Those images should be saved as jpg's at a compression level of 8 in Photoshop, then converted to a PDF from there. This will reduce the file size considerably with no discernible loss in detail.
Keep the original PSD files as your backup.

First off Congrats on your first publication

I render all my images in PNG  then take them to post work to fix minor errors and add a little contrast to help bring out the image. I do not sharpen my work as I use the sharpening tools in comic life to do that.

I use the same rendered PNG images in comic life and when I am done I convert it to PDF at 150 dpi

I create my comics in standard comic format which  means when reading the PDF comic anything above 75 % requires scrolling  Back in the day I was a contributing member of the Renderotica magazine that is sold here. Mind you not all the issue are available in the store but when members contributed their pdf stories from jpg format, there were always problems and i had to fix them up as best I could.  Now some of these artist did very poor work to begin with..filled with ghosting lines and clothing poke through but I did my best to make them look presentable.  So I am not a big fan of JPG tp PDF  I personally would favor PSD or PNG..  they will not reduce your document size as a JPG would  but when you post a comic  especially your first one you want to put your bet work out there..  So try a JPG version in PDF and then try a PNG or psd in PDF and compare the overall quality

Some of my first comics ..circa 2004 were jpgs and I went back and resubmitted them at a higher quality

Best of luck on many more comics
