ok so this might be a dumb question but everytime i apply the graft i get this greyed out area and there is no skin tones on it.

Sometimes you do a thing and a thing happens.
In whichever version of DS you are using with the multiple grafts created by Meipe after you apply the graft as per the tutorials you must with the figure selected run the "Mat Copy" script to copy the skin tones (shaders) to the graft.
If your files are installed properly it should color the graft.
Next is usually to apply the grafts shell, "Fix" if needed, and colorize the shell.
