Is there a place to hangout with other members?

Okay, I remember back in the day this site and even Renderosity had a chat room where we use to hang out and chat with other members as we played around on the sites, or was working on artwork, share ideas etc. I know those features went away but it is 2020 and we have many ways to stay in touch with people.
Are there any groups in this community that hangout on discord, google hangout or whatever platform other then Facebook twitter etc. (I refuse to join those platforms.) I would be interested to join or create a group with people that are like minded. Just a thought to discuss. Those that will sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither. - Benjamin Franklin

Remember Artzone? Man, that chatroom was full of trolls, but it's where I met a friend of well over a decade so it wasn't for naught. I agree that this place needs a chat again. Nowadays I go sometimes to picarto.tv when a render-friend may be broadcasting their workflow. Direlil and Darthhell both do their work while chatting there.

It is nice to see there are some other members that wish there was a way for members to hang out with each other online. Maybe if the tread gets enough interest we can set up a discord or perhaps if there are other members that have a(EDITED) a group of us get together and do live streams together for others to come hang out there and discuss things once or twice a week.

If this takes off, I'm all for it. Thing is, if we want to talk shop or anything related even a little bit, Won't the DevArt ToS be a bit strict? Just wondering. . "That was fun. Let's do it again."

I was thinking the same thing about Devart ToS, as much as I would like for rotica friends to hang out and talk shop as shadowman said I don't want to see anyone get in trouble, lets face we post some very style of art and again would hate to see someone that does not fully understand what we post here and the people behind the images might get people in trouble if the start snitching.
That was why I was leaning towards a discord channel because you can set your own rules, and I will admit I'm not sure what ToS they have but I have seen some pretty Rotica type artwork posted in those channels. I'm not that savey in setting stuff up like that but if someone gets the ball rolling I am in and will help anyway I can. At first, I thought that this thread was about in person meetups, but it seems that's not the case. Could a room be started here? Assuming that the discussion doesn't drift into anything that violated the TOS here, why not?

The last time we had a chat feature here it was broken up into 2-3 sections, one for conversation one for shop talk and one for sharing images that latter could have been part of the shop talk section and I thing we had a way to break off and have a private conversation, but we have PM already for that but it takes time to send and get a reply
if we do this here it is under our rules and DA's which I will not be a part of. They are too strict
yet we have to devise a way to make sure we do not attract trolls who just want to stir the pot.

I was looking into the discord idea and pulled up some videos on youtube to see how people see it up and it seems pretty straight forward. What I noticed is it will allow you to:
Set up different channels for example general chat channel, voice channels so people can talk if they want, you can set roles from admin, mods, members. Even set up a bot roll that will handle the Mod features for you. There was even a bot that will allow you to play music in a room so people that want to share their taste in music can pull music from youtube and play.
You can lock certain rooms, so for example you can have a room for admins only and one for mods and admins to talk about things privately.
You have to the ability to view chat logs, kick or ban trollie people
You can even have room to help showcase products that are sold here to help promote some of our talented creators
I think we can get enough people from around the world to help moderate and what not. Maybe contact the admin of this site and see what we can do to set it up or help set up or ideas they may have to help promote the site and the discord channel Those that will sacrifice freedom for security deserve neither. - Benjamin Franklin
