's version of "Where is the Love".

8K for boots? Yeah, that's excessive. Even 4K would be pushing it.

This is something that bugs the heck out of me too.

There's a few PAs on Daz that make their wearables with 2 sets of mats, one in 4k and one in 2k, I wish more would do that.

I know the 4k crowd is trying to "future-proof" their products, but I'm using their product on hardware from 2018, not 2028 :)

I remember the G2M set from several years ago, I thing it was something like Sci-Fi Smuggler. It looked awesome but it was 8k. That was like 5 years ago when high end consumer cards were still only around 4gb max. I have trouble using it today with 11gb! :o

eeewww. Maybe the uv layout sucks. Is each mat uv 1:1, or is each mat using a tiny portion of the 8k? Just open up the textures in photoshop, shrink, rename, and make a new material pose using the smaller stuff.

Those boots must be cut out of fractal snake skin for the textures to be so huge :p
"That was fun. Let's do it again."
