Hello all!
I just stumbled here by accident while researching mods for Virt-a-Mate. This place has blown everything that I was researching out of the water! I've been consuming content on porn streaming sites from creators featured on this site for a long time. I never imagined that their were 'catalogues' of their content available for DIY. .
To go from a consumer of 3D content to a producer is a daunting prospect. I've never used any kind of 3D editing software. My experience is limited to image and video editing. Is it realistic for someone with no experience to use these tools to create content?
And, if it is at all realistic, would any of you be kind enough to direct me towards some beginner's resources?

To get started go get Daz studio, it's free, to test the waters. It also comes with some 3d content. You tube starting with Daz studio for the basics. If you want to do animation, there are some nice sets at rotica by stimuli. If you have a good graphics card it will help out in rendering. Still art takes less time to render. Once you get the hang of it, you will definitely want more content. It will take some time to get use to it, but once you do, it becomes second nature.

To be honest, Daz Studio is good for making still images but the animation tools aren't that good. I haven't seen much erotica (movies) made with it.
The majority of it is done in Source Film Maker; it's an older program and I don't know if it's still updated, but there are lots of people still using it. Just google SFM XXX and you'll get more results than just about any other engine.
People are starting to make porn with Unreal and Unity engines, but their numbers are still small.
If you're one of those big-brain types, Blender has everything, but it takes a lot of work to get good results.
tl/dr: DS is the easiest to get started with, but has the weakest animation tools.
