Is there a material copy script for Genesis 8.1 female for Fender Blender yet. I have tried doing the copy surface thing from the body to the graft but that does not work, seems like G8.1 has a unique shader or something and only some of the properties are copied.

Thank you reminding me, I'll publish the 8.1 script as soon as possible... ;)

Genesis 8.1 Female uses the Iray Uber Base Shader (the default Iray shader). Victoria 8.1 uses the new DAZ Iray PBR Skin Shader.
If you are using Victoria 8.1's textures, or other character using the new shader, apply the new skin shader to the graft first (Shader Presets / Iray / DAZ PBR Skin), then copy the surfaces of Body to the graft. DAZ STUDIO USER SINCE 2006

Can you explain the difference between Uber and Physics Based Rendering shaders? Is it a different engine? Or rather additional settings in the surfaces tab?

Iray Uber and PBR Skin are both based on the MDL shader language, but how they are set up is different, what dials are there, and how things are interpreted by the render engine differ. It is similar to the old pwSkin and ubersurface shader systems for 3Delight, they were both built on the same Renderman Shader Language and added some of the same features (SSS, translucency, etc) but the way they implemented the more advanced features of RSL to be interpreted by the version of 3Delight that Daz Studio uses made it where the shaders weren't interchangeable even though they were both written using the same shader language. Or maybe even going a step further and comparing the dz default shader to pwSurface and uber surface. Really up till now Iray Uber has been the default implementation of MDL in Daz Studio and as such almost everything out there has been built upon it. So Iray Uber has been the generalist shader set up for Daz Studio, whereas with PBR Skin it is a specialist shader set to work on and create a more realistic look to one specific type of surface, that surface being skin.

It's only shader based, not changing anything about DAZ Studio itself or the engine.
It's a variation of the default Uber one but more skin oriented. For instance, there is a second Normal map slot for micro pores and detail which is great. (of course it works for other things beside skin)
But different shaders only copy/paste the shared settings between them, they don't overwrite each other, so that's why it has to be applied to Fender Bender first before copy/paste the Body surface to it. DAZ STUDIO USER SINCE 2006

Even from G8F to G8.1F with non PBR Iray, It doesn't line up because the UV sets are split differently. G8 Torso vs G8.1 Head and Body. Unless Im missing something, what steps are you using to work around this?
I really wanna get back to using Fender Blender again.
::EDIT:: Well just now on an older G8F plain copy worked ... ??? Maybe I had a custom UV set last time, or it just glitched. Edited by user Tuesday, April 6, 2021 4:08:16 AM(UTC)

Yeah, the only change in the skin UVs between Genesis 8 and 8.1 is the neck/head area is separated into another UV to leverage the scale difference with the face. Maybe you had selected the Base Male UV instead of the Base Female one by mistake. It happens. :) DAZ STUDIO USER SINCE 2006
