I was interested to see I have reached the rank of Advanced Member.

Even after 3 years I consider myself very much a novice with Daz. I work by the KISS Principle and I'm yet to get into most of the basics of Cameras and Lighting.

That's why it took me a long time to submit anything to the Gallery. I never even looked at it, assuming everyone else was far more professional than me.

I use 3D graphics, and an extensive range of model photographs, as an aid to telling stories. My characters were always physically based on celebrities and models, before I discovered I could bring them to life in 3D.

Every Environment, or often Props with Renderotica, can tell a story. It's just a matter of whether it fits in with offline ideas. Sometimes I'll look to illustrate an existing episode, sometimes an image will trigger changes of direction in a story.

The Gallery here isn't works of High Art (although some might qualify). It's a gallery of ideas, rendered to whatever level works at the time.

My thoughts exactly, thanks for sharing this story with us Teej!  I really enjoyed reading this, also because i can heavily relate. Just like yourself I'm a casual modeler who's just having fun and learning things along the way. Don't tell anyone but it's only recent that I discovered & started using the dimensional presets in my render settings (vs. just rendering the active viewport). Wouldn't you know it... my render times got better ;)

After reading this I obviously checked out your artist studio as well as your gallery and for what's it worth I think you have some really awesome renders there. Pretty hot girls, a wide variety of scenes.. really cool I think!

Thanks for sharing with us!

Great post and I totally agree. There's so much to the program and I feel like I'm just scratching the surface.
