...or is it the abyss? You stare into one, you scream into the other. Whatever.
I'm curious if anyone else has run into this with Studio. It's been doing it to me for years. I use the search bar in the parameters tab to find morphs or groups of morphs when I'm building a character. It speeds things up. I've learned to hit Ctrl S frequently because on occasion, and for no discernible reason, I'll start typing something into the search bar and Studio will just crash, taking any unsaved work with it. I've lost entire characters before because I hadn't had the presence of mind to save as I worked. Frustrating would be a serious understatement.
Has anyone else run into this, and if so, did you figure out why it happens?

I'm afraid I haven't seen that happen :( Studio crashes at random for me.

The only 'random' crashes I get are from typing into the parameters search bar. I can certainly get it to crash from asking too much from it, or from trying to turn a complex cloth item into a dynamic item, or from trying to get a dynamic cloth to interact with too many things in a very complex way, but random crashes? I only get that from typing a query into the parameters search tab, and it's so random. Just typing in 'leg' will crash it. Or really anything. It doesn't seem to matter. So...I hit Ctrl S a LOT, while I'm trying to build a character. It's saved me a lot of redo's.

I've noticed that you can put your cursor into the Parameters find field, and the vertical bar is flashing indicating the field is ready to accept text. But when I begin typing the scene in the Viewport jumps wildly (even when its on camera view and there has been no adjustment to the camera) the scene is disrupted and there is no text in the parameters search field. But I do not crash. It's very frustrating and inconvenient, but does not crash on me. This happens on both a Mac and PC, so I suspect it's an inherent bug in the program that needs fixing. That's interesting, I've never had it do that. What I do sometimes get is I'll start to type, but then the parameters jump around based on the letter I entered, but no text appears. Weird.

Yes, I've noticed the amount of disruption is dependent on what letter you start typing, so there must be some kind of link between the character typed and the action that results. And again, no text in the parameters field registers

Matt, what are your pc specs? I've had a problem and correlated it to cpu being at a low frequency but needing higher and it not able to "jump up" fast enough. By setting clock speeds to not drop so low I've reduced crashes. Simulations dont seem to care 😑🤬. 13900hx 4090m 64gb ram so plenty of horse power but Daz is......not well..... Also what does your log say after the crash?

Similar spec to yours, but it is on the older side so I'm not messing with things like clock speeds. As far as the log file goes, nothing. It crashes and Studio closes down insantly. It's a rare enough phenomenon though so I just make sure to save often.

Whens the last time you did a fresh install of Daz? Personally I back up both "cloud" and 3P to an external then fully uninstall and reinstall about once a year, feels like it helps.

Long story short, I can't run the nvidia drivers for the latest version of Studio. Until I replace my computer, I'm stuck with what I have which is 4.21. However, it has done this weird thing for many years, long before 4.22 came out. All I do is type text into the parameter search, and boom. Done. It's not that common though. I just wondered if anyone else had experienced it.
