I'm curious to know your opinion: does this community support or oppose art created by generative AI, or is it simply indifferent, since it's art for art's sake?
Thank you!
This is a loaded topic for sure lol, but I have to say that in general the negative has not just been "Lately" it's always been there, things are getting "louder" now due to more and more data centers being opened, trying to be opened that are snatching up far too much natural resources from the surrounding areas.
But, I don't want to get into all that, instead I'll share my 2 cents on my 'stance' on AI...
Text based AI... I love it, I utilize it, and it's been a huge help making me not use the same few lines to describe my products lol.
I write out my initial draft, feed that and a few of my promo pics to GPT and it spits out a new version of the text.
I then go over that text with a fine toothed comb and 9 times out of 10 I end up changing it here and there, but the end result is still better then 4am me trying to find the best way to portray my latest character or clothing item, so win/win.
AI Image to Video... I've just recently started playing with this last year using "vidu" I give it one of my renders and tell it what I want to happen, sometimes it works, sometimes it's pure hell, as the renders are mine, the models and or clothing are mine I did not expect to get much if any flack when I posted the results to my socials, but it was deff a 50/50 mix of people praising the results and people condemning the results because "AI HAD to of stolen the animations"
Generative AI... I don't like this personally, because of the ethics involved, too many datasets were created by scraping others work, reusing it in part or in whole and the artists did not get credit, me personally would not use generative AI (WITH FEW EXCEPTIONS) UNLESS I was able to literally create my own dataset of my own content library. With that said, I don't condemn anyone who uses it themselves, and I won't lie when I say some of the stuff I've seen both here and around the web are insanely cool, so I won't debate the "artistic merit" so to speak.
The Few Exceptions: I will admit I DO jump in on those social "trends" stuff like "based on what you know about me and my work, make a caricature of me" or "Make an image of how I treat you" I do tend to do those when I see them floating around / flooding my socials.
I've had a motto for quite some time, I can't claim it to be my org creation, just a thought I share (under diff names lol)
"50% of the people like Ai, 50% of the people loathe AI and 50% of the loudest people against AI are prob using it in secret"
FWIW, there's my 2 cents :)
