I purchased the Light and a Pose product for G9 and unziped it in the "my daz 3D" folder.

If I open the folder the files are there like other products I bought and the default ones.

but when I open Daz Studio there are no Layla poses or lights to find.

Hi, I hope I can help you with your issue.

First, make sure the "My Daz 3D Library" folder is the correct one - navigate to the "Content Library" pane in Daz3D, right-click on "My Daz 3D Library" and choose "Browse to Folder Location" - This is the directory where the Contents of "My Library" folder from any product should go. Make sure you copy the content INSIDE the product's "My Library" folder to "My Daz 3D Library"  and not the "My Library" folder itself. After that, you should be able to navigate to the desired product through the "Content Library" pane - make sure you aren't looking for it in the "Smart Content" pane.

Also, the pose products are able to load from any folder if you are having trouble setting up your Content Library in Daz3D (meaning you can just right click on "DAZ Studio Formats" and point to a poses folder in any place), you can also simply drag and drop the pose files onto a figure with the figure selected in your scene. If I recall correctly, the same should apply to the lights product, you can simply drag and drop them into your scene.

This should solve your issue, but I recommend searching for something like "daz3d content library forum" if you still need help understanding how content library works in daz3d, there is plenty of information on YouTube as well if you are looking for a visual tutorial.

I wish you success on your creative journey,

Kind regards,

Layla

Where exactly are you looking?  Anyway, let's go over the whole thing anyway ;)

As you probably know there are 2 panes which you can use to access your contents: the smart content pane as well as the content library pane. Thing is: assets which you grab from 3rd party websites such as Renderotica usually do not automatically show up in the smart contents pane. So... for those contents you need to look them up yourself within the content library pane.

This also means that you need to access the items using their official system locations. Poses for example are usually installed in "People\Genesis x\Poses" where 'x' refers to the Genesis generation number.

Next...  also keep in mind that not every vendor provides a ready to extract "clean" product, sometimes other folders get in the way.

For example...  generally used system folders for Daz Studio are: "data, People, Props, Runtime", but sometimes vendors provide these folders in a "layered" way. In other words: they're inside yet another folder.  So instead of seeing these names you'd get "Library" or "My Library" and in there you'd then get "data, people, etc.". So if you were to extract such an archive as-is in your Daz Library your assets may end up in the wrong place.

I came across a few products from Layla myself (SKU #70682) and the "My Library" folder was definitely there... maybe food for thought?

Hope this can give you some ideas!

I made a post about correctly extracting products for installation some time ago, and it's still relevant today. Look here:

As ZenMaster said, the file hierarchy is not consistent across vendors. I'd love to see it become consistent, but I'd also love to win the lottery. The odds are just not there.

Take a look, try reinstalling your files in the exact order that I show, and see what that gets you.
