Recently, I've spent a good bit of money on this website, as well as others for content. However, upon installing it, I've noticed that a lot of it doesn't work. After several hours of trying to figure why it was installing correctly, I bit the bullet and deleted everything to start over again to reinstall everything to see if that helped. I'm going step by step here. I went to Daz3d. com, downloaded Daz3d, let that install. After reinstalling it, I went into the folder where My Library would be and checked to make sure there was nothing in there. It's was empty save for the My Daze Connect Library folder which had a data folder in there which contained a cloud folder that had nothing. For additional measure, I went into the application under the Content Library section to make sure that I couldn't find any of the additional content that wasn't working. There was nothing, the my library folder was empty. So, I went about installing some of the products that I'd bought from here into the system. I started with the DS-TaB-G2-Update-1-1. I went to the help page here on the website and looked for the instructions again on how to install content. I entered the Content Directory Manager and found the "My Library" Folder that I was looking for.
C:/Users/karma/Documents/Daz 3d/Studio/My Library
I then extracted the files from the Zip file using Winrar to put them into the my library folder using the location above. It finished it's installation, and I exited Daz3d and reloaded it to make sure it was there. Upon reloading it, I got this error message:
runtime/textures/!erogenesis/tab/originals/tab_erouv_type0.jpg
runtime/textures/!erogenesis/tab/originals/tab_erouv_type0b.jpg
runtime/textures/!erogenesis/tab/transparencies/ero/tab_erouv_transp soft3.jpg
So I went back and deleted it, and tried to install it manually. I extracted everything from the Zip file to the desktop and then into the folder. On the desktop, there was a People folder, a data folder, a TaB DAZ IRAY Tips PDF, EndUserLicense txt file, TaB_DS_Genesis2_CorePack_update1_README txt file, and TaB DS Update 1 Addendum PDF. I then took all of that, and copied it to the studio folder to see if that would help. I could now see it in Daz3D again in the content library. When I clicked on it, I got the same error message again. So I thought that perhaps it was the downloads themselves that were bad. So I went into my private folder and deleted all of the Zip files. I also read the PDF with the instructions in it on how to install it. I extracted it to the folder that had the runtime folder in it just like the directions said. Then, after that was done unzipping, I went back to Daz3D to check to see if I could now load it in properly. It finally did! I was so excited, but now I had to go and redo that for ALL the products that I had bought from here and other 3rd party sites that weren't Daz3d, so I started my way down the list. Next I did Headlights_G3F, and I did the exact same thing. It loaded almost perfectly, but it's got a weird gray and brown tint, I'll be posting a help bit about that as well. Otherwise though, could anyone think another reason that I might be getting these error messages?
UPDATE - After getting back onto the computer, I was able to determine that the issue with the headlights wasn't really an issue at all. The dark brown color was really just from the pre rendering images and once I rendered it, it came out beautifully! Now, moving on to my next file to download, XandM_UltimateBreastMorphs_Genesis3Female. I extracted it out to the correct file path and reopened Daz3d to find out if it worked. That worked out fine, so moving on to the next one which was the Golden Palace for Genesis 3. Now this one had 3 files that had to be downloaded:
IM80058204-01_GoldenPalaceforGenesis3Femalev2
IM80058204-01_GoldenPalaceforGenesis3Femalev2 (Daz Shared XML)
Golden-Palace-for-Genesis-3-Female
I went and took a look at the readme text file to make sure that there wasn't any issue with it that I didn't know about. The first one that I installed was the Golden-Palace-for-Genesis-3-Female. I opened the program and it worked out just fine. I wasn't sure what the other two were, so I just left them alone. Next was 3feetwolf_XRayMachine_Gut, not entirely sure why I even got that one, but I was going to make sure it worked. It did, and I moved on. Next was sledgehammer_TonguePlusG3Free. It installed correctly, but I couldn't make it load itself into the scene, but that's for another post at another time. So I carefully uninstalled the product. Then I moved on to a free Sofa and Bench that I got a while ago (not sure when or why), but they installed fine. Then it was time for Layla-s-BDSM-Furniture-for-Daz-4-8-ZIP, and I tried that one, and I encountered those drasted error messages again!
data/layla/layla's bdsm furniture/xcross_planks/decorative planks & rings.dsf
data/layla/layla's bdsm furniture/xcross_planks/uv sets/layla/base/default.dsf
So I thought that perhaps I was just doing it wrong, so I uninstalled it and brought it back. While doing that, I noticed that it was unzipping itself into an entirely new folder that was outside of the My Library folder, and figured that that might be the issue. So using WinRar, I entered the file and unzipped only the props that were needed into My Library Folder and tried again to load it. It still didn't work, it looked like there were some unnecessary additional folders that were still in the way. So I went into each folder and unzipped it's contents into the appropriate folders in the My Library folder. It still didn't work, so I figured that this was something that I would need to hash out with the creator. Moving on from that, I installed HardBreastsSurgeryG8M.zip, and it worked just fine. Next, MTT_IO-2PC-TRENDY-PAIR.zip. This is one that I'd had an issue with before, but hoped that by uninstalling it and redoing it, that whatever the issue was before that I had corrected. I got the error messages again, which are the same as the ones that I've posted before. I'm currently emailing back and forth with the artist to find a solution. Ironically, we got it resolved as I was typing this post. I'll be trying his solution with the other products that didn't work. Moving on from that, I tried to install two that I was really excited for:
IM80062783-01_GoldenPalacev2forGenesis8Male.zip
and
IM80062783-01_GoldenPalacev2forGenesis8Male.dsx
Per the note in the instructions, it said the the DSX file was only for if I wanted to use the Daz Install Manager program, which I didn't. So I tried to install it the way that I normally did. It didn't work! When I tried to install the G8M Selector, nothing happened. No error message, nothing. And when I tried to move on to step 2, G8M_Bulge Remove, I also got nothing. No error message or anything. So I tried to move on to step 3, and this is what I got -
data/meipex/goldenpalace/g8m_goldenpalace_genitalia_v2/goldenpalace_g8m_2254.dsf
data/meipex/goldenpalace/g8m_goldenpalace_genitalia_v2/uv sets/meipex/base/default.dsf
and
data/meipex/goldenpalace/g8m_goldenpalace_genitalia_v2/goldenpalace_g8m_2254.dsf
I tried to install it using the install manager. And it worked!!!! I was so excited!! I then just repeated that process for the Storming the palace one. And that one also worked out lovely! Lastly, I did the VunterSlaush_SeatsandCouches1.zip. I just did that the way that you normally would considering that this one didn't have a DSX file. And I got these errors
data/vunterslaush/seatsandcouches/couch1/1.dsf
data/vunterslaush/seatsandcouches/couch1/uv sets/vunterslaush/base/default.dsf
runtime/textures/vunterslaush/seatsandcouches/couch1_m1_basecolor.jpg
runtime/textures/vunterslaush/seatsandcouches/couch1_m1_normal.jpg
runtime/textures/vunterslaush/seatsandcouches/couch1_m1_roughness.jpg
and
data/vunterslaush/seatsandcouches/couch1/1.dsf
runtime/textures/vunterslaush/seatsandcouches/couch1_m1_basecolor.jpg
runtime/textures/vunterslaush/seatsandcouches/couch1_m1_normal.jpg
runtime/textures/vunterslaush/seatsandcouches/couch1_m1_roughness.jpg
