 Product "Read Me" says to "Unzip the files directly to your DAZ Studio library". Result is just a mess of .dsf files. What is the correct way to install this?

When manually installing, unzip the .zip file, then navigate to the folder that contains data, people, props, runtime, etc Select and drag those folders into your Daz Studio Library.
